### "Certify - So Easy and User Friendly"

Certify is such an easy program. Not only does our office staff use it, but our Service Technicians have no problems learning and using the system as well - so easy, and I would highly recommend it!

Pros

This expense reporting software is so easy to use. It's awesome how your credit card expenses are automatically added in the system, and how an expense report is generated on a monthly basis. The system even matches up the expenses and receipts for you!

Cons

One area of improvement might be the "sync" function when taking photos of receipts to upload. I have run into a few sync issues but was able to get them resolved quickly. I wish all of the categories were not on the screen at that time, as it would speed things up.

Timely reporting of expense reports, visibility of all expenses, easy to track & review. Historical data available and can review previous information very easily

Pros

Easy to use and the step by step implmentation process was well supported. Good training materials and support after implementation is available. Many good reports are also available. Did not have any issues with implementing the new expense report process and approval process within the system works well

Cons

Does not handle the GST specific to Canada very well. However we were able to customize a field to capture the information on a report that can be exported to excel to suit our needs. Does not readily integrate into Sage to simplify data entry.

I’ve had a wonderful experience with certify and highly recommend it. Two thumbs up, from me!

Pros

The Certify system is extremely organized and easy to use. I enjoy that you can upload pictures of receipts from your cell, organize expenses throughout the expense period and it maps your mileage for you, even as one way or round trip so you don’t have to write your mileage down. Once you use it 3-4 times, it’s very simple and the phone app works as well as the desktop site.

Cons

The first few times using it, it was a bit confusing. However, this was years ago and it’s gotten smarter with time and easier to learn. I’ve helped others get started and I’ve seen first hand that they continue to improve the processes.

The visual appearance and arrangement of the web page are sufficient and clean. ONLINE versus SPREADSHEET. Sometimes, travel to locations, such as foreign worksites, where there is slow or intermittent access to the internet sometimes results in difficulty syncing expenses and receipts. On those trips, most employees keep a separate Excel spreadsheet or handwritten diary of day-to-day expenses until they get home. When they get home, they spend hours or days converting their spreadsheet to Certify. Some employees reported losing receipts while connected to Wi-Fi in remote areas even after the mobile app reported a satisfactory sync and the receipt is gone from the mobile device. STATUS BOX RECALL. If no changes have been made to an expense, it would be helpful if the Status Box would recall the previous status after an Expense Report has been returned for re-approval. The Status box is not remembered between approvals. The result is all previously approved expenses have to be re-examined and re-approved, even if no changes have been made to the expense. Large expense reports that get revised can require a lot of time to re-review. IMAGE FULL-VIEW SYNCING. A full-view image of the receipt in a separate window is available but loses sync with the original window after a receipt image is selected for View Full in one window and subsequently any other views are selected on the expense report window. For example, with receipt A in full view in one window, if the expense report view is changed from Normal, Compact, Detailed, or Full, the full receipt image no longer updates to show subsequent receipt B, C, and so on, automatically. Some employees report that occasionally receipts or expenses linger for days even after being deleted and synced.

Certify isn't an altogether bad product, but I also can't say that I'm likely to recommend it at this point in time. I like virtually everything about it less than I like Expensify. It does have potential, however, and I hope to see user experience improve.

Pros

I don't think the Certify process is as intuitive as it should be, but the app and desktop interfaces are a bit minimalist, so I think that's a promising start. The ability to add receipts at the time of purchase and later sync them with card activity is promising but takes some tinkering to figure out.

Cons

The layout is less intuitive than Expensify. During my first few sessions working on expense reports, the app crashed numerous times. The inability to attach receipts and edit expense details in a single step is, quite frankly, a little bit baffling.

Direct integration makes it so much more efficient. We didn't have to key in the expense report into our Great Plains accounting software. Wish we didn't have to switch accounting softwares, so we could have continued to use Certify Travel & Expense.

Pros

Certify Travel & Expense has a direct integration with Great Plains accounting software, which made it easy to sync between the 2 softwares.

Cons

Unfortunately we had to switch our accounting software to NetSuite and Certify Travel & Expense did NOT have a direct integration with it.

Has not been a good experience for myself or anyone else in the company. I want to say its been very good, but again, an overly complicated process from something that used to be very simple.

Pros

The only pro I can think of is the fact that I can electronically submit expense reports within just a few minutes of having everything together.

Cons

Way to many cons. The process is overly complicated, way more than it needs to be. The drop down lists are a little confusing to determine the type of expense, and certify doesn't allow you to go in and change them to your specific company needs. Because of our own internal process, the software creates more issues than it solves.

I like that I am able to track expenses immediately and save them, Once month-end approaches, it makes my expense reports easier and more accurate.

Cons

I have minor issues with syncing when using the mobile app. The feature to automatically pull data from receipts is hit or miss.

Pros

As a long-time admin, it's a beautiful clean break from scanning individual taped receipts on paper. It's basically idiot-proof and what's more is that it takes expense reporting out of the hands of the admin and gives expensers the ability to upload their own receipts with a really straightforward app. The app even allows coding for departments, and notes for expense allocations.

Cons

There's nothing that I don't like about it.

Thus it' s necessary to assess the metabolic patterns and properties of your compounds.

