### "Avimark Covers It All!"

We're a 24/7 emergency and general practice facility and we use Avimark as our main software. We use it for scheduling, uploading patient labs, the worklist feature for team communications and tasks. We utilize the timeclock feature as well as the different reporting features as well.

Pros

Of every veterinary software I've ever used- Avimark is definitely the most user friendly and has the most features integrated directly into the software. Patient labs, timeclock, etc.

Cons

There isn't anything I don't like about this software. It covers every need that my hospital needs.

It was much more user friendly than Cornerstone. However, it was outdated. The icons were not self explanatory so it was constantly a search to find the right function.

Pros

Being able to search under “who got” to find patients we couldn’t remember the name or file information but we remembered what they went home with.

Cons

How the boarding schedule worked. The format was not very updated and when we did heavy amounts of boarding the schedule was a mess.

Lack of a running total when building an invoice. We have to continually do trail posts to see where we are as compared to the treatment plan.

Overall it’s excellent. There are sometimes bugs with it (like suddenly not finding any pet named Bella, so you have to rebuild indexes) but for the most part, it works great. It is usually speedy, and it can do some really neat, helpful things.

Pros

All the information you need is in front of you - client, pet, reminders. And it is easy to make it do some really cool things, such as packages, creative reminders, documents attached to treatments or diagnoses, etc.

Cons

We switched to this software from Cornerstone, and that was one of the most difficult times in memory. I am very good with software, and it took me three weeks to feel comfortable with it. Some less proficient folks complained for more than a year! Six years later, and I still occasionally find things it will do that I didn’t know about.

Cornerstone charged a license fee for every workstation. With Avimark, you can have as many workstations as you want. Once it’s paid for, the only cost is for support, but you can choose not to use it.

Very easy to learn, simple yet functional, extremely customizable. I think this is the best veterinary software on the market. We are paper-light and utilize EMRs, which are very easy to use in Avimark. I will continue to use this program for the life of my practice.

Pros

I absolutely love Avimark for my veterinary clinic. I feel that a server-based system is more secure than a cloud-based system. I love the fact that once I purchase this system, I own the software and can continue to use it without paying a monthly fee other than for Avimark support. The customer support has always been absolutely phenomenal and efficient. The program has so many different customizable functions. I also love that when our internet goes out, I still have access to all of my medical records.

Cons

Every once in a while, there will be a glitch that occurs with an upgrade. I honestly think that's my only dislike.

It has been a very good fit for our practice overall, well worth the money, with great customer service for any problems that do arise. Allows for efficient and easy training for new staff.

Pros

It has been greatly utilized for scheduling and inventory management. Having the patient full records easily accessible makes knowing their history effortless.

Cons

Data analysis for specific things is a little complicated. It would be nice if we could do an easy search for all the customers phone number fields instead of just the main one.

I used Avimark for 9 years and would recommend to anyone. I have used other products and Avimark is what I liked most.

Pros

Easy to use and record management. Avimark has great features to train your new staff. Avimark is great to manage your pet hospital, you can customize it according to your needs. It makes it easy to track pet's records.

Cons

I don't think there is anything I would change about Avimark. I Everything was great, there are times it was a lack of training from our staff when we had issues.

It was a good product for awhile, but ultimately couldn’t compare to other cloud based PIMS as our practice grew.

Pros

I liked its simplicity the most although that’s one of the reasons we also made the switch to a more robust PIMS.

Cons

It did not have the vast options or integrations that other softwares had at the time. It wasn’t cloud based so it would take too long to restore and come back.

Overall, everyone here likes Avimark and when we hire new employees, they are frequently already familiar with this program since it is commonly used in other veterinary hospitals.

Pros

I came into the veterinary field just a few years ago which is when I was first introduced to Avimark. The hospital that hired me had always used this program. I found it easy to learn and easy to navigate. We are paperless and everything we need is in the patient's file...staff notes are critical. We scan in or download documents and are able to attach them with ease. The different file tabs and the search box make it easy to find what you need immediately.

Cons

Our version of Avimark is only happy merging Word documents (.docx). You cannot use any other program to create documents. Also, when we want to add a type of reminder (for a test or new vaccine), the Avimark tech support have to do it and it requires them to "re-build" the reminders. This brings in all the old reminder types that we no longer use and attaches them to every single patient in the system, which we then have to remove, individually. Very annoying!

### "Thorough program for all veterinary needs"

Over the past 6 years of using this program our veterinary clinic has grown, and this software has expanded with us. Originally we only had a handful of computers, where as now we have almost 30 running the medical program. I love the ease of use, for our staff, which helped to improve efficiency. Our staff, can room a client, the doctor can see the patient medical records and put in charges in the room, and we can finalize and check out the client in the room. It has made the process easy to have the client in one space, with no confusion.

