### "A must have software for your Practice"

July 20, 2022

Improved our productivity.

Pros

Managing multiple clinics in a single software was a challenge but with Curve it became very easy, we could see center wise appoitment, reports. Since its cloud based software, we could access it anywhere - anytime.

Cons

We had some difficulty with training a not techinical staff. sometimes it takes a while to get software as there are lot features.

### "Highly Recommend"

September 12, 2022

4.0

We have increased production and decreased AR due to the ease of reporting which allows us to manage patient care so effectively.

Pros

Curve is a fantastic software for multi location practices!! Makes the management of all locations so easy and daily, weekly and monthly reporting is streamlined

Cons

It would be great if they would continue to work toward making it more Pedo/ortho friendly. Having the option of “mother” “father” instead of just contact or patient would be fantastic. Reports need to be tweaked to not consider our parents active patients. Payment plan option would be great. We would have used the software for both our Pedo and ortho practices but at the very least you need the ability to set up payment plans for ortho contracts which is not offered therefore we have to run on two separate softwares. One for Pedo and one for ortho. Non -ideal.

### "Depends on specialty of the office. "

September 23, 2014

3.5

Pros

It's so user-friendly and you can adjust settings so easy as well.

Cons

I think it's too easy to schedule appointments on top of each other. The billing is not easy to read, because it separates it by transaction, and then the transaction is no longer visable after it's paid. There is no way to select a procedure not to be billed to insurance in a billing transaction. You cannot transfer credits between family members in the same account. The tabs in the charting can be confusing as well. I think all existing, and current treatment plan should be together, not separated. You cannot keep track in the charting what was diagnosed when, because it deletes the date when the treatment is completed. There are too many placed where the fee schedule can be adjusted to allow for mistakes later. If the insurance is modified, the treatment plan has to be deleted and re-entered for the patient to be correct. I don't see a point in tags in the appointment when it doesn't enter the procedures in the appointment title. It seems like a lot of work to schedule an appointment, because you have too many options. The entry of birth dates is harder than it needs to be. Emails cannot be used in more than one person's profile. Cancelled claims should be able to be deleted from the system. It's confusing when auditing past due claims. There is no way to input how much maximum is left on a patient's insurance for treatment plan purposes. Treatment plans don't factor in secondary insurance coverage. Scanned documents should be able to be grouped in files and letters instead of making a separate entry for every page. Charting on the teeth is too sensitive.

Response from Curve Dental

November 26, 2014

We appreciate Raquel's comments. She brings to light a number of topics we'd like to address. - Scheduling Appointments. The flexibility of our scheduler does allow you to schedule on top of other appointments. Long-time customers have not found this to be a negative; however, we understand Raquel's concern and are taking steps to modify this functionality--quite soon, actually. - Invoice Accounting vs {WHAT DTX AND ES USE}. Curve Dental uses invoice accounting, which has many advantages. Because most of the dental profession is using older management systems that display information in other ways, our new customers may find Curve Dental's accounting style a little different. Once proper training is completed our customers see the advantages of invoice accounting as it presents a more logical grouping of billing information. Specific to Raquel's comments, paid transactions are hidden after 30 days to make more efficient use of space, but with two clicks all transactions can be viewed. - Billing to Insurance. If there's a particular procedure you would rather not bill to insurance, you simply omit that item in the insurance claim. - Transferring Credits Between Family Members. If all family members share one responsible party, then yes, credit can be shared between family members. However, if the family members have different responsible parties, then one account would have to be refunded and the other credited, which can be done quickly. - Displaying Existing and Current Treatment. Graphically, existing treatment and the current treatment plan can be viewed at the same time. Line-by-line details can be viewed for either existing procedures or planned procedures by clicking on the corresponding tabs in the chart. - Diagnosis Date. If you're concerned about the date that a procedure was diagnosed, you can access a quick report to retrieve that information; it is not deleted. - Fee Schedule Adjustments. Fee schedules can be assigned to a specific patient or when setting up an insurance plan (which determines how the insurance portion is calculated). When creating a treatment plan, you also have the option to select a different fee guide, but the default is the fee guide initially assigned to the patient. - Modifying Insurance. Currently, you do not have to delete and re-enter a treatment plan if you need to change insurance information. - Birth Date Format. We have received a few comments on how the birth date is entered (which is yyyy-mm-dd) and plan to allow our customers to adjust the format to one more customary to their area. Obviously a minor concern, but one that will be addressed. - Unique e-Mail Addresses. For security purposes, Curve Dental does not allow an e-mail address to be used by more than one patient. Curve Dental's patient portal provides patients with access to account information, future appointments, and more. To protect this information, a unique e-mail address is required to access the data. Of course, the responsible party can access information for all members of the family. - Deleting Cancelled Claims. In the interest of providing one more deterrent to fraud, we strongly believe that cancelled claims should be a permanent record in the patient's account. As a result the display of the patient's account may be a bit more busy, but not confusing. - Entering Insurance Maximums and Factoring Secondary Insurance. Currently, Curve Dental does allow you to enter coverage used outside of the practice or software, helping our customers gain an accurate insurance estimate. And our software does indeed take into consideration secondary coverage when calculating the insurance portion. - Scanned Documents. We have discussed ways to improve the organization of scanned documents and will make a change. - Sensitive Charting. Curve Dental has two charting modes. One lets you drag the mouse over tooth surfaces to select the desired surface. The other mode requires you to enter the surfaces in a more old-fashioned style. Some may find one mode more preferable over the other.

