### "Not worth the billing troubles"

Terrible billing systems and teams. They didn't communicate our renewal or send us an invoice for about 9 months after our renewal date. Our team and needs had significantly downsized and they were very non-responsive in discussing the bill. I would not recommend Emburse. Ironically customer service / tech support was if I had a problem was very good, but it took literal months to get email responses to our billing issues.

Pros

Once it is set up it works well, and the set-up was well supported. I wouldn't say it's very intuitive, I needed the set-up person, but they were great to work with. It's pretty powerful with a lot of customization.

Cons

Very expensive for a small business, designed for people with more users. I don't like that it doesn't import invoices/receipts into Quickbooks online, so if you leave Emburse you leave all of the receipts behind. There are a lot of weird bugs. For instance, if you split an expense, you have to do the math on it, it doesn't just put amount remaining on the next splits.

Great support from organization and customer service support throughout the school year. Helps track and monitors expense transactions and allows to stay informed on daily transactions.

Pros

Good details that allow you to initiate your pre-approval request. Get updated credit card transaction information. Very easy to reconcile and upload supporting documentation for review and final payment disbursements.

Cons

Does take a little time to understand how to format and submit requests and charge reconciliation, but not a bad system to use!

We implemented Certify as our first digital solution to our manual expense reporting problem. It was fairly easy to setup and get users submitting reports. We're able to put basic parameters in place that we need to verify accuracy (pictures of receipts, date restrictions on submissions, category classifications). We've reviewed Certify's AmTrav add-on product as well, which can prove useful for additional compliance and travel booking ease.

Pros

We liked how Certify delivered on all the basics we'd expect out of an expense management platform: we set up users, multiple approval levels, and restrictions on what types of receipts could be submitted. The approvals are pretty easy, as the software assists you by notating which receipts are out of policy.

Cons

I wish the fields that we can set on receipts were able to be slightly more customizable. I also wish the reporting functionality was a little improved. While we can get to the data we need, it takes several clicks and the UI can be improved.

Overall, Emburse Expense Professional is a reliable and effective expense management tool for organizations that need structure and control. Pros

The best part of Emburse Expense Professional is how much time it saves on expense reporting. Uploading receipts is quick, approvals are easy to track, and the workflow is straightforward once set up. I also liked the policy controls and reporting features, which made it easier to stay compliant and see spending trends without extra manual work.

Cons

Some parts of the interface feel dated and can take time to learn, especially for new users. Occasional syncing or categorization issues required manual fixes, and customer support responses weren’t always as fast as expected. Customization is powerful but can feel overly complex at times.

I use it to upload receipts and create and submit expense reports for my approved business travel. I use it mainly on my PC.

Pros

The user interface is designed very intuitively, which makes it easy to use. It also provides multiple ways to upload your receipts for expense reports.

Cons

There is nothing that I really dislike. The only little thing that is cumbersome is that there seem to be two ways to attach receipts to an expense report, each of which is very easy to select without realizing it, so it can get inadvertently duplicative, making it necessary to backtrack.

Our organization has utilized this product for a couple of years now and we have gotten great feedback from employees and leaders that the system is very easy to use!

Pros

Emburse is easy to use. Our employees are able to set it up with ease. The payouts happen with ease and the approval process is very simple and straight forward for our leaders.

Cons

I really don't have anything I don't like about the product. The only thing that I can think of is the syncing of receipts. If the date of the receipt is different but the amount is the same, it won't sync.

terrible. on top of all the technical issues during implementation and launch, after a 1 year contract Ebmuse hiked up the prices by 48% (FOURTY EIGHT!) and switched from monthly to annual payment, no notice! As an alternative they offered to cancel the contract at 90 days notice, ultimately leaving us with no time to find an alternative and go through another implementation. No negotiation or improvement to the system. Outrageous!

Pros

it allows more customised fields than most expense reporting software, although the lists need to be updated manually (no direct NetSuite integration). this is where the pros end. the sales promised a lot but delivered very little after all

Cons

users report the software is not user-friendly or intuitive, it takes a while to get used to the interface. we had multiple complains that the data users populate or upload is not saved, the system is clanky. the sales promised that they will set up automatic file pick up from Emburse's SFTP to upload to NetSuite but when it came to implementation, they said that they only export the file, and do not provide a NetSuite script for uploading it. Hence, there's no automation/integration for NetSuite and the sales was misleading. Implementation has been painful, as we required some customisation and the Emburse specialist just wanted to do 'out-of-the-box' and kept little record of the requirements. We had to test and re-test many times, and once a bug has been fixed, the same bug will pop up after the next bug is fixed. the implementation fee was high and we had to do most of the job ourselves.

we've been using Certify for over 4 years. Overall, we're satisfied with the product and the support service.

