Managing my business with best practices. Nothing else to say!

Pros

The ease of use is definitely the big draw. New employees pick up on it quickly allowing our business to continue as employees move around etc. Also the power the software has to easily attend to all the different scenarios that storage presents. The revenue management and inventory management functionality makes growing your business and reacting to market trends easy and seamless. The reporting is robust.

Cons

Having to log in after every step. Some functions need tracked but not all. Gets tedious and forces users to use minimal and not very secure log in credentials to save time.

Thank you so much! Your administrator's settings determine whether you have to log in anew each time you want to record a transaction such as a payment or move-in. Same for log in credentials: your administrator's settings determine the length of passwords and use of "strong" passwords. We recommend the latter but also use of programs to keep up with your passwords, not just for SiteLink, such as LastPass.com We do log all manager activities including payments, credits, reversals, unit size/rate/name changes and more. Actively looking for a replacement to SiteLink as our Self-Storage Management software and payment processing.

Pros

Has a lot of Self Storage solutions - access control integration, payment processing, etc.

Cons

Sitelink was purchased by Storable and customer services has been stripped away in an effort to streamline and increase company profit. You now interact with tech support people IF you're luck. Regarding billing issues (which occur several times a year because they are always making changes to increase the profit - you simply have email support??? Horrible. Additionally they continue to raise their costs every 1.5-2 years like clockwork. We have been with them for 20 years and the company is has now become is a shadow of their original self since being bought out. They have won no voter awards since 2017 for a very good reason... Simply go to their website and look at the vast amount of phone numbers for various "support". Even their phone numbers don't have the same area code because they outsource to call centers.

Pretty dreadful experience overall. I could go into details about issues with each of the various services - website development, merchant services, PCI, etc. - but bottom line it is not really technical issues that were ever an issue - it has always been and remains to this day the tremendous lack of customer service, customer responsiveness, customer communications. Maybe it's because i'm a single facility operator, maybe it's because they are growing too quickly and are not growing their support staff quick enough... i don;t know.... but guaranteed i would not wish my user experience with Sitelink on my worst enemy.

Pros

The software is pretty robust and has a lot of really good really strong functionalities, both in terms of moving in tenants and running various reports, and inter connectivity with other adjacent software programs.

Cons

The absolute worst thing about Storable/Sitleink is their customer communications when it comes to coming up the learning curve as a new user addressing questions and resolving issues. Be prepared to spend a lot of time listened to their elevator music because if your experience is like mine you're going to spend a lot of time on hold. The organization is incredibly siloed - so most times the first person you speak to when you call tech support will not be able to address your problem, and will have to forward you and and you'll need to tell the whole situation again and again. I really dread calling tech support because i know that many times (not all times - but most) it is going to consume too much time. So i've turned to sending emails to tech support, and that's fine but you need to manage your expectations, for you may wait days and days and maybe more for turn around. I am user of multiple Storable solutions - Sitelink, merchant services, StorEdge, Sparefoot.... which makes this whole lack of good communications much worse. To be clear, their are good people in tech support once you manage to wade through and find them, i have had good assistance over time. However no one in tech support has a direct line (the sales people however all have direct lines!! if you get my drift) so you're never able to develop a relationship with anyone as a goto person to help address issues.

Reason for choosing SiteLink Web Edition

I chose SiteLink in large part because of all the glowing customer reviews and because they seem to dominate the industry. Have gone through the experience of now implementing Sitelink and as mentioned a host of its affiliate products, its truly shocking to me that all these other users seem to have such a positive tech support and customer service experience. I am left to conclude that either I have a dark cloud following me around when it comes to SiteLink, or else these reviews are fabricated.

We switched gate access to Sitelink awhile back, expecting the same service we always received in the past; however, we've had issues with the gate pads ONLY (Gate works, as long as we open it from our computer). We've had to leave the gate open, because we've had issues with customers unable to get in.

Pros

Past customer service. We continued with Sitelink after purchasing the business in 2019. They were always good to respond and quickly service our needs.

Cons

Their response time is slower and we are still trying to get a problem resolved, after over a week of issues.

I do like it. I know I am not an expert, and there are things I do not know about. And maybe what I don't like about it I could fix if I knew more. But that means; teach me better. I did the videos in the beginning, and things have changed, and I do not have time for your Webinar no matter how hard I try. And the ones I did have been okay.

Pros

SiteLink has grown with my business from a stand-alone in 2000 to the Web Edition with the Hub today. I like checking in using my phone or laptop at home and being able to take care of simple issues without coming to the office for a customer.

Cons

Updates happen a lot, and that is a good thing. But when the changes are to the way something is done, it is hard to find out how to use the new changes. I have often called because I don't have the time to research and find the direction for the recent changes. If a link to a how-to video, or this is what we just did, came in an email after every update, it would be amazing. The other thing I do not like is the Invoices. They look like they were quickly made by someone who just doesn't care.

Without Sitelink we would have gotten sloppy with tenant records, gate codes, etc. Sitelink provides a common sense place for all of the information pieces. This has been especially helpful. The integrations and partnerships from the Sitelink Marketplace has made it much less time consuming to find and execute these additional services. Without these pre-vetted solutions i would have had trouble finding the right vendors. I have used only Sitelink partners and have only made one change in the 10 years which was to switch credit card processing to Sitelink Merchant Services.

