Pros

As a used bookstore we have utilized the customer features to track book credits. This allows us to see when our customers were last in and contact info to get them back! Simple and easy to use!!

Cons

There is little I don't like about this software.. it's a software that it always in evolution. Having consistency when having doing reports... A default selection choice would be nice...

Overall program is easy to use but needs some improvements. All employees are able to enter sales and package ability and discounts is nice. Trying to get the discounts to add to the whole sale don't seem to function but that could be us. I would love to see a zoom type training question and answer be presented so that we may unlock and understand all the hidden features the program has.

Pros

Ease of entering product, Easy to train new employees on, Saved sale abilities and remote work stations.

Cons

Needs better reports, no section to add mutiple images for a customer, regarding purchases or product issues. Reports are very basic, no way to create a multiple invoice print-out for customer in-house charge accounts. You have to print each company individually, wastes time for end of the month billing. No way to edit a sale without voiding sale such as incorrect serial number or customer id number. IE: if wrong Mr. Smith is entered you cant change it to the correct Mr. Smith unless you void ticket and start-over which is impossible with credit card processing. Needs a quote saved section, not just saved sales so you can distinguish quote from sale. Does not allow for contact phone to be printed on receipt, I understand security on this but it would be nice if there were an option. Close out process is a bit cumbersome. While easy to do there is so many questions and if you accidently post before printing report you have to start over. No scheduling or time clock option and a adding chat program would be great. The serial number process would be great to be able to add after the sale as in special orders we do not have a serial number to add until the product has been ordered.

Ease of checking out customers and keeping track of inventory.

Pros

Pretty simple and explanatory interface. Not difficult to teach new hires how to use. Tech support is usually pretty speedy and efficient.

Cons

Every time there's an update with the software or with Windows 10, we have to call tech support because something becomes incompatible or switched off. Also unhappy that we started out being able to use our POS as a touch screen, and when Windows 10 became the operating system, it was no longer able to operate as touch screen, tacking on time to our checkout speed. Some of the report functions are a bit tedious to use. Many customers unhappy that we can't tell them how far along in the loyalty program they are without us doing some major research; wish it was just automatically tracked in their account.

We have used this POS system for 5 years now. As gold subscibers, we get access to immediate and very helpful customer service that I feel is a good value for our money. Huge shout-out to \[sensitive content hidden\]. He is very good at walking me through making changes to our system and teaching me how to do things. Having an option for a membership and loyalty program has been an key feature for us. We recommend Retail Edge to new markets similar to our that need to do complex consignment sales and discounts.

Pros

I love that Retail Edge provides us a point of sale system doing consignment and wholesale. We run on a lot of grant funding so being able to pull reports with specific detail is outstanding. The customer service is always good and I am able to get assistance with any questions or problems.

Cons

It can be confusing to new users. There is alot the system can do and the learning curve can be tricky.

The program has been for the most part flawless and super stable. We've been using it in our store since 1996.

Pros

Easy to use and teach new employees how to use RetailEdge. The Inventory control is also very good in that we can monitor exactly what we need to see where we need to make adjustments.

Cons

While RetailEdge is great for inventory control it is cumbersome in some aspects. RetailEdge does not allow for multiple vendors to be assigned to the same item. Only 1 main vendor per item. When using the matrix there are only 100 fields to be entered on any particular element value like Color or Size and while it hasn't really happened on size our Color Values has grown to Matrix Color 1, Color 2, and Color 3.

Customer service is great. Easy to use and many functions that help run a business. Updates are regularly issued.

Pros

Ease of use when you first start using it. There are many reports and functions that help running my business. As a music store, I like the ability to create packages. I use it for putting guitar and accessory packages for special sales.

Cons

I don't really like the change in the look of the POS screens, they look cartoonish. I really don't have the time to learn all the functions as some are complicated.

Oh! This has been a great experience for managing inventory and for processing sales in a professional manner. Both for the customer and cashier's experience.

Pros

I like that I have the option of Free email tech support and that updates are reasonably priced via the bronze package. The replies are always courteous and helpful. Plus, I know that I have the paid one off tech support service which I used once due to the urgency of the issue. I can't complain about the actual software because I am extremely satisfied.

Cons

I wish that I could refund a store credit via cash instead of only being able to apply it to an invoice. Sometimes, I need to refund a customer their store credit and I have to do lots of work arounds. It would be nicer to have a totally revamped discount system. I find creating promotions and renewing them tedious. The options are adequate, but the interface is not user-friendly for regular changes... it just needs to be an easier faster process for the person inputting the promotions. Again, possibly a total revamp instead of updates. Maybe an up-loadable spread sheet would be an option as there are sometimes so many items to create promotions for that my ability to create promotions becomes frustrating.

Wish the support was 24 hours. It would be nice to be able to call support at any hour, but we make it work by scheduling tech stuff early in the day since we are in the west.

Being able to keep our data on site is reassuring for us. Making daily backups and taking the information off site in case of fire has increased our security level.

Pros

The sales process is easy to do. The screens are simply set out so that you can find what you need when the sale is occurring. The inventory entry process is easy to follow but gets so much easier with increased use of the program. There are options to customize things so that you are "fitting" your business to a software program. Customer service was awesome and helped us quickly troubleshoot some hardware issues that made daily operations cumbersome.

Cons

The prompt for the description field after you fill in the stock number is a little annoying. We just manage it by completing the description field first and then scanning the UPC in the stock number field. I wish the inventory stock number field would auto assign the next number.