Pros

Certify is user-friendly. It takes some time to implement and set up, but once it's done, it works very well. Plus we're able to configure it to meet our needs. It smooths the expense reimbursement process, has good reporting setup. The customer support team is very responsive and helpful

Cons

It would be great if if can integrate with more accounting systems. Right now we have to manually download the excel file and upload to our accounting system, which can be time-consuming. We like the allowance function, but we can only set up 1 allowance within the same timeframe, hope it can be fixed.

Pros

AutoFill is very nice. I can take a photo of my receipts and then let the system autofill the details.

Cons

When I have to edit an event and list all of the people at the event, it is a bit cumbersome to navigate.

We realized both a tangible return on investment financially, we have also achieved a return on investment through increased time management and productivity that Emburse Certify Expense allowed. A typical dedicated approver could review an average of 30 paper submissions compared to an average of 80 electronic submissions.

Pros

The software is simple and user friendly. Repetition helps our users become comfortable. Submissions are instant and time spent both creating the submission and approving the expense has been considerably reduced. Emburse Certify Expense truly makes life easier for all!

Cons

We would love to see a complete remodel of the mobile app and interface. The mobile app is wonderful for taking photos but does make it harder to complete reports, especially if there are any errors that require attention. The mobile app also still seems to miss some taxes on hotels, shorting the submitter unless caught by the approver. The website itself, the desktop version, experiences high traffic and lag times, resulting in time outs or complete errors. While reporting this issue to the Support Side, I've only encountered one unhelpful representative but the majority of the time our support emails are handled quickly and professionally. The website issues haven't been as severe in the month of November at time of review, so perhaps they've made some upgrades or changes internally that resolved the issue.

Very professional, but we would like to see more enhancements to the program especially to the commute deductions from daily travel.

Pros

Using Certify has made it easier for the staff to submit their travel expenses. Being paperless, not only assures that we receive the claims timely, but it also assures that the expenses get processed timely. Also, receiving the e-mail notifications is very helpful for the employee and management.

Cons

Yes, we use Emburse mostly for our itinerant staff that travel from school to school on a daily basis. Our policy deducts the daily commute. We would like to be able to deduct the daily commute from the full day travels, not only from once of their trips. For example: if an employee daily travel is 20 miles roundtrip a day and they travel 30 miles, we will reimburse them 10 miles. Currently, the system deducts the home commute when they travel from home or to home. So if the employee travels 30 miles and ends their travel to a school closer to their home (less than their commuted miles), their home commute is not deducted.

There are many great features offered by Emburse Certify Expense. One favorite is the Mobile Upload option! No need to remember to hold on to receipts, not worry about the print rubbing off. Just snap a pic, upload it and done! Very easily organized and saves so much time!! There are many more functions that make this software great! It is a must have for companies that employ more than 60 people!

Cons

If you need to convert currencies, it can be a bit confusing with this software.

Pros

First, it integrates with our American Business Gold Card. Second, it's intuitive and easy to use.

Cons

Very happy with the expense software. I don't like it when the credit card link breaks. However, I know they are working to have a direct link in the near future because right now they are using a third party provider.

### "Know before you buy - DOES NOT INTEGRATE WITH SMALL BUSINESS CREDIT CARDS"

After several phone calls with the Certify sales team, I was assured that the corporate credit card sync would work for our business. I stated several times that the credit card sync was THE critical factor in our evaluation of expense tracking software, and explained the structure of of our credit card login with authorized users. I was never given any indication throughout the sales process that there was even a possibility that the credit card data couldn't be pulled in, and proceeded with our contract an implementation accordingly. I dedicated many hours to the implementation process, including introducing our entire team to the website and mobile app. It was not until over a month into the process that our implementation specialist indicated that the credit card aggregator was unable to separate the charges according to authorized user....and that this was a KNOWN ISSUE for credit cards of our type. I spent an additional 4 weeks attempting to help them trouble-shoot the known issue. But the bottom line is that their service does not support small business credit card feeds, has never been able to do so, and they have no plan in place to attempt to do so. Bottom line: Certify will tell you whatever you want to hear until they take your money. But they do not standby those promises, and you should not trust that their sales people have any idea what the software can actually do or not do. Beware.

Pros

This seemed like an effective and easy to use expense tracking software.

Cons

The sales contact repeatedly assured us that Certify would bring in credit card transactions from our company credit card (Capital One Spark for Small Business). We were explicit that this was the primary driver in our decision, and that importing company credit card transactions was our primary goal. As soon as we paid the implementation fee and were assigned to an implementation specialist, they immediately explained that Certify does not work with Capital One cards, and also does not work with any of these: Chase Ink, American Express @ Work, Simmons Bank, PNC Bank, Bank of America Visa Executive Commercial Card, US Bank. If you use those cards, DO NOT TRY TO USE CERTIFY. They wasted 2 months of my time, and REFUSED TO REFUND the implementation cost, despite the fact that they sold me software they KNEW would not work.

