### "ArcGIS as a mapping tool."

April 3, 2019

4.0

ArcGIS feels swift, smooth and reliable when generating maps of all kinds.

Pros

ArcGIS is a spatial analysis, Imagery and Remote sensing, Mapping and Visualization, 3D GIS and Data collection and management tool which can be used to generate, overlay maps with higher accuracy. I have used ArcGIS software for my Civil Engineering undergraduate period whenever mapping was required. Flood mapping and generating inundation maps can be done using ArcGIS more accurately and easily than other software. Also remote sensing, real-time visualization are other key functions that can be done using ArcGIS. Also, it has the capability to link, import or export with other widely used software like Autocad, MIKE software, etc. Therefore overall ArcGIS provides a set of important features and functions for all parties who are interested in spatial analytic tools.

Cons

Usually, ArcGIS online search from PRO is limiting the amount of information online.

### "ArcGIS is the most popular GIS platform, it allows users of all skill levels to utilize spatial data"

July 17, 2018

4.0

Ability to utilize GIS in an enterprise environment.

Pros

You can perform complex analysis very simply and and create replicable analyses, create complex cartographic designs, and interact with cloud hosted data all within the same platform. In this regard, it is an extremely powerful tool.

Cons

ArcGIS 10.x has been out for nearly 8 years now, yet it is still extremely buggy and can be prone to crashing. ESRI is working towards releasing ArcGIS Pro, which is a completely rebuilt version of ArcGIS, but it is not currently as full-featured as ArcMap.

### "GIS for water resource management "

December 28, 2018

5.0

I used ArcGIS mostly for water resources management purposes such as catchment delimitation, map generation etc. And i use HEC georas when i need river /canal cross sections.

Pros

It's really a very useful tool when it comes to making maps. As a water resource engineer i really like arc hydro tools. And it's very convenient because the software gives us the chance to use various coordinate systems and user defined coordinate systems.

Cons

It requires high speed computer capacity to run a complex models. But given the capabilities of the software i can't say it's a con.

### "The GIS software for all professionals"

February 4, 2018

5.0

ArcGIS brings us the opportunity to make maps where we localized the theaters of the city and know the capacity and measure the access through streets, with all this data we can make a tour for people of the city to know every theater and enjoy of the cultural offer of the city.

Pros

ArcGIS has the major quantity of tool to analyze spatyal data, the software incorporate more than about a hundred tools to analyze data, this can be shapefiles, raster files, radar files, CAD files, and so many others formats that you need or use to do spatyal analysis, another incredible features are the extension like Geowizard where you can modellings through statistical methods the spatyal data and see how it their behavior in an specific place. ArcGIS content tool for all professional who works with spatyal information.

Cons

The price, ArcGIS is a very expensive software not the most of little companies or entrepreneurs have the capacity to pay for it and apply for their work. It is shame because this software has everything you need to analyze and work with spatyal data no matter your profession.

### "ArcGIS: An essential tool for environmental consultants"

September 14, 2018

5.0

There is so much that the software can do that it really has become an essential tool for me. I have overall been very pleased with the features and capabilities of ArcGIS. I am constantly learning new ways to use GIS!

Pros

The versatility of ArcGIS is incredible. In my day-to-day work, I use GIS to create anything from basic tag maps to sediment concentration interpolations that help inform remedial designs.

Cons

Depending on server speed, computer processing, and amount of data in your map, ArcGIS can certainly get bogged down and can become frustrating to navigate.

### "Review on ArcGIS"

May 9, 2019

5.0

Pros

I have been using ArcGIS for a year now. I am a master student studying Environmental Sciences and in this field it is very important to be able to work with geographic information systems. Although I learned a few similar software, I prefer working on ArcGIS when I have to work with maps and geographic information. The reason why I prefer ArcGIS to the other similar software is it is easier to learn as a beginner (from my personal experience). In our department at my university, we sometimes have to create maps or work with mapped information. I like how easy it is to add different geographic data collected from different sources in order to make comparisons. The software enables you to create your own map layout providing you with various features and designs. I usually work with environmental maps showing the ecological problems on my map layout for my research projects. If you design your final map properly making use of the features ArcGIS provides you with, you can make your final output look very good and simple to be understood by even people who are not professionally ArcGIS users.

Cons

As a student I am allowed to use the computers that have ArcGIS with its license at my university and its libraries. However, I cannot use it on my personal PC at home or wherever I am, since the software is extremely unaffordable for an average student I believe. What I also dislike about the software is it gives me a lot of errors when I work with larger scale while I do not get my results have as many errors when I work with smaller scales.

### "ArcGIS Mapping Product Review"

December 19, 2018

4.0

I use ArcGIS to create maps, solve spatial problems and to provide updates to spatial data.

Pros

The ability to create maps, perform spatial analysis and create and manage spatial data. The software has many functions that provide many uses for multiple purposes and provide me the tools needed to perform my job functions.

Cons

There are some bugs and in some cases when doing advanced analysis, certain features are broken. Also, when new updates are released, some functionality is removed and or replaced with different functionality.

### "Mapping Software"

November 21, 2018

3.0

Pros

This is one of the best in the industry, and is a niche product. It is very robust and performs mapping well. There are alot of modules and it takes time to really learn the system.

Cons

If you are not computer savvy and don't take the time and effort required to learn the software, you won't like it. The usability has a lot to desire as things are hidden deep inside of menus. I think overall the software is expensive and bloated. You may only use 25% of the product. The KISS principle is lost on this.

### "It is one of the go to softwares for making GIS analysis, but it is somehow unaffordable to some"

July 12, 2018

4.0

Allows me to do anything i can ever think of. The colleagues on other subteams are very impressed with it

Pros

There is no limit to the analysis you do. There is always more to learn. Literally anything can be analysed, lots of toolbars with really great extensions. ArcScene is amazing since i'm into urban designs and 3D modelling. I love transportation , so the network analyst extension is my go to.

