We have loved working with CampMinder. Besides the great software, the responsiveness of the support team and the proactive programmers, CampMinder is also focused on improving Camps through advice and articles about managing a camp. These are real Camp people, not just software people.

Pros

It is flexible enough to tailor to our specific needs and their support is always willing to help you figure out a way to do what you need. They are constantly creating new tools and updating the software.

Cons

The activity scheduling module needs to be improved as it doesn't work for us. Also needs more focus on managing staffing although this is currently in the works and looks to resolve this issue.

Everything has a learning curve, and CampMinder was there every step of the way. From the dedicated onboarding team to the payments team and then the client success team, each one brought something special to the experience. Everyone we’ve worked with has been kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. We haven’t met a single person at CampMinder who wasn’t pleasant to talk to or eager to help. Even their \[sensitive content hidden\] are down-to-earth, approachable people who truly get camp and understand what we deal with every day.

Pros

I’ve been working with CampMinder for just over a year now and honestly, they treat you like you’ve been part of their family from day one. You can tell right away they actually care about your camp’s success, not just about keeping you as a client. Their support team is the best I’ve ever dealt with. Every single person I’ve spoken to has been friendly, patient, and really knows their stuff. It never feels like you’re just calling a help desk. It feels like you’re talking to people who are part of your own team and want to help you and your camp thrive. What really stands out is how forward thinking they are with technology. They’re always improving, finding new ways to make things easier, and listening to what camps actually need. You can tell they’re not just keeping up. They’re thinking ahead.

### "Perfect if you camp has limited sessions."

The culture of the organization seems great, and they are really loyal to and proud of their product. They have grand visions and great ideas for their product as well, but in my experience many of these visions never pan out, or pan out years and years after they're expected, and aren't free. We're a year-round camp with many, many sessions, and the software simply isn't flexible to manage those things with unique applications, and the lack of cooperation for API access makes it worse. If you're a camp that just has a few basic sessions a year, this is probably simple and easy....but for us, this isn't ideal, and product upgrades and development take too long.

Pros

Staff onboarding is great. The staff application, collection of documents needed for onboarding, etc, works really well.

Cons

Not mobile friendly. That is definitely my least favorite thing about it. There are "app" options, and they've introduced some API options, but it makes an already expensive software way more expensive.

I would recommend CampMinder to any organization who has a camp of any kind. It is so easy for our customers to use and that is number one to happy parents coming back to register year over year.

Pros

The ease of the navigation, the well trained customer support technicians, the Campanion app... just about everything!

Cons

The new pop-up window that asks if you want to send the confirmation email or not when we are doing a back-office enrollment and processing payment. If payment declines after we select YES in this pop-up box (can't do it before processing payment as the pop-up window appears before this process takes place) then our customers get a total of 3 notifications which is causing confusion, they get the confirmation email we selected yes to send, the payment decline automated email message and then a personal follow up from our camp staff providing instructions to update payment method and making them aware their camper really is not enrolled until we gather a valid payment method. (already placed this feedback into a ticket which was already answered with suggestions to make our confirmation email more clear about payments declining-loved the reply I received with that suggestion!) To piggy back off this a little - when payment does decline the process of placing the camper back on the waitlist or back into the applied status is a little cumbersome. Payment declines>commit changes>session edit>cancel>commit changes>session edit>waitlist/applied>commit changes>email customer - maybe we can auto place people in the applied status when a payment declines through a back-office process just like it automatically does this when a customers payment fails at the time of registration?

This is my second season with Campminder. The 1st season everyone was very hands on and helpful during the set-up process. Support after was excellent. They were available to both me and my team during our learning process. I went into the second season unsure because you do not have a "person" assigned to assist you. I did need to put in a couple of help tickets. The response time was quick, the instructions thorough and they provided the links where I can find instructions moving forward. The help resources and searches are easy to use.

Pros

Ease of use on both the administrative and user side.

Cons

Your second season you do not have a live person assigned to help you start your new season for the first time. That would have been reassuring being it was the first time, and I had not been in the system for a long time.

My experience with Campminder has been very positive. I have reached out to CM for help so many times and every time they are always so kind and do their best to get the info I need or to document my suggestions.

Pros

Campminder is surprisingly intuitive--About a year ago, I found myself running registration for and then helping manage a 10 week day camp of around 220 campers per week. I had ZERO experience in camping. Between the fairly easy to follow layout, the help library, and the availability of live-agents, I was able to figure out how to do everything our camp needed me to do. We had a great summer.