### "Do NOT waste your time or money!"

We spent many weeks researching the best options for what we were looking for in an expense tracking software. We tried several trials and lastly ended with choosing Certify for the job. Talking with our sales rep, it sounded like a dream! He addressed each of our concerns and assured us everything we were looking for was within their app. After we signed the contract, we experienced our first taste of what was to follow in how we were to be treated. We set up our first meeting to get started, and after confirming verbally, via email, and google calendar invite, our Account Manager was a no-show. No, follow up, emails, or calls to let us know either. We waited in the meeting link for 30 minutes before we reached out asking what had happened. The response we received was not of an apologetic one, but more of an “oops, I guess I forgot”. With this sort of response, we asked that an honour would be placed in that if the software was to not work for us, we could exit our contract without a penalty. Our sales rep agreed that this was a reasonable request, and confirmed we would have an exit option without penalty if their software did not work out for us. We contacted our reps and let them know the software was not working for us. We tried, but it left us doing more work than our prior manual process. After requesting our account to be terminated, we were given penalties to be paid for exiting our contract agreement early. They would not honour any other agreements.

Pros

They were willing to work on pricing before we signed up.

Cons

Their system is outdated. The software could be good, but it seems they are not willing to update to get there. They use a 3rd party linking system which will result in you having to manually reconnect your cards to the system weekly, or your reports will not pull in transactions correctly. The way the users are set up, it makes no sense and has a very hard flow to things. You constantly have to ghost another user to approve expenses billed to a card that is added to your user. They are not a customer-focused company who is concerned with their product or how their customers are treated and focused more on filling their pockets. Certify has a great sales team, but that seems to be where the customer service ends and loads of issues begin.

Pros

We've been using Certify for over ten years now. Collecting receipts and logging everything is very easy, and the QuickBooks integration is great, except that receipts don't go over.

Cons

Add receipts to the QuickBooks integration.

Our team experienced an immediate affinity for Certify as an application which we are using along side our current CRM in order to organize , track , and to monitor travel compliant policy alterations for our yearly , very busy travel schedule. Certify as such has become a concrete asset as we save on needless and potentially expensive travel costs.

Pros

We found that Certify readily integrates inside of our current Control Management Software quite efficiently and easily. Certify's own management team help sire us through this process which ultimately reduced our dependency on IT support which can be costly. Certify offers easy to use tools that allow our employees and resource allocation to create fine tuned reports designed to address monetary waste as well to increase cost efficiency. As advised by Certify's team, we are paying particular attention to travel mileage as well as incurred airfare. AP report generation is also available for our accounting in order to focus on reimbursable costs for each department or by employee.

Cons

We did notice occasional operational instability in the form of minor bugs with this program as well as the necessary synchronization that must be initialized by each employee per server , however overall these inconveniences were mitigated through intervention from Certify's capable client service department. They suggested quite effective work around solutions to keep our report flow steady and current.

### "Could be good, but isnt"

Im going to make this kind of short.... I was lied to in the sales process, implementation dropped the ball continually. They have zero followup when you have an issue. My implementation coach and even the implementation manager I had to speak with never followed up with me. Oh did I mention they have an implementation fee they bring up just before you sign with them? Its not cheap. But they'll "discount" it. Due to being lied to during sales, I had to figure out how Certify worked instead of it just working for me. I had to re-enter my credit cards 3 times, and I had 15 credit cards. I had to call the bank to get individual logins for all my credit cards. I have 25 very unhappy users and one irate admin (me). The import into quickbooks did not go as promised as well. Due to all of this I now feel as if I know more about Certify than my salesman did when he sold me this crap. The app for the phone is pretty good, Android better than IOS I think. The Web application though is horrible, just horrible. The Layout is bad, you have to confirm simple things, but you can delete an expense with no more scrutiny. They have no way for you to recover deleted expenses. The have a Wallet and a Report, you cannot edit most fields in the wallet, you have to move expenses into a "draft report" then move them back into your wallet! Its about a 10 click process just to change the amount of a receipt or change a category- very important things, heres the procedure lol. 1) Check expense(s) in wallet 2) Click Add to report, 3) Chose whether you want a new or existing report. 4) Confirm that you want to do that. 5) Wait for the expenses to load(which can take a while if you have a lot) 6) click edit 7) Edit the expense, click save (I'll give them this one) 8) Click the icon to open a menu 9) Click Send to wallet. So 9 steps. There is an alternate way but you get to chose from a little window and you cant select multiple. So why do I have to leave the wallet to edit an expense? Oh and if you have a lot of receipts they remove the "merge" option. This matches your receipts with your CC charges automatically! But you cant have more than 100 or 150 lines of charges/expenses, they cant decide on which number, but its between there. So why would you make my life harder if I have MORE expenses? I hope this saves you from some hassle, expenses are tricky, this is my second go around wasting dozens of hours.

They dont know their system entirely. they will sell you something just to sell you. Their salesmen dont know the ins and outs.
