Overall a great experience. I stared my position with no petroleum experience and sat with our estimating team for 3 months to learn the industry, using Ventus from day one. After a couple weeks I was fluent enough to build my own quotes or create PO's for our team. This software was easy to learn and makes it easy to learn, and it's very intuitive in the sales process.

Pros

As a salesmen Ventus makes it easy to compile quotes or PO if needed. With the process being similar it makes training easier with new hires.

Cons

The graphical user interface or reporting and ease of use when using reporting.

We have had our Ventus software for 6 years now. It has worked well for us and we have enjoyed the updates and great customer service. Over the years we have been able to transition from paper job tickets to mobile tickets for our techs and now are integrating time cards. It truly is an all in one system.

Pros

The ability to have everything in one software.

Cons

Some of the processes has quite a few steps that i wish were more streamlined.

We have had the software for 10 years and it has worked out great for us.

Pros

Love the mobile data for the techs to bill on site.

Cons

Check register is hard for me as I compare it to Quickbooks. I would love to have a little more training that doesn't cost me a ton to get. To see how I can make use of the software even more.

I have been using Ventus since 2011. It has transformed our ability to become more efficient and profitable in Job Costing, Service, and Inventory. Also allows for security in who can do or see certain modules. We set up bar coding and mobile data with this software. It is great and highly effective!

Pros

I love the complete, thorough, and effective applications that allow for effective accounting and profit calculating.

Cons

There is really nothing I dont like about it

Ventus provides a comprehensive solution for managing various aspects of our business, including construction, service, billing, accounting, and mobile technician management. It allows for seamless integration across different business functions, making it easy to keep track of projects, financials, and field operations in one place. The mobile app for technicians ensures real-time updates and communication, enhancing efficiency and reducing response times. While the software is robust and offers a wide range of features, there might be a learning curve initially, especially for users unfamiliar with all-in-one platforms. Overall, it significantly streamlines processes, improves data accuracy, and enhances collaboration across teams, making it an invaluable tool for businesses in the service and construction industry.

Pros

Ventus has modules that address the majority of our business application needs in one piece of software. It gives us the ability to instantly dispatch P1 tickets to our remote technicians and gives them the ability to invoice instantly. It also gives us the ability to manage construction projects from start to finish.

Cons

There have been many improvements to reporting in the application, but I would like to see a dashboard that would give us quick data visualization options.

I would like to know more about Ventus. The demo was detailed, and it was cool to see the updated version of GUI.

Pros

Ventus has a huge array of updates and advancements for the staff in the office and the techs in the field. The system seemed user-friendly and easy to navigate depending on tasks.

Cons

The colors in Ventus were hard on the eyes from time to time.

We are in the process of making things more automated and less labor intensive through use of mobile data portion of this software. Looking forward to discovering more efficiencies we were unaware of previously.

Pros

The thing I like most is that it is all inclusive containing dispatch / service through payroll and accounting. Also the fact that it’s customizable to your business - different companies have different ways of using it.

Cons

There is a learning curve - it takes a while to learn everything this comprehensive software is capable of. I still am learning more each day even after 2 plus years.

We make it a point to attend the annual user conference. At the conference we are able to meet and talk with other users, as well as VMS staff. We can voice concerns or problems we have and also are encouraged to suggest new ideas or features we would like to see added to the software. We always come back from the conference with new information and ideas for improving our workflow. Above everything else, we value the Vertical Market Support staff. All software has issues and the client portal allows us to log issues and check the progress. The staff is courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Pros

From an accounting standpoint, it works very well because all modules, including General Ledger, are part of the Ventus product. The dispatch board is very dynamic especially when running mobile data. We are also implementing the barcoding module and DocU, the paperless document management module.

Cons

Because the software is so versatile, sometimes we struggle with finding the best way to set up our work flow process.

Reasons for choosing Ventus

One of our deciding factors in purchasing VMS in 2002 was the capacity the software. We found everything we needed for to run our business as it was and thought that it would be able to meet our needs for the future. We were not disappointed! VMS has always kept up with changing technology and has been able to offer everything we need to run our business efficiently and profitably.

Pros

The support from the VMS team is always available! Having such a great customer service team when dealing with software changes and updates, even when trying to navigate areas in the program your company has yet utilized they have never let us down! Honestly fairly easy to use as well.

If you are considering purchasing Ventus for your company - the first thing I would recommend you to consider is that implementing ANY new software will be a headache. Not everyone learns at the same rate and everyone hates change. When we first started, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] told me very clearly to plan on a year to get all of the bugs (both software and personnel based) ironed out. He was right. We have actually gotten most of the rough waters behind us in six months. The customer support system is exceptional. We are a petroleum based company and because of the specialized nature of our business Ventus has made MANY customizations. While no software will be able to do everything your company needs, I feel like Ventus bends over backward to get you the information you need for your business.