Pros

Easy to learn and covers all of the bases. Very tight package, with vetted integrations and few bugs. Almost never have issues. Reminds me of the Apple ecosystem in its simplicity and reliability. Also I understand that the way they have built the server/pc standalone client/ and web client is the most reliable/secure. I simply wouldn't trust to do business with a web only version, because most of our issues over the years have been internet short outages. My manager started using Sitelink in 2007 had only used a computer in a very limited basis. She was able to rent units and do basic functions on day one. My appreciation to the Sitelink Team!

Cons

The only thing i'm going to say is a pro as well as a con. The price seems like alot sometimes when i think of the free or low cost options. HOWEVER; Sitelink has maintained a fixed price for us i'm going to say since we upgraded to the Web version. I believe this was 5-6 years ago. Most recently they even lowered the monthly fee thru the bundled promotion. The biggest thing is this, all of the integrations, pricing assistance, competitor tracking, website integration is beautiful as well as the credit card billing. I know these have allowed us to get and keep more customers per month, at a higher rent and longer stays. At my pricing level that only take 2-3 units to pay for the service. Again seems like alot but i can't imagine where we would be without this nice package. Recently swithed my credit card processing to Sitelink Merchant Services based on my trust of their partnership.

Positive. For the most part I really like web edition. It has new features that weren't available in stand alone.

Pros

I like that I am able to access our records from anywhere. Occasionally I am required to review records in order to assess whether a customer is having gate issues or they are locked out for a reason. I like being able to see when I last raised a customer's rate.

Cons

Some of the web edition features are very different than the stand alone. For example, gate access is not as straight forward in the web edition as it was in the stand alone, same with adjustments - it is not as easy as finding a returned check as before. Occasionally I need to enter a check number vs looking for the individual who initiated the check.

We didn't look at other options, we had stand alone liked that format and liked what we saw with the web edition demo

Over all I think it is a helpful tool to have in the office. However like most things Sitelink could use some adjusting and improvements in some areas.

Pros

I like the options to edit ledgers, I like that I can edit the map on sitelink web edition, I like that you can view customer receipts and invoices all on the same page.

Cons

I don't like the move in process. The discount should be added at the end when payment is made. Sitelink makes it very confusing and difficult.

The fact that it is cloud based is great, as most UK providers weirdly haven't caught up with this. Its great when it works, but OMG when it doesn't you are entirely on your own.

Pros

We chose Sitelink because it is Cloud based

Cons

Unfortunately we have found a corruption in our Sitelink package, but their customer services are simply incapable of understanding our problem. This is a Sitelink problem but they cannot accept this. The comprehension of most of the people on their phone in service is very poor indeed. My faith in the accuracy of their reports is non existent and as I believe our reports are corrupted I cannot import them into my accounts package (Quickbooks). I have spent days trying to unravel this and make manual adjustments to our data.. It is a nightmare, particularly as we may as well talk to the man in the moon as than their service team. We are now looking at alternative cloud based systems in the UK. I would recommend other facilities stay well clear of Sitelink

Web edition overall could be excellent software. They switched over all of their credit card processing to themselves, and it was not planned out well. It's like doing a research project to figure out the receivables as they do not generate any reports. After 24 years, we are moving on to another software that can keep up with our current computers and operating systems. If you do not plan to upgrade your computers or processors, go for it and "stay back in time."

Pros

I don't. The Hub is difficult to maneuver and has minimal features. You could not run your storage business with just the Hub features.

Cons

You can only really look up a current customer. Renting out to customers, you need to jump through hoops. You have no access to change unit costs or reach critical components required to run your business. I feel their web-based software works great, but unfortunately, Sitelink does not keep up with current computers. We switched to Macs, but you can only use the dysfunctional Hub for a Mac. We purchased two Microsoft surface pros-but one cannot be downloaded. Keep up with the times, Sitelink. You are a dinosaur.

It works well with portable storage needs.

Pros

The software is nice because it is customized to our specific industry. Portable storage is not like traditional storage and our software needs to be set-up differently. SiteLink works well for what we need.

Cons

It is extremely difficult to use! It is difficult to set-up and customize as well. Everything about it is just difficult and not user friendly. We have to use SiteLink since it is partnered with our franchise. The cost per month is pretty hefty compared to what you get as well. If you are looking for a software for your storage facility, your hands are pretty tied. WebSelfStorage is a mess (currently) and SiteLink is just as difficult. If you had to choose your poison, there's a lot more potential with WebSelfStorage and you'd be better off going with them.

Business rules like scheduling, pick up, deliveries etc are not only complex but don't exist in self-storage. We have to offer those features so you can run your business, but the portable software becomes inherently more complex. It’s incredibly hard to navigate. The workflows aren’t clear at all. The UI is so outdated and ugly. They keep building other products but it seems like they work together very poorly so far.

I am easily able to track, manage and report the daily activities of our property.

Pros

This is a good property management program. It tracks pretty much any information that I need to provide to the owner in order to keep him up to date on his property and how he stands financially. Most day to day functions I find to be efficient and simple to master.

Cons

The only con that comes to mind is that reversing payments etc can be cumbersome but manageable after some practice.

Sitelink helps you easily and effectively run your facility. And monitor at any point in time what you need to do to keep improving.

Pros

I like the fact the there are so many other companies that integrate with this software. This means you can add tons of features of your choosing very easily!! The task list is also a HUGE help in running my facility. It keeps me up to date on everything I need to do!

Cons

The technical support is great at times and horrible at others. Some of the people are just very rude and act like you're bothering them. I feel like for the amount I pay for the software I should get top notch customer service.