We moved to Retail Edge in 2017 from a DOS based system we bought in 1991 which still met our needs but could not work on anything beyond Windows XP. We asked the same person who picked out that software to help us shop for a new system. Retail Edge was there for the transition and has made several changes to their platform to meet our needs and requests.

Pros

The product is always evolving with new features without expensive memberships. The technical support team is top notch, available without a wait, and patient with non technical people.

Cons

I would like more flexibility in reports. They have an extensive choice of reports, and perhaps I do not know how to use them properly to get exactly what I want at times.

I have used a version of Retail Edge for more than 10 years. As far as a retail programs this has been far easier to use than other programs I have used in Retail stores have worked in over the years. I have been working in retail over 50 years.

Pros

Tracking customer and retail sales. I like creating input for new inventory and then printing tags for the merchandise.

Cons

Creating reports for departments and vendors vs cost and inventory. The recent upgrade of Retail Edge is based on Microsoft and the sales screen font is much smaller which is a handicap when the store is busy and having to do things quickly. Shouldn't be challenging to make sales. It would be nice if font size was adjustable throughout.

Made my product inventory easy to handle. Does not need much computer knowledge to operate. Easy to capture customer's information and use the data to develop promotions and obtain more return customers to our crystal showroom. Lots of functions for data backup and security to prevent unauthorized entry to sensitive data ( about inventory, customer info, sales and account info etc..)

Pros

I have been using RetailEdge POS since 2014. Glad to say that I'm very satisfied with this software. It's very easy to learn if one can commit just 1 to 2 hours for one week when newly bought. The functions provided are certainly worth more than the price tag of this software (I'm not kidding). The function buttons and menu items are easy to navigate and after a few tries, it becomes natural to navigate. When compared to other competing POS software which may look more colorful and user friendly at first, they sell functions which are already included with RetailEdge as add-ons. A good example would be RetailEdge's gift card function, membership function, cupon function and many more. With the other software, you will end up paying for each add-ons and the final cost of owning that software can be quite costly. I have been persuaded by many firms that want me to switch over to their POS software but when asked if they can give a software that has the same or more built in functions as that of RetailEdge AND at the same cost of RetailEdge, I never seem to get a reply from them...haha. Any software is as good only if the tech support provided is reliable and prompt and the folks at RetailEdge have not failed me once. The tech support cost is again affordable when compared to other POS software. Oh, before I forget, the constant software update provided is simply awesome. You can be assured that you're in safe hands for the long term when you purchase RetailEdge POS.

Cons

Not much actually. I just hope that the gift card and membership (points system) functions can be expanded more in RetailEdge POS. These are the only functions I personally feel that has not caught up with other competing POS software. There have been many updates and improvements in RetailEdge pos EXCEPT for gift card and points system functions. If these can be made competitive with other software in the POS market, I'll be happy as lark. Maybe as I write this review, the good folks at RetailEdge are already coding new functions and updates for the above 2 functions....finger crossed.

RetailEdge has been pretty flawless for me, and the rare occasions I've needed assistance, I was taken care of promptly by their team. Everyone has been very professional, and I've never felt "rushed" off the phone when needed support. They take their time, explain things thoroughly, and are kind in the process.

Pros

I love how easy it is to navigate, and customize different reports. It's great to be able to really "drill down" into the inventory and get all sorts of useful data on products. This has been a HUGE help in determining which items to stock more of, and which ones to let go. It really streamlines my inventory! I also love to customize the setup for multiple users, so not every employee has access to all the features. There's nothing it can't do so far!

Cons

I'm having trouble thinking of anything I really don't like... The one thing I wish it did, is have the ability to attach a "time-sensitive" note for individual customers. Similar to the "note" that pops up when selecting a customer account, I wish there was a feature that could let me know when their professional license expires (or is getting close to expiring), so I would be automatically prompted to ask for their updated copy.

Reason for choosing RetailEdge

Being able to download the demo version and play with it, as well as easily chat with RetailEdge over the phone, made it a "done deal" for me. The demo version is AMAZING, because I got to use it and mess around with it and really be able to gauge whether or not it would work for what I needed. I love that it's somewhat simply, on its face, but gets very detailed the more you get comfortable in exploring the features. RetailEdge, for the WIN!

I would recommend RetailEdge to any store that is getting started because it is affordable and the IT team is able to speak in terms that is understandable.

Pros

I have used RetailEdge for 4 years now and I love having the gold level which is very inexpensive. I know I can call them and get any question answered usually within an hour.

Cons

I wish there was a training manual that I could download with the basics for my employees for returns, exchanges, gift cards, entering inventory, etc.

Reason for choosing RetailEdge

I looked at other companies but honestly, they wanted thousands of dollars just to get started and with starting out as a new business I wanted to spend money on inventory and not a fancy computer system.

what I like most is the possibility of doing a free trial so that you're not forced to use a tool that doesn't suit you.

Cons

I find this software a bit complicated to use although it works well, I would have liked something very simple.

RE was purchased about 20 years ago when the business first opened, and I have been here for about 7 years. RE is easy to use, easy to understand, easy to make adjustments as the business grows. Customer service has been great, even though we are on the freebie plan, and they are responsive to my emails as I've grown into the managerial role and my responsibilities have increased.

Pros

I like that RE is all we need for inventory management, POS, reports, etc. It's easy to use, even for new hires, and easy for me as a manager to adjust as needs change.

Cons

I can't think of any cons, because it does everything we need it to.