Pros

AVImark has helped our veterinary clinic by being able to create reports for statistics, keep in contact with our clients, and have thorough records. We have our in-house labs all where they 'talk' to AVImark, which is helpful for our doctors when talking with clients. When looking for a particular answer to a question, such as how many exotic pets did we see this year, or what doctor sees the most patients in a particular zip code, we can create a report for those answers. Over the past 6 years of using this program, there has only been a handful of reports that I could not create, which is spectacular for a numbers person! We have data at the tip of our fingers at any given point.

Cons

The integration and transfer of data from AVImark into Quickbooks can be a challenge at times. There are some payment forms that do not transfer out 'clean' into a Quickbooks file, that requires a little work on the back end, like care credit payments. In addition, we implemented AVImark originally for the improvement of our inventory, and set up an entire system with barcode. Although you can sell product like a typical point-of-sale system with the barcode scanner, on the Receiving-end you cannot receive inventory by utilizing a barcode, which still leaves room for errors.

Avimark has many fine qualities, and many built-in features that make it a very detailed program.

Cons

The dental charts - Dental charts are too generic. Need to have Triadan number system. We would like to attach all dental xrays as one attachment. We would also like to be able to schedule some 10/20 appointments - while others are 15 minute appointments. Overall it is great for our purposes. Paying for customer service is ok for extenuating circumstances, but Avimark should provide a basic level of support for purchasing their product. Even tiered charges for different levels of support or fees, as needed.

As a mixed animal hospital, Avimark seems to be more superior for large animal use/features than competing systems. It also is a super easy to use system despite lacking in some truly beneficial features.

Pros

\-Best system for equine/large animal practices. -Easy for employees to learn/use as system is fairly basic. -Tech support is fast and knowledgeable.

Cons

\-One of the biggest ways we recognize clients are by their pets. Highly disappointing that the appointment calendar only displays Client name, patient name, abbreviation for species and reason for visit. It would be optimal for it to display the Breed as that allows the receptionist to quickly know who the client is who is checking in. -Measurements in inventory only go out 2 decimal points - needs to be greater. -Only allows for 2 price breaks in an inventory item - wished it allowed for more. -Estimate feature needs overhaul - confusing that it does not show/reflect range per line item. It only lumps a range total at bottom of estimate. Also, you cannot email estimates directly out of the system (like you can records). You have to save it to your computer and then email it out of your regular email system. -Does not have a prescription refill count down feature. -You can only book a patient reservation straight through one run/kennel in the system versus being able to maximize by taking advantage of space where another animal may be leaving or coming at a different time. -Some of the most common report searches a clinic would use to track compliance/performance are not prebuilt in the system. You have to have a custom search set up, which requires tech support nearly all the time because they are too complex to build on your own. -Despite same telephone and/or same address, does not always recognize a duplicate client.

Avimark Tech Support had been outstanding! Whenever we have an issue, the technicians are always ready to help.

Pros

The customer support was excellent in setting up Rapport in our practice. I appreciate the daily updates on reminders and know this will allow our staff to better utilize their time in office. It frees up staff time and encourages clients to reschedule and avoid no show fees.

Cons

We like all features and do not have any recommendations for improvement.

### "Slow, difficult to use for managers"

Probably 50/50. Lots of software issues, difficult to use for managerial/customer reports, but easy enough for an end user.

Pros

I do like how easy AviMark is to use for the doctors and techs. It's fairly simple and straightforward.

Cons

I really dislike how difficult it is to pull custom reports. As a technician, I really enjoyed using AviMark. As a manager, I loathe it. I always have to call or chat for customer service to figure out how to pull what I need, especially anything that is custom, and they have to literally have me copy and paste a script. To be honest Cornerstone is much, MUCH superior for that. AviMark's customer reports are absolute nonsense and their chat function for support is horrendous. It's very obvious they have multiple chats going at once and the wait time is bananas even after connected to someone. We also have multiple issues daily with the software because it's so old and I'm sure will be obsolete in just a few years.

Overall, Avimark has served us very well. Initially, collected a lot of interest on overdue accounts we were missing. New users have been added on over the years. All seem to learn the nuts and bolts quickly.

Pros

The software is very easy to use. Tech support is great, but you do have to pay a yearly retainer for this service. This was our first vet software, so hard to compare with others. Have been very satisfied with it for 26 years.

Cons

We don't have internet service, so sometimes tech support can be a little tougher to implement. I feel we only scratch the surface of the software's potential. That's our fault, not the software's. Yearly tech support fee seems a little high to me, but I have no comparison.

Reason for choosing Covetrus Avimark

If I remember correctly, cost for the number of terminals we were going to use was a major factor. Also, it had all the main features we were looking for. I was not involved with the initial purchase.

