They are available, they are knowledgeable, and they want to help! Pros This software is designed for overnight camp! It handles so many things that our old software just couldn't do. I particularly love the flexibility with the reporting tool. You can easily build reports that YOU want, save them, and run them whenever you need with the click of a button. Cons It functions on a "season" system. So everything in a year is in one season, and everything in the next year is in a different season. There are some really great things about how that works, and a few things that cause confusion for parents when we have two seasons open at the same time. Overall though that is minor! The customer service for basic questions is good. The format for accepting critique and ideas for improvement is terrible. Pros This is a great service for keeping track of seasonal camper and staff information and forms. Cons 1-If you run more than one camp (we have 2 single-gender camps) you either have to consider them as one camp with different divisions or buy a separate account for each camp. 2-The alumni and fundraising modules are woefully undeveloped once you have been using the system for a few years and your alumni and fundraising records are robust and active. 3-The Community forum for ideas for improvement is terrible and does not make a client feel that their feedback is useful or desired. It is unbelievable that we can house all camper and family information on a singular platform. I love the online forms feature which means less paper waste and ease of access for both camp administrators and camp families. Cons As someone who frequently uses the email feature on CampMinder, I wish there was a way to edit emails without having to select recipients. Saying goodbye to paper forms, and the flood of incoming mail in the spring was life-changing. Pros CampMinder has streamlined all of our previous databases into one easy to use platform. Additionally, without having to maintain all the separate databases and update them from year to year, we have more consistent information available to us. Cons hmmm. really can't think of anything. Honestly though the best part is their excellent customer service and fantastic people that work there. They are always willing to help in a timely manner however small the question or big the problem. There are no pushy sales pitches, they take customer feedback seriously and are continuously developing the product to meet changing needs. Pros The software is easy to use and supports the job of managing camp data well. Cons Soemtimes it takes a while to get it to do what I want it to do. There are a few issues around the camp store accounts for our camp but we hope to have those fixed for next summer. The most difficult part is running financial reports. It is difficult to get the revenue numbers for each camp and each general ledger account line. The reports were often incorrect due to an issue with pulling duplicates if a camper was in more than one session. Pros CM is very easy to use- the financial ledger is very clear. Intuitive and practical. Cons Very hard to run financial reports needed. Lengthy process to extract data needed for reports for corporate office. Room for human error when selecting/deselecting items. March 29, 2021 5.0 Pros I love the customer service and the ease of using the product. I use it all day for all sorts of reasons. Cons There are a few things that are a bit clunky in places but improvements have been made. Every summer camp is different and it's hard to be THE THING for everyone's needs. We are putting technology to work for us to allow our staff to do what each of them does best and eliminate as much manual data entry as we can to be more efficient. Pros The team that helps with onboarding and training is excellent. Helpful and easy to work with. Mostly intuitive, but there are some things that you just have to remember where to find them (Sessions and programs are under Admin Camper Set Up 1). Lots of customization options for your organization. Cons It would be helpful to have a more direct list of steps for the things like creating additional forms under system forms) also requires a check box under financial admin. For setting up the sessions that made sense, but when you get to all of the optional forms, it gets a bit more confusing as to what is done and what needs done yet. Pros CampMinder thinks of ways to help me stay organized that I haven't thought of yet myself! There's always a way to denote, remind, organize, file , and collect data that makes sense and is quick. They help keep all of our camper information in one place and reporting is very easy. The best part is their staff. I have called support many times and am always meet with pleasant, friendly, and knowledgable staff. Pros I love the ease of use. It is understandabe from non-techy people like me! Cons There are a few things that I wish were available, but I know that Campminder is always working on improvements. They are a good company and we enjoy doing business with them. Pros This software has great record keeping once everything is input correctly. Their reports are incredibly helpful and make tons of sense. It's easy to input notes and flags about campers as well. Cons The CEO of CampMinder said fairly recently that they understand their database cannot be the only one -- for example, their e-newsletters are not robust, pretty, or easy to set up. Similarly, their financials are not something that we use. Quickbooks does a better job which is understandable. We also have some challenges when exporting some reports into Excel. October 22, 2021 5.0 Pros This software is easy for admin use and provides excellent customer service for when you are stuck or just need help. Parents say its easy to use and it provides lots of features like medical, billing, photos, and communication that are essential to making sure our camp runs smoothly. I'd like to see Campminder add some more abilities to compare previous seasons similar to how you can compare the current season to the previous season in an enrollment comparison. Pros I like how easy it is to use and how friendly the customer service reps are. Cons There are a lot of things you would assume the software would be capable of like pulling reports from previous seasons that it just isn't able to do. Cons There are some features/functionality elements that should be included in a general camp management software system that don't exist, specifically a workable fundraising module for non-profits.
