Compared to manually reconciling receipts this is a no brainer. User interface is super simple through the app. Pros Ease of use. Receipt posts to the account, attach the picture, chose a profit center, code it, and I'm done. Takes out so much work on the back end. Cons Occasional issues with double posting if I scanned the receipt prior to it posting. I just wait until it posts to upload the receipts now. From upgrading our subscription without notifying us and overcharging us behind our back, to never replying to my requests for help and our site specialist being consistently unreliable... and it gets worse. They wouldn't even let us CLOSE the account without going back and forth. There's also no phone support and Concierge is automated and deliberately sends back generic, frustrating messages that have NOTHING to do with what you are asking. Seriously, save yourself the headache and don't even try this platform unless you want annoying emails several times a month and charges with no explanation. Pros Nothing- it was a nightmare to try and use. Don't use it if you can avoid it. January 20, 2026 5.0 Fantastic service, great interface, easy to use, and minimize the amount of time it takes me to complete even complex expense reports. My reimbursements are quick and painless. I used to dread sitting down for long, drawn out session of submitting expenses, but with the seamless expense tracking and useful functionality, it takes me no time at all to get things square away. Pros User Interface and Ease of Use are huge factors in why Expensify is so good. It's simple, intuitive, and gets the job done without a ton of overhead. Cons I haven't found any con's yet! It's been the most reliable system I have used over my 30 year career. I have seen zero bugs or issues at all. Pros The mobile app is extremely easy to use for my expense reports when traveling for work. Given I’m in outside sales and on the road a lot this makes my manager super happy because I’m able to capture my expenses as I go and turn in my final expense reports in a timely manner. I use to be horrible about back tracking to scan receipts and uploading for approval. The app eliminated this barrier for me and now I don’t mind doing my expense reports. First, I would like to be able to remove receipt images on my profile. Second, I think there should be an option to check "missing receipt" or "no receipt was provided" to handle cases where a receipt was simply not provided from the merchant, and a textbox that allows the submitter to add context. Third, the new Expensify layout can be completely blocked (it will say that it locked by admin) when the old one is usable. Pros I liked some of the features including OCR scanning of receipts as it made submission of international receipts easier. I also liked the mileage tool and that it can handle multiple stops. Cons Some of the UI is very buggy or isn't intuitive. When submitting receipts, it automatically pauses your workflow while the OCR is reading it. This can take several minutes and sometimes it's far quicker to submit details manually. Also, if you add a receipt but do not attach it to a specific report, there does not seem to be any way to remove it so it stays on your profile indefinitely which is super annoying. The UI needs a lot of improvement. The team should focus on the app from the perspective of a new user and right now for a first time user, its a bit confusing. Also, the app reached through the inbox option should be the face of the app when you log in. Also, the SQL sorting that the app uses is not great as it returns false data. Pros It is easier to track expenses and I believe its easy to view and approve the expenses as well. I like the category wise bifurcation. On my laptop, it flows nicely and the legacy version, in my opinion, is more versatile. Payments and reimbursements are better there as you can easily create a report there. Cons I would prefer it was also segregated date wise and a subtotal was displaced for each date. Mobile app needs improvement. It could be similar to SmartReceipts app where it is much easier to upload and submit the receipts. Pros Expensify has a clean, no fuss interface that makes recording expenses and filing for reimbursements a painless and easy process. The change log at the bottom of each report makes it super easy to learn what the expense team is changing post-submittal so you can make sure to set the fields the way they expect and make it an even smoother process to get your money! Cons I have been using Expensify for about a year now and have not run into any cons that I can think of for what we use it for. I have used competitors products like SAP Concur and manual spreadsheet methods and find that Expensify is simple and just plain easy to use. It's been a delight to work with for 4 years. I do hope not much gets updated or changed, because it's nearly perfect as it is. Pros The best aspect of Expensify is ease of use. In my previous job in academia, I used similar products like Concur (which were just OK) or had to manually download forms, fill them out, and upload and email them. Expensify automates almost all of that process. It's just so simple to drag-and-drop a receipt or invoice and then let Expensify parse the receipt for dates and expense totals. Reports are then generated very very quickly after receipts are parsed and Expensify automatically sends the report to your supervisor (and/or finance). I've been using Expensify for 4 years now, and while I can't speak to the quality of tech support (because I've never needed them!), I can tell you that this is incredibly valuable software that saves a ton of time. I've truly never experienced any issues or bugs. It's 1000% secure and I've never had a problem with it. Cons I've never experienced an issue with Expensify. However, a 'nice to have' feature would be cross-account syncing, such that Expensify automatically ports over receipts/invoices for recurring expenses I know my employer will reimburse and then sends the report by itself. That way I wouldn't even have to collect a receipt for a monthly recurring expense or manually tinker in Expensify at all unless the expense is unique. Review Source BA Bar A. Cons It doesn't read my mind very well. I think setting up an AI learning module instead of setting rules would be the next step in progression. Also, for airline flights it would be good to grab the date of the flight not the date purchased. This is more pertinent to the expense. I originally learned about it from a client who used it before working with me. I signed up for an account and then started recommending it to other clients as well. Pros I love how easy it is for clients to upload receipts. If I am not sure what a receipt is for, they can code it for me, so that I can enter it properly in their accounting software. It is easy to use for both my clients and myself as a bookkeeper. It is also very affordable for small businesses and offers a lot of features. I only needed the receipt management function, but it offers a lot more. Cons I don't have anything that I don't like about Expensify. It works well for what I use it for. I don't use its full capability as far as expense reports goes; I only use it for receipt management, and it works well. My only small complaint is that they email me A LOT. I should unsubscribe from some email lists and haven't.