### "Decent Software "

Overall, Avimark is a good product for its usability of ease of use. There are a lot of new faces in vet med and this software is easy to learn. I have used several other products and Avimark is not my favorite but I'm learning to enjoy it more as I learn more about it. Customer service is top notch though! Always friendly and helpful when I need help with something.

Pros

Avimark is pretty user friendly. It's easy to teach and learn how to operate. The worklists are a great tool and help us keep our clinic on track to ensure our clients needs are met in a timely fashion.

Cons

It seems like there are a lot of extra "clicks" needed to get to some of the information. It would be great to streamline some processes to make it more efficient (especially in terms of attaching documents). The refill function is finicky and the inventory function is difficult to use. I also do not like having to do a Global Apply to do things with reminders. It's almost impossible to shut down the entire system during a working day to make this happen.

We were able to become paperless and do away with paper charts.

Pros

It is very easy to use. It is windows based therefore it is easy to train new people to use. There are multiple ways to search for client/patient info. Reports are easy to run. White board makes keeping track of patients and patient plans easy. Entering line items is easy and you can enter inventory in thto the line item. When scheduling, you can change colors to help keep track of appointment types. You can create canned notes in the glossary to make note keeping easy. It is easy to create canned estimates and post them into the chart. Employees have to sign in therefore you have a trail to keep track of who has done what. You can create word documents and have the client/patient information autofilled which makes discharge instructions easy.

Cons

The customer service is not as available and user friendly as they could be. Fortunately we don't have to call very often. The only con in regards to software, is that you cannot time stamp the posting time to know when a client checked out.

### "Avimark is a solid choice in the Veterinary Vertical"

I have been actively using this system since the 1990's and find it far superior to others on the market. I find the charts read more clearly than their competitor, and I like that each hospital can customize which features they wish to use. They have a great customer support team whenever I have questions which gives me great comfort because this program can do so much.

Pros

We find the scheduling to be easy, even for our new hires. The drop down windows are very intuitive. The same can be said for SOAP notes and charting. We are a paperless hospital so all chart notes, medications and instructions are clear for all staff to see and follow, even from multiple computer stations simultaneously. We appreciate this flexibility as some patients require several staff members to be active participants at once.

Cons

As they are always improving, there are frequent software upgrades. It does make the system work better and allow for more features, but upgrades require our IT team to be available during our off hours.

Reason for choosing Covetrus Avimark

We had used this previously and found it to be effective, efficient and met our needs. Ten years later we are sill very pleased with the performance and have no plans to change. Thank you for providing such a powerful tool.

It's near my heart as I have used it my entire career. I feel like I grew up with Avimark. But I'm slowly and sadly realizing it will soon be time to part ways for a more modern PMS.

Pros

I've seen Avimark work in a variety of clinics: mixed practice, bustling 5 doctor practice doing clinical trials, single doctors practice, and even facilities with flourishing boarding, grooming, and daycare services. It is versatile and can be customized to fit whatever you need. The reporting features can be difficult to grasp, but the data that you can accumulate is exceptional. You can learn the program quickly and accomplish complete a task a few different ways, which allows employees to find a protocol that they best click with.

Cons

The Boarding calendar is atrocious. There is no way to mark a holiday, set a block off, or really have any type of parameters set before allowing reservations to be booked. Reservations get covered up/hidden if they overlap (one pet check out and a new one checks in the same day)...which is the goal to maximize your facility. Ultimately, however, the biggest downfall is that server-based PMS will soon be extinct. Avimark is ancient and clinging to a world of rapidly expanding cloud-based PMS. If you have paper charts and are looking for an easy way to dip your toe into paperless, then go for it. If you are modern and want your PMS to match the caliber of medicine you offer, keep looking.

### "Avimark for Specialty Practice"

The customer service is great. It functions but I would like to use the software more to fit specialty practice.

Pros

Ease of estimates, looking at medical history and a lot of the reporting features.

Cons

We are specialty dental practice, things that would be nice is having multiple referral choices would be nice especially when we are creating referral letters. Being able to email treatment plans directly out of Avimark to the email on file or adding additional emails if necessary. We work with a Cardiology practice they have Easyvet. There referral letter process in amazing. I would like a spot for better communication between staff on a patient so when they call you don't have to go diving into the record to find the recommended recheck. lots and lots of things. I have use Avimark when I worked in GP. I came to this hospital that the original doctor purchased Avimark in1993. I would love to switch to a different software, but I have only heard horror stories and that is the main reason I have not switched at this time. We had to purchase a different dental charting software which is hard to integrate with Avimark.

Reason for choosing Covetrus Avimark

For specialty I would not choose Avimark if I had my choice I would look at different software's that allows better interface and communication with clients and referral hospitals that documents the correspondence as well.
