Pros I love how we can build out standard roofing systems very quickly within the built-in conditions. It makes the complexity of commercial roofing feel very simple. Cons If you are entering quantities instead of doing a takeoff on a blueprint, the process is not nearly as fast as it would be on an Excel spreadsheet. All require external instructions and training, which can slow you down initially. Pros I've used it for 14 years now, and there simply isn't a better software out there. I like the way I can manipulate all areas of the program to suit our personal needs. Cons The change to version 12 from version 10 introduced auto panning by running the cursor to the edge of the screen. This is great, but in Version 10, the arrow keys moved the screen around very quickly and was more user friendly. In version 12, the arrow keys work, but they barely move the screen, so it's no longer useful. I used it at my two companies, later introduced to two other companies where I worked after I sold my company. I've since retired and came back and have now introduced it to the two new companies that I work with. \[sensitive content hidden\] has always been there for me and very helpful. The support team has always been available and very helpful. The EDGE has provided me with as accurate an estimate that one could produce, and also provides the means to purchase and manage a project with materials and labor, as long as the user takes the time to dial in his database and insert the correct information. Once that's done, it's a mandatory tool where I work. Pros It's thorough, adaptable, and can give me what I need. I've used the EDGE ever since \[sensitive content hidden\] started it. The support team is always there and always helpfull. \[sensitive content hidden\] has always been very supportive throughout the years. Cons The snap to box is too small and hard to see on some plans. It would be nice if this was adjustable. It has gone through some major "version" changes over the years. I have always been an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type person. However, I've decided that all of the version changes ended up being useful and/or necessary in the long run. Pros I see it as a full-blown roofing estimating program with all the reports I would ever need. Great customer support. I still bid a few projects by hand, but probably 95% of my bidding is using the EDGE. Performance and speed seem great, but I've never used any other estimating programs to compare it with. As for value for the money, I've never had the opportunity to compare it with other programs. I've had no problems with security. Cons When I was informed that I HAD to switch over to Ver.-10 from Ver.-7.9, since they were no longer going to support 7.9, I was not able to save ANY of my "hundreds" of previous jobs from the past 20+ years. It also didn't allow me to transfer ANY of my custom data base that I had built over the past 20+ years. That switch was a very uncomfortable time for me.
