We required an agency-wide application because of the variety of our activities. Our team has found Sage to be straightforward to learn and use, particularly for invoice entry and approval procedures. Pros Sage Intacct's collaborative features are a big plus for me. The primary navigational ribbon located at the system's top makes clicking through to explore further a breeze. Receipt of revenue can be easily recorded, as can the complicated intercompany receivables that go along with them. Cons The difficulty certain managers and approvers have in searching for specific data is currently my main complaint, but I'm confident that this can be fixed with some fine-tuning. There are many cheaper options available that are functionally superior, especially as it pertains to reporting. Pros The only module in Sage that I find useful is the contracts module for deferred revenue recognition. I'm not sure how the competition compares, so that may not be saying much. Cons Sage reporting is terrible. If you add an account it does not automatically add to your reports. Quickbooks is preferable, which is laughable given the price of this software. Its also extremely difficult to learn how to create and manipulate reports. Who wants to spend weeks in classes? Its not user friendly. Also, the invoices don't include billing periods which should be standard for any accounting software. We have to pay for an add on from Armanino which is not ideal. It is a flexible and expandable platform that can be adjusted to meet evolving business needs. Pros The implementation process was fantastic and very well organized. Day to day administration of the software is easy because of the quality of the written documentation. We have found Intacct to have the flexibility we need to adjust to our business growing and changing over time. A big piece of this is the large number of marketplace partners providing third party solutions to expand Intacct. Cons The most difficult things in Intacct has been the customer report writer. The stock reports are well done and are a good starting point for creating your own reports but when a more customized solutions is needed the custom report writer is where you need to go. The good news is that the custom report writer is very well featured and you can pull just about anything you want to with it. The trade off is that it is very complicated and writing the report and doing the necessary tweaks is very time consuming. Most of the information is straightforward, you just need to get in and use the system. It is worth getting some training, especially for areas where you want to focus on. Also, if you are a former MIP user like me, I think it will be easier to get used to Intacct. Pros It's pretty easy to use. I was using NetSuite before, which is a good system, but Sage is a lot easier to use and provides the same things, such as revenue recognition and allocations. I also love that there are many interfaces with so many other systems, such as Salesforce, bill.com, etc. Cons Creating reports can take a little time to get used to, but once you figure out how to maneuver it becomes pretty straightforward. Cons Support is hit or miss depending on who you get. Some of your other platforms that you own don't truly integrate well with SAGE which is frustrating. I don't like that you have to pay to access educational material on your platform, that should be at no cost. Although it took some getting used to after switching from another product, with daily use it became simple to navigate and use. I particularly like the multi-entity consolidation feature as we have operated with subsidiaries. Pros Sage Intacct is a good value option for organisations with a high volume of transactions. Some similar cloud-based accounting platforms can slow down once transactions reach half a million, but Sage Intacct can handle them. The updates have improved the user interface making it more user friendly and easy to use. The real-time dashboards provide impactful insights and allow you to make important decisions more quickly. Online access makes it accessible for both office-based and remote workers, whilst offering good security. Cons Sage Intacct does not have many cons for me. I do not like the search function as much as other similar software I have used. It can be difficult to follow a trial of what has happened in the system as it will only bring back a limited amount of information. A click function to deeper dive would be useful. Pros I like the online access so IT isn't having to help. There are some functions in invoicing that I didn't have before but there are also some negatives. Sage is basically easy to use. Processing AP payments is easy. Cons Sage doesn't have some things and you can't just sync it to a database to get information out of it without another subscription so value for the money is not great. It seems like bugs come on just before an update is going to happen which seems weird. Customer support is ok but could always be better. We previously used Sage 50, so moving to a cloud-based system gave us real-time visibility and much better reporting capabilities. After implementing automation, we eliminated a lot of repetitive tasks in AP/AR and month-end, which significantly improved accuracy and turnaround time. The combination of a more modern platform plus automated workflows really streamlined our financial processes. Pros It made accounting reporting feel easy. The visibility and automation were the biggest wins. Importing bank files during bank reconciliation has improved that process significantly. The automation has also been extremely helpful. Cons The only challenge we experienced was around integrations. Sage Intacct doesn’t connect directly to our bank, and syncing with Concur came with added fees. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it did add some extra steps. It is not as easy to use as a software like QuickBooks Online, but is much more customizable and has greater controls. You can easily create recurring transactions such as journal entries, bills, and invoices for automation. The import function for journal entries has been heavily used in our month end close process which has sped up reconciliations. Cons Biggest complaints my staff have had with using Sage Intacct is that it isn't as easy to delete or correct mistakes like in QuickBooks Online. However, I believe this is a benefit as it provides a better audit trail. It also helps my staff to be more diligent in inputting information correctly the first time thus cutting down on mistakes. Sometimes it also takes a few clicks to get from the general ledger down to the transaction you are looking for. Pros Once you get into the system, it is very manageable and easy to manipulate for your needs. It has a ton of reports that you can customize yourself, with no assistance needed from the Sage support team. It's easy to add items and projects as needed. Cons The inventory system is not suitable for our needs. Due to the amount of line items that we are using, and different manufacturers of materials it has become more of a headache to use the Sage inventory system than to use Excel. One of the negative comments was that "You can't go back and change the numbers." GOOD. As a professional Accountant and Tax representative, being able to just change the numbers without a proper journal entry reversing the error and putting it in correctly causes significant transactional tracking problems. I use and recommend Sage products for my clients and that detailed audit trail is critical in locating and correcting problems and explaining things during an audit. NEVER change that! Cons I don't like that your sales department doesn't fully understand the product nor do they know anything about bookkeeping. So I can't just send my clients directly to you. I have to call, find out which product is best and then have my client buy it. I have one client that spent $60k on a software she didn't need because a Sage representative told her your software couldn't do what she needed when I know for a fact that it CAN! Your salesperson simply didn't understand the full capabilities of the software and how to use it. That's not good.