Our billing was the 18th of each month. There was fraud on the associated credit card, so it declined. Certify took it upon themselves to change billing to the 1st, thereby double-charging for the 1st-18th of the month changed. I called them on this and was told there was nothing they could do unless I went on a contract (aka "locked in"). I asked, "so you can only charge me correctly if I lock in to a contract?" and was told "yep". Again, speechless...cancelling once we clear all outstanding receipts in the system and moving to Zoho.

Pros

Ease of setup and free trial. It's the only reason we gave them a shot.

Cons

Promised functionality missing. It makes you enter a location for EVERY expense. They say it is due to IRS, but in reality, that is driven from receipts, so if requiring receipts you shouldn't need the extra clicking/entering for every expense. Very cumbersome. This was tested during free trial and we were told by the sales rep that this could be set to non-required with paid subscription. Paid the subscription fee and it still was required. Contacted the help desk AND the rep and was told that it is a field that is required unless you don't want to require vendor either. I can't even explain that logic... So, basically, we were told to pay for functionality, and the functionality didn't exist.

Very easy to use. From the field, I can upload and code all of my expenses in real time so Im not having to keep up with receipts. I can submit my weekly expense report in less than a minute; just a few quick clicks and I'm done.

Cons

Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks for P Card to link to appear

I have been using Certify for over two years. The system has always been easy to navigate and now they made it event FASTER to navigate adding and accounting for receipts as I am on the road! Thank you for making the upload of receipts and preparing expense reports a task that takes less time and mouse clicks!

Pros

My biggest challenge was the time it took to add receipts to expense reports while traveling. There were just too many steps to take from my iPhone. Now you have made it faster and easier to navigate this process!

Cons

Certify is easy to use. The layout is fairly intuitive, even for many of our staff who are computer challenged.

Cons

The credit card sync went through a period where it had some glitches. The team was good through the process, but it took awhile to fix.

Pros

The best thing about Certify for how I use it is the synchronization with credit cards. This make it very convenient to make sure I have everything expensed properly and everything matches up.

Cons

The interface can be a little confusing sometimes. I have used SAP Concur for some time now so when I switched it was frustrating to enter in some basic transactions. But I got used to it. The other thing i noticed is that the iPhone app is not a direct link to the software but instead needs to be synchronized before the data will go back and forth.

100% elimination of mailing hard copy reports and reciepts for processing. Reminder feature is very convenient and ensures I complete the report and submit on time, everytime!

Pros

Very easy to use. Takes less than 10 minutes to be up an running as an end user. Allows prompt entries while away from the office, which ensures accuracy and timeliness expense reporting.

Cons

I'm old school; so it took me a while to "trust" that I do not need a paper copy of my reciepts and my reports. (But after several months of use with NO mistakes and NO lost data...I feel confident relying on the software to manage my expense activities.)

Pros

Software is very easy to use, and it comes with great features. One is the ability to send receipts from an e-mail directly to the date certify email, which this provides a receipt that automatically is in your wallet. Also there is a software feature where you can automatically input receipt amounts, but we have had some issues with but it does the job.

Cons

One tiny issue is that if the expense approval process requires two or more signatures, the user receives an email update about the approval process which in my opinion causes too many emails flowing back and fourth.

Overall it is very intuitive and the ease of use makes management of travel and other business expenses much easier. The flexibility of the mobile vs desktop apps make this a flexible tool for on the go individuals, which makes sense if you are on the go a lot.

Pros

The mobile app is easy to use and a great way to organize expenses. The website allows you to submit expenses multiple ways (uploaded from app, PDF, emailed receipts, etc) and autofill options is usually accurate. If you need to edit expenses to add more details that is easy to do as well. Creating an expense report is a breeze.

Cons

It always give you the opportunity to write reviews for all the expenses you submit. I always skip this as this would not be my usual forum to submit reviews of any kind for expenses.

Pros

The app is easy enough to use. The mapit feature for mileage expense is also cool. Works well on the go, and its ideal for remote working teams.

Cons

The software has a lot of bugs. The autofill often doesn't work. The app crashes a lot (on iPhone). The website's cleanup wizard does a lot of mistakes (actually cancelling out info I had already filled out). And the expense report system is often messy for new users (specially if you don't submit them right away). It also lacks a more intuitive system to go through past expenses.

Certify from a user perspective is easy to learn and use. The mobility tool to take images of receipts in easy to use. The quality of the receipt is good. The OCR technology does a pretty good job at reading the receipts. It is user friendly from a system administration perspective as well. It is click not code. There are simple changes that a system administrator can complete rather than needing to go back to IT to make coding changes. The response time from the helpdesk in fairly quick as well. The account rep/helpdesk was willing to answer my questions as I was learning how to support they system from a system administrator perspective.

Pros

How easy it is from a system administration and end user perspective to us.

Cons

We use the out of box solution. The is some company specific configuration. If there is a feature you would like, you may not always be able to get that feature. Certify will put it on a list and if enough customers request, they may make the change. I also understand that customizing a system to one company is difficult to support. In my experience with expense tools, customizing a system to a particular company is more difficult to support. Using the system the way Certify intended is a better road to travel.