Cons

I can't think of many cons to my Campminder experience. There are a few things in the system that seem like they are relics of early iterations that could still be cleaned up. There are processes related to handling registration and payment for 50/50 custody families that could be improved. But it seems like progress is ongoing and the few things I've noticed are likely to be addressed before long.

10/10... Still waiting for an interactive map of cities to display current campers for recruiting. As it is we have to input addresses into another program.

Pros

We have been with Campminder since nearly the beginning. The way it has progressed and become better and better has been awesome. Campminder has always been open to new ideas that help camps better utilize their software for each and every unique situation.

Cons

Not much! They are always on top of their customer service. Anytime we have an issue our tickets are answered very quickly. I do wish the merge tool of multiple accounts was quicker. Perhaps a notification when the system finds two similar accounts.

I find Campminder to be a robust system that can accomplish most tasks in an efficient manner. Overall I feel that it meets about 95% of our needs.

Pros

I like the ease of getting customer support. I called many times over the summer! Each time I spoke to a rep who was able to offer thorough answers to my questions.

Cons

We still have to figure out a better way to use the system to track campers who leave camp. Person Tags and Notes are helpful - but they just don't hit the mark. I would also like the system to better flag camper requests & disrequests when creating bunks. Lastly - when creating reports - the column headers always need to be changed before I can share the data with parents. For example, the column header for a parent email address in a report would be F1P1 Login/Email. If I'm sending a report to parents - I have to change the column headings.

Love it, I met \[sensitive content hidden\] at Conference in 2008 and saw his heart and passion. The camp i was with at the time couldn't afford CM, but I kept them on my radar and was so excited to finally get on board in 2015. I am so grateful at how CM supports my suicide prevention programs - it is truly one of the greatest gifts I've received in my career. Thank you!

Pros

Generally, the customer service is top notch. I prefer to learn via voice and hands on - they excel at this and are never frustrated with my many many questions. The mass communication systems make my emails nuanced and efficient. The setup takes work, but pays off. Minus a few creative workarounds, the system is specific to my program and does more than I could do with other registration systems (I've used them all). Campminder is an extension of the magic of camp. The company values the experiences I provide to children. The annual conference, social media and customer service all reflects this. CM wants camps to succeed

Cons

My assigned rep feels distant compared to other reps I've worked with in my 9 years using CM. It's forced me to learn a lot on my own and has been frustrating at times. The overall user interface is overdue for an update. The parent facing services are difficult to use and find for them. I'd love an updated app that gives notifications to parents for payments, forms, updates and pictures

Absolutely wonderful. I've never had an "I'm struggling with" situation that wasn't solved. When I occasionally reach out with a Campminder wish, I usually get the response that they are aware of how convenient an addition to the program would be and they are already working on it.

Pros

The program is really what you make of it! Camps all run so differently that it must be nearly impossible to create something that appeals to so many. Not only have they managed to do that, but are constantly working on upgrades to the system and educating their customers on different aspects of the program we could be taking advantage of. I attended "Campminder Camp" this year where they held classes on things not all camps are aware they offer as well as individual meetings with our reps, and round table style discussions asking us what we would like to see in the future.

Cons

The scheduling is difficult, but every scheduling program for camps is difficult.

Easy reporting means that we spend less staff time on licensing and certification compliance, which is incredibly important.

Pros

Campminder is an all-around tool for our camp, allowing us to track campers as individuals and as part of their families; manage their medical, dietary, and logistics needs; track payments and communications; and also do the same with staff. Any time we have needed assistance, Customer Support has been fantastic, giving us thoughtful and efficient advice and making sure our needs are met. Campminder saves us a lot of time.

Cons

I am pretty sure there are a lot of features that we don't make use of yet, but I just saw that there is training being offered to help camps figure out all the ways the software can help, which one of us will attend.

### "Mid season start date? No problem!"

CampMinder is all I've known in my current position and I honestly cannot imagine doing my job without it. It keeps me organized and has so many features built in to help me help our families and campers come out to camp and enjoy the enrollment process.

Pros

I was hired half way through our summer season and my learning period by necessity was quick. I had used the software briefly before but not at the same rate and regularity as I now needed to. I had a 30 minute overview with a co-worker but they were needed in other areas of camp so I was directed to learn with the videos. Having experienced some 'educational videos' before I was skeptical but after watching a few I was hooked. Even now, months later, I can open up the video I need and refresh my memory in about 7 minutes without having to chase down a coworker, explain the knowledge gap, walk me through it, and then return them to their task. When I can't figure out the problem with the video (or its a specific report I need to run), I call my friendly customer service reps and have a blast learning with them. They are always able to talk me through what I needed to do and never make me feel bad for reaching out, even if it seems to be an easy solution. And when I had a report that was very complicated (lots of data with overlapping variables), they made sure I knew exactly what and why I clicked each option- and gave me time to write it down for next year!