### "Very pleased I made the transition to modern cloud-based Curve from my old industry standard softwar"

September 6, 2022

5.0

Simply excellent.

Pros

Support and training is top notch, period. They answer every single time and have a ticket system in the software for non-urgent issues, questions, or suggestions. Why don't more do this? Also really like their claims management which is included and the price for the features is reasonable and less than what I was paying to cobble together the same types of features with my old "#1 industry leading software." Transitions are always work, but I'm convinced that Curve set us up for success and I cannot believe how frequently they make meaningful and impactful software updates (monthly!) without additional cost. I suspect that some of the old legacy software vendors don't simply because it is a pain to update every server and workstation (time, frustration, after hours, and sometimes creates massive issues post-update). Curve has none of these issues, they update it in the background and the features are "magically" available without any of my time running around to each station. Time is money and time is frustration and Curve saves me both.

Cons

The Clinical notes are reasonable and you can make templates, however, I wish you were able to make more flexible response based templates. A minor issue.

### "Decent product for multiple practices but it definitely has its flaws"

September 6, 2022

5.0

Decent product for multiple practices but it definitely has its flaws. If transferring systems wasn't such a big hassle I'm not sure if I'd switch again.

Pros

Easy to use, Sidekick and Curve Gro reminders and 2 way texting are it's best features. Transitioning over with patients was easy, took some time to sort through all patients.

Cons

No mobile app for the dentists, cannot move around appts, can only see your schedule. Had trouble integrating credit card payments (physical terminal & via e portal) with the software when I first transferred over. After 6 months, 4 different credit card terminals I gave up trying and just use other vendors and manually input the payment into the ledgers. This unfortunately makes the patient portal almost useless, because patients want the ability to pay their bills online. All the other portal features are really just window dressing. Can only use one sensor at a time.

Reason for choosing Curve Dental

It was the best cloud based option at the time

### "Not sure the pros outweigh the cons..."

September 12, 2022

2.0

I'm honestly not sure it was worth switching over from Dentrix but I can't do that to my team so we are staying with Curve.

Pros

I think the schedule visually looks great, it is easy to schedule patients, and treatment planning/charting is very straight forward.

Cons

Our front office is still struggling with the management software, working with insurance, and running reports. I wish patient photos were bigger. I wish you could take and store cone beams in Curve. The imaging software in Curve really lacks compared to Dexis for even taking bitewings.

### "Venango Technology Center"

September 6, 2022

5.0

I am using in a classroom setting and it has been wonderful. It is easy to explain and very user-friendly. It is easy for students to visualize and learn the basics of navigating dental software for the first time. It becomes easier and easier for them to build on different aspects of dental office procedures using the Curve software.

Pros

I prefer how easy it is to understand and navigate the software. I also like that it is cloud-based and can be accessed from anywhere. I like that I can see when students log in, how much time they spent in each section and I can control which areas they have access to.

Cons

The hardest part of this software is creating everything from scratch and inputing all the information once the training is over.

Reason for choosing Curve Dental

Eaglesoft was way too expensive and did not offer any educational discounts or educational options. Open Dental also did not offer any educational options and was not willing to discuss any other options with me.

Switched from

[Dentrix](https://www.capterra.com/p/2329/Dentrix/)

Dentrix, while free for the educational version, was difficult to set-up with no actual patients. It was difficult to input pretend information and create fake appointments. There was no way to generate fake insurance claims or information and it was difficult to teach or make students understand what I was talking about when describing different office procedures. Also, the software could only be accessed from certain computers in the building and required updates almost daily. The updates almost always changed the layout of the program and/or required an update of the server. Also, the server could not be used while the updates were running.

