WhatsUp Gold alerts me of issues, before they impact the business. There is easy reporting and remediation actions when systems have issues. Cons It can be complex to setup when monitoring business and database processes, besides the standard network, server and VMware monitoring. Easy of use for the simple task Support team seems to getting better Cons Lots of bugs in 2017 version, was like a beta version of 2018 version. Pros What I like most is while there are many features that can be implemented the option to easily setup a ping monitor on a large part of the network quickly is easy. It is very easy to use and not complex to setup. Cons It was easy to setup and implement - the only negative is that if you have the time there are some free products that do the same thing but they take a lot of time to setup and maintain. What you see is sometimes what you get, but there could be so much more potential with the product. Pros the product is not expensive. The ease of use has slightly improved. Upgrades and patches are no longer a problem like they were in the past. Cons I don't trust the alerting The UI and UX is terrible. The dashboards you can create are extremely limiting There doesn't seem to be any built-in "hey you haven't been alerting on X,Y,Z, but you should because our other customers do and they see improved results" The competition is leaps and bounds ahead, but so is their price point. The few times that I had to reach out to WhatsUp Gold support, I was connected to a knowledgeable person who helped get the issue resolved in a timely manner. Pros WUG provides a easy way to scan your environment and from there select which devices you want to monitor. Once the device is monitoring, you can setup notifications. This has allowed us to be proactive about potential issues. Cons The re-scan feature is what I like least. Mostly because I haven't taken the time to fully understand what it does. What's Up Gold is the best tool I've found out there, bar none. Pros It is completely customizable. Even the landing page can be customized to display your environment in the way that you want to see it. Alerts can be taken from the library and/or customized for your needs. A graphic display of your environment with color-coded conditions is useful for a quick visual look at your environment, and I have it running on one of my system monitors all the time. Email alerts, text messages - all customizable. Cons Like any large-scale program, it can be difficult to learn and I recommend attending training to get the most out of the product, which is an additional cost. And the product isn't cheap to begin with. Just looking at the initial screens can be very intimidating. Review Source PD Perry D. I can travel anywhere and get text messages whenever something fails! I am always the first to know when something is down! Pros I have worked with many other platforms and the setup and configuration takes many weeks to perform. What's Up Gold can be set up in a day! It is extremely easy to work with. We monitor over 200 switches on our network. The notifications we get are very reliable! Cons Loved look and feel of Version 16.5. We are staying on that for awhile. The newer versions are much different and I am not ready to change.... my problem. This allows us to proactively monitor the online status of all of our devices. The initial setup was relatively easy and everyday use is fairly simple. But you have the option of customizing how the product monitors your environment. Cons I would like to see a comprehensive Administrator Manual in PDF format. I don't like the current online version of Help and Documentation. It sometimes give false positive, such as email alerts that ping is down, but when I ping the device, I can ping it.