Cons

We have some families with multiple adults per child and I never am 100% certain who to call for things like Lost and Found or Waitlist spots, I wish I could have an easy way to know which adult is the main point of contact.

I am having a hard time coming up with something off the top of my head right now. It is something for us that different people across the organization have more knowledge of certain sections of CM than others do so if you don't use something often it is easy to forget the process.

### "A Camp Database Built for Camp People"

Pros

CampMinder is the most essential tool to run our camp. It houses all of the camper and camper family information, staff information, financial information, travel information, summer blogs and photos, AND does mass communications, unlimited reporting and much more. The best part- the staff at CampMinder are incredibly helpful, endlessly patient, and very responsive. You can call them anytime (during the summer, literally anytime, but during the off-season it is normal business hours) and they are always willing to help you find a solution, hop on a screen share, or investigate things on your behalf. They're great!

Cons

I wish the financials and communication pieces could be overhauled. In the communication realm, you can't update an email list for a mass email- you have to filter with many criteria to get a certain list. Financials are not always clear, and there are no options for multiple household payments (divorced parents), or manually scheduled payments. The batch billing as a whole is very confusing, as are the financial reports that are generated.

CampMinder has allowed us to streamline our registration process and enabled us to have so much access to information via the various reports that we can run through the system. The software has allowed us to better track how students find out about us and follow up on leads and inquiries. We are able to track the workload and enrollment numbers at any time.

Pros

CampMinder is very user-friendly and has all the features needed for effective enrollment management. From being able to run enrollment reports, to be able to see if a parent opened and read an email, to allow parents to register their child for camp and make payments online at their convenience. CampMinder has helped our organization bring our enrollment process to the 21 century. Before getting CampMinder we were still registering students via a paper system. CampMinder has allowed us to have access to so much more information at our fingertips.

Cons

There is no adult module and adults have to register themselves as children. Our adult students do not like having to use a workaround to register online. However, our adult students still love that they can sign up online at their convenience and make payments. Although this is what I like least about the software, CampMinder is working on an adult module at the moment and it is currently in Beta testing. Our adult students will be thrilled when this module is available to them.

I love this product and company. Help and training is fast and easy. Employees are friendly and responsive. In summary; CampMinder has changed my life!

Pros

When we switched to CampMinder we were able to consolidate at least 5 different products. CampMinder handles camper registrations with wait-lists, staff applications with background checks. Being able to upload forms and documents has made it easier for us and for the parents. Families can order one-way emails, photos, labels and more. I can create just about any report I need. But I think the one thing that changed my world more than anything is how the wait-list works.

Cons

It is a small thing, but there are no capacities on additional options. I have to watch our horseback riding add-on and manually turn it off when it is full. This causes me stress because it could overbook.

I like the overall organization and setup of CampMinder. I also think that most features are very flexible and allow you to personalize the options as much as you want. Running reports is specific and adaptable so that you can get the exact information you want each time.

Cons

There is definitely a learning curve. Some of the features are not able to be personalized, which really hinders the reports features. For example, running reports on activities/electives preferences only gives you a specific set of information to sort by. I also think there could be improvements with the scheduling feature.

We are able to manage our Camper, Parent, Staff and Alumni information in one database, with effortless transitions year-to-year. Our payment portal is simple and effective, and our online registrations have increased every camp season since signing on with CampMinder.

Pros

Ease of use for people of all technical abilities. End user experience is very intuitive, and the flow of information allows for easy reporting and communication across user groups.

Cons

We have a very large camp, 72 sessions, 1296 programs, 1500 campers and 300 staff. The system seems to slow down during peak usage, and during peak season. It's understandable based on our size, but it is cumbersome at times.

Overall it has been extremely positive. I have always been very happy with their support services in particular. The support staff actually sat down with us and has done calls with us to go through features and how to accomplish certain tasks. The parents don't seem to struggle with it very much which at the end of the day is really what matters to us.

Pros

They have a lot of useful and diverse features. The staff support has been excellent. They are constantly upgrading their product. They use a feedback tool to collect a pool of user feedback and data to make updates rather than just deciding what to do from within. They are consumer minded. They provide support directly to our clients if needed.

Cons

It wasn't particularly easy to learn to use. I have to do a repeat training every year for my staff because they have a hard time remembering features- it is not exactly natural flow. Sometimes it is very inflexible.

Reason for choosing Campminder