Cons

The huge price tag. Whenever it crashes on me. There should be a better way to arrange toolbars, rather than clustering them at the top

Mostly basic data visualization through thematic maps creation.

Pros

Software of massive capability, regarding to integrated tools and customization of them.

Cons

The disproportionate purchasing cost, and especially when similar software of other vendors emerge. Even more when there is an open source (free of charge) similar software (QGIS).

Extremely positive

Pros

Just like any product, you need to take time to learn how to use it but it’s one of the best products I’ve ever used.

Cons

In between jobs, I wasn’t using this product so when I starting using again there was a big upgrade so I almost had to relearn how to use it.

### "Use it for work everyday."

March 11, 2020

5.0

I have been using ArcGIS for over a decade now and they constantly are updating it to fit with modern technology, which is very helpful and progressive.

Pros

This software is required to use for my job as I am literally a GIS Analyst and this is the only software out there that is compatible with that. The software is very easy to use once learned and helps create maps and data for everyday life.

Cons

There is nothing that I dislike about this software. It is a pretty straightforward software once you learn how to use the tools etc.

### "Beginner Friendly"

May 4, 2023

5.0

My overall experience with ArcGIS has been very positive. I've implemented it within several community projects and with middle school students for several years.

Pros

ArcGIS has many great functions, even for new GIS users. I was able to start mapping immediately and use some really great tools such as Survey123. The user interfaces make the software easy to learn but it also has plenty of technical features for more advanced users.

Cons

ArcGIS has many different components and can feel overwhelming at first. The sheer number of options on the web mapping can be confusing but a quick google search is usually helpful in figuring those out.

### "ARCGIS for intelligence use"

October 8, 2020

4.0

Overall experience with ArcGIS is that it is effective for government agencies and allows you to submit intelligent reports that provide timely and up to date information for superiors that allow for fast action to be taken within the realm of policing.

Pros

What I liked most about this software was the ability to pin point geo crime hot spots. This feature allows you to input data points such as where previous crimes have occurred using x and y coordinates and will provide you with a hot spot location that allows you to see within what kilometre/mile radius these events are occurring in. Another benefit is the predictability feature that tells you where a crime might occur next and within what radius.

Cons

Least liked thing about the software is if you make one mistake in entering your data for your x and y coordinates it will fail to output any information, I wish this process was easier such as on google my maps application.

### "Fascinating program, very useful to deal with problems that are distributed over large areas. "

March 9, 2018

5.0

The ArcGIS Geostatistics tools can not be compared. They are not only functional, but educational. I recently did my promotion job at the university. It dealt with the analysis of all trajectories of hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean from 1851 to the present, and after defining a domain of general calculation, going to study a particular cell of the domain, which was of my interest. Without this tool it would simply have been impossible, not only to load the data, but to do all the subsequent analyzes.

Pros

I particularly work a lot with hurricanes, which are phenomena that move through different time zones, which implies that they must necessarily be introduced in a georeferencing program, in geographic coordinates. That would not be possible in programs such as autocad. Similar situation applies to different meteorological variables. The layer structure also makes it easier to appreciate the characteristics of the maps according to what is required, and to place labels or other characteristics for each level.

Cons

The interpolation functions and tools it offers could be improved. Undoubtedly, the more real data you have, the better, but the mathematical functions and interpolation methods that are currently available can be expanded and improved, and equally, the ones that are currently available could be explained in much more detail so that the user can know in more detail, what to expect when using one method or another.

### "Sophisticated map-making"

February 20, 2020

4.0

I have very specific features that I need to show in a map. With ArcGis I am able to customize my maps as much as I like.

Pros

Easily imports my .csv data or gis shapefiles. Offers a variety of basemaps including Open Street Map and Natl. Geographic. You don't have to depend on Google maps. Converts to a file that can be read and worked on in Adobe Illustrator. Necessary for tweaking maps. Doesn't seem too demanding on resourses. Customer service has been great. One fellow took nearly an hour with me on the phone getting me up to speed.

Cons

Steep learning curve. Confusing credit system. Essentially, you start out with 500 credits in my case. Every time you make an inquiry of their database, you get dinged. I used one of the ArcGis tutorials and saw my credit usage go through the roof. Called cust. service and they explained that was the issue. When I make a route, changing the type of line is a pain and there may not be a solution. You will learn that there are lots of hidden tools under " ... " on most menu choices.

Reason for choosing ArcGIS

Mango makes a great product. It is also easier to use. ArcGis offered the ability to make phone apps and at the time Mango did not. It was a tough choice.

### "ArcGIS Review"

January 30, 2019

5.0

Database management has greatly helped my company because it allows me to store data and apply it to different projects. The ease of developing maps has allowed us to create and submit high quality maps that surpasses most in the forestry industry.

Pros

ArcGIS allows me to build and maintain databases that assist my company in the private forestry industry. As a GIS Specialist I am able to transform that data into easily readable and understood maps for forest management plans, timber harvest plans, reforestation plans, etc. I am also able to assist my field going coworkers by creating georeferenced PDF maps that they can use in other applications to collect field data which I then can post process and import into ArcGIS software.

Cons

The thing that I like least about this software is that it has a habit of crashing unexpectedly. This has been something that has been going on for years.

I'm a geographer so ArcGIS has helped me with my school projects and with my career in many ways, without these maybe my life would be so easy.

Pros

All the tools and platforms that has, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS online and Armap, these allow me to get all my jobs done in plenty of ways and without any trouble.

Cons

The only bad thing is the high price of the software that for people like me hat lives in countries with restrictions to dollar access is pretty difficult and pricy.