### "Frustrated. Not user friendly."

April 21, 2022

2.0

From a front desk and accounting standpoint, this is not the system to choose if you want something that is clear, concise and easily understood. It is confusing for patients, difficult for staff to navigate, and the whole process has been quite frustrating. Also, we got excellent phone support before we purchased. Curve customer service and the people who were assigned to our account were super easy to reach, and very supportive. After we purchased, though, it is a whole different matter. We are never allowed to be given a direct phone number to a supervisor or manager. We have asked for additional training, and have been told that 'nobody ever asked for that before' and that it simply was not an option. If I had to do it all over again, I would not consider Curve.

Pros

It is a dental software. I do not have much more to say that is positive.

Cons

There are many, many features that are simply not available in Curve, from coding and charting issues to the way we run our AR and other financial reports. The support we receive from Curve is minimal, and most times does not help us fix the situation at hand.

Thank you for your feedback. We offer a toll-free number that we answer in under two minutes which will be much faster than calling a supervisor or manager. If the support person cannot answer your question, they will involve their manager to resolve the issue. We also offer additional training options. A response for more training is directed to our implementation team to schedule the training. ### "Curve Dental"

September 6, 2022

5.0

Curve is great to work with, the Support team are knowledgeable and quick to respond. The software is always advancing. Users love how easy everything is to use in the software.

Pros

This product is extremely user friendly and easy to train inexperienced users. It is intuitive and visually simple and unintimidating.

Cons

Reporting functionality is broken and slow. The reporting module was built in a way that you cannot filter the reports before running them. If you have a large database, this means the report times out, before the report even loads. It is extremely cumbersome. Also, you should be able to either see a description of the report or a preview of the report before running... So, you are not wasting your time running a report before you know if it is the correct data.

### "Curve has been an asset to our office"

September 13, 2022

5.0

Curve has been an asset in our office and has made our day to day operations easier.

Pros

Curve is very user friendly and easy to use. Constant updates on the system help to make it easy to use and the customer service is top notch. I feel that they really listen to their customers. Curve did take a little bit to get use to but we were coming from paper charts and hadn't used any electronic charting before.

Cons

### "A Hopeful Future"

September 6, 2022

3.0

Pros

The software is very modern and sleek. It is much better than serve based programs, and the stability is much better. Also, not having to worry about a server has been great. Treatment planning on it is great and most aspects for clinicians is great. While not perfect, the constant updates are great.

Cons

The details is where this software needs to improve. There is a lack of true Dental Practice Management. There are some pie graphs and bar graphs, but the metrics are useless because they don't really link to anything and the whole interface is a bit confusing. I think Curve can really make a difference by integrating information that a program like Dental Intel provides. Other aspects of the program still seems like work in progress. I wish there was more support for Fee for Service offices. Also, please allow iPads to have full access to the site instead of the watered down mobile version. Or release an iPad app!

### "Customer Service is Slow if you have Billing Questions"

February 6, 2023

4.0

I've realized cost savings with Curve but they still have some kinks to work out. If you aren't from the USA, definitely keep an eye on your billing and make sure you aren't being billed in US dollars and CALL IN new credit card numbers.

Pros

Cost is reasonable which was a big one for me, setup is easy and it's easy for staff to learn how to use Curve.

Cons

It's impossible to reach the billing department. If you call (and it's not a product demo or purchase) you get directed to leave a voicemail and in my experience I didn't get a response for 24 hours (but suddenly did after saying I'd be writing about my experience on social media). If you update your credit card online, you are automatically charged in US dollars. Apparently, Canadians are supposed to read some small print somewhere that says "Canadians must call to update expired credit card numbers". I missed the small print and was paying in US dollars for months before noticing the fee was up $200/month with the exchange. I find it hard to believe that a software developer cannot come up with a better solution where there are different ikons to click for customers of different countries to update their credit card number. It takes so long to get through to the billing department that calling is definitely an annoying issue. Curve needs more folder functionality; if you see patients for several years you end up with a long list of letters for anything you scan in such as insurance responses, estimates you have provided, patient medical history, etc. It really adds up after a few years and becomes difficult to locate amongst hundreds of letters. Also when your internet server goes down or Curve goes down you are in trouble because you have no way of seeing your notes or the medical history of your patients.

Reason for choosing Curve Dental

TDO is costly to buy initially and I just didn't have the extra money at the start of opening a new practice.

### "Absolutely love Curve!"

September 6, 2022

5.0

I love the reports that Curve has readily available whenever we want to look at something. They also have a lot of charts available to see the practice at a glance.

Pros

We love that Curve has the capability to do most everything we need for our dental practice! Messaging to patients, online payments, scheduling, claims, insurance verification, etc. They also make it very easy to talk to an actual person when and if you need them along the way.

Cons

There are a couple of items that we have submitted as suggestions to Curve (which they tend to implement tickets along the way). These include the option to create forms in other languages, specifically Spanish as our patient base does include Spanish speaking patients. Also, Curve needs the function to create CMS-1500 forms to send to medical insurance as we currently use an outside software for this.

Pros

Curve is really user friendly. Their support team is helpful and they take suggestions into account.

Cons

I would like to have a notes function that is specific to certain aspects of the patient's chart - such as billing or appointment notes (i.e. patient can come in earlier). These notes are not related to clinical care, so I'd like to have them in a separate place than the clinical notes.

### "The why and why not's about Curve"

September 13, 2022

4.0

Pros

I'm really not sure. It's not a bad software but I just feel like it should have more options to "customize" for each practice needs.

Cons

The integration was not the easiest. We brought over our balances from our old software as "converted balances". I don't feel like we were explained how this would affect us as insurance claims were paid. The imaging is still a problem as updates are sent out - this is never smooth. The accounting in still a challenging - "running balance" even when the balance is zero. Insurance processing, insurance claims, when you place Sub on ID where and print the claim, it puts the social security #. We have called several times but it has not been resolved. I ask for an update to download all xrays at one time so I could email to another provider(ex: FMX) but you can only do this when they are in a mount - not individually.

Cons

Lack of ability to total each provider columns for daily totals so each provider knows if they are close to goals. Right now we have to total manually the day before to review in next morning huddle. Also there is not a way to run a report for all of our inventory items.

### "Unprofessional and careless"

February 3, 2019

1.0

So far behind the Curve compared to other dental management platforms.

Pros

Cloud based. That is it.

Cons

Customer service is horrendous. Can't load fee guides on time and make no effort to do so despite multiple requests well in advance. Constantly placated by staff that offer no solutions. Year after year the fee guides are not loaded on time. Staff could care less. Expensive for lack of functionality and having to manually input your fees because Curve doesn't care to meet deadlines. Perio chart is elementary; odontogram looks good but you really can't chart anything other than restorations and surfaces - everything you need to properly diagnose and record on the odontogram needs to be added by creating a note and drawing - its a waste of time; medical history - no log; cannot compare over time - bleeding and exudate require too much effort - who has time to colour in plaque and calculus - why is this even a function? ; estimates on insurance are incorrect; cannot coordinate benefits; everything is on a priority list, but what is a priority really doesn't improve clinical or business functionality and efficiency.

### "Great Cloud-based Dental Software"

December 13, 2016

5.0

We purchased five standing offices. Each had a different dental software. We needed a product that would enable us to view all five schedules remotely, and Curve has been terrific. It has changed how we look at schedules and increased our efficiency and flexibility. All employees can check their upcoming day from the comfort of their own homes. Training on the software is very good, and customer support is very responsive. Curve is always evolving, and the staff welcomes any and all suggestions. Most features are very useful, and, once one knows how to maneuver, they make sense and are easy to use. We plan to continue using Curve, and I have already recommended it to other dental offices.

Pros

I love being able to access all five office schedules at any time from any place where I have my laptop.

Cons

Most issues I have had have been MY user issues! I would LOVE to see a "daily diary" with chores like auto/property carriers use to remind adjusters of tasks. When I want to reschedule a cancellation or missed appt, I can't mark it appropriately AND put it in the queue as a quick reminder to call the patient. I know I can run a report, but I'd love to be able to use the queue as a daily diary as well.

Amy! Wow, your comments are much appreciated. I've copied your suggestions into a message to our development team--they are great! As you noted, when it comes to multiple locations Curve Dental can make your job much easier. With all the data at your fingertips in real time, that's gotta be helpful for a team member in your position. Good Neighbor Dental is an awesome organization. Best wishes!

### "Good for a beginner"

September 12, 2022

5.0

able to track our referral sources and which populations are driving our business

Pros

This was easy to set up, intuitive and easy to learn. Cost effective for a dental hygienist just getting set up in the biz.

Cons

The digital hard tissue charting and periodontal charting just don't compute with my old brain.

Reason for choosing Curve Dental

Price and familiarity

### "Good but needs more support to fix everyday issues "

Good- But they only improve what they want to improve not what weNEED them to improve. very recently the updates that were added my thoughts were like... okay thats minor and didnt really help-- can you fix the copy paste issue???? which is highly frustrating!!!

Pros

Ease of use, constant updates, access anywhere, fast,

Cons

There is no phone app- on the phone it is very Clunky Cannot Copy and paste notes- highly frustrating- tech support keeps giving work around and not solution invoice system is confusing doesnt work well with OON office Weave integration is poor

Reason for choosing Curve Dental

I used curve elsewhere and it was straighforward
