### "Powerful workflows, but full-time help will be required."

January 26, 2025

2.0

Overall, my experience was poor...though there were a few highlights along the way. Again, the segmentation and workflow actioning that it provides are very powerful. But you're cowed in by a labyrinth of folders and redundant workflow rules that make it very hard to remain nimble once you've built the whole system out.

Pros

Powerful workflows, particularly when attached to lead nurturing email campaigns. If your team keeps a very clean Salesforce or CRM instance, there's an awful lot you can segment and action off of.

Cons

If something is broken in the product, you'd better have a PhD in Marketo in order to track down exactly what it is. The product's usability and assorted tooltips leave a lot to be desired. This is why 95% of Marketo customers have to hire a full-time administrator to wield it. You either know how to use it from deep years of experience, or you're going to have to spend a lot of time figuring it out.

### "Robust Application "

June 29, 2025

5.0

I have a positive experience with and would highly recommend it overall. The ability to analyze data captured by this application is amazing and we were able to capture great insights and pivot accordingly. The app is advanced and can become cumbersome and manual if managed incorrectly by a team, which is something we experienced at first.

Pros

is extremely robust compared to other similar products I’ve used for lead management and marketing automation.

Cons

I will admit it is not for the faint of heart! Teams using will have the most success with experienced and technical Marketing Ops personnel to onboard the solution and engineer the respective workflows and automation according to their business.

### "A Marketing Automation Platform that can do anything, any way."

January 8, 2026

4.0

Overall, Marketo was hands down my FAVORITE Marketing Automation Platform. the versatility and ability to do the same thing 100 ways is both a blessing and a curse; blessing if you create playbooks, curse if everyone does it their own way. Sit down with admins and users and determine major processes, workflows, and master lists together to save a headache later

Pros

I love the way 's file structuring allows for really detailed nomenclature. in addition, the full customizability of leads and their data, fields, and querying off those fields is really great.

Cons

I pretty strongly dislike the "Marketo Logic," where at times logic filters in Marketo do not make sense. It is important to take time to understand how Marketo handles IS, IS NOT, CONTAINS, and NOT CONTAINS to avoid sending mistakes.

Pros

I use Marketo to manage our email campaigns. I really like how organized it is. The system makes it easy to go back and pull data from previous campaigns and run custom reports. It makes it easier to collaborate across teams and I can find data myself without having to ask the campaign manager.

Cons

The UI took some practice to feel comfortable navigating because it has so many options. Once I figured out what was needed for my role it became much easier.

### "Easy automation for campaigns that hit the bullseye."

April 28, 2025

4.0

It’s allowed us to scale our client visits much more efficiently thanks to automatically-followups and content personalization, which has resulted in higher engagement rates without having to stretch out our small team.

Pros

We were able to create far more intricate email campaigns with letting us automate several steps we would otherwise have to conduct manually. I love the lead scoring and audience segmentation features, it help us make sure that we’re targeting the right people at the right time which is very important for a small marketing team like ours.

Cons

It’s also not the most beginner-friendly platform. The process of establishing smart campaigns and integrations took longer than I had anticipated, and it’s almost necessary to have someone who has a technical background or extra training to make full use of it.

### "Marketo Engage Review: A Graphic Designer's Perspective"

November 10, 2024

5.0

Overall, is a robust tool for marketers, and while it offers great design-focused features for email campaigns, it can be complicated for graphic designers who prefer simpler, more intuitive platforms. It's ideal for designers working in larger marketing teams but might be too complex for those looking for a more straightforward design tool.

Pros

offers powerful email marketing and automation tools, allowing graphic designers to create and manage visually appealing email campaigns with ease. The platform’s seamless integration with design assets and its ability to track campaign performance makes it ideal for creating targeted, visually engaging content.

Cons

It can feel overwhelming for designers who are not focused on marketing, as it requires dealing with complex workflows, data, and integrations, which can detract from the creative process. Its interface can also be difficult to navigate, especially for those unfamiliar with its marketing-centric tools.

### "An excellent Marketing Automation tool and very easy to use"

April 3, 2023

4.0

Marketo is expensive but if you want enterprise automation platform and you are heavily focused on automation its the platform to go. You should have one very good marketo expert but once the implementation is done properly it runs very smoothly.

Pros

Marketo is easy to use once implemented well. The set-up, filters, data management etc is very intuitive and caters well to automate customer journey mapping, email marketing, lifecycle management, lead scoring etc. It is easily integratable with most CRM, other analytics tools, social media platforms etc. which makes it easy to build a unified martech stack.

Cons

Marketo's analytics section has very limited customization. Unlike SFDC which is heavy on customization, the same is not possible on Marketo. If yo want to build dashboards etc. you need another tool which is also not very easy with all platforms. Additionally, while the helpdesk is responsive, customer service in general is not as great! They also don't come up with upgrades that often or atleast dont communicate it to customers. Its more self-help system here. Last but not the least, their trainings and certifications are super expensive.

### "Marketeo engage – improve your customer engagement"

October 31, 2023

4.0

What I like most is its marketing automation feature, which streamlines our email campaigns and allows for in depth customer analysis. This means we can provide personalized content to each user, ensuring effective communication.

Pros

I've been using and it's been helpful for our email campaigns. This platform offers a variety of tools to properly target our audience, create emails with visually attractive landing pages and analyze the results of the campaign, this gives us a better visualization of performance. The best part is that it is quite intuitive, making it accessible to both new and advanced users.

Cons

The cost can be high, which could be a concern for smaller businesses. Additionally, the wide range of features can be a bit daunting for newcomers as it takes some time to learn and get used to.

### "My experience with Marketo"

May 28, 2018

4.0

Pros

Marketo is a great marketing tool that allows automating repetitive marketing activities. I am using Marketo since 4 years. We use it to improve our lead generation process and we integrated Marketo with Salesforce. We are using Marketo Forms embedded on our website to get the personal information, track the activities done by leads and notify the sales reps. We are able to track campaigns (members are synced to Salesforce campaigns) and lead sources to measure effectiveness of marketing activities. We created a series of program templates that can be replicated to manage events, webinars, newsletters or email blastings. Cloning the templates all our marketers can start a new program easily customizing just the details, without errors and saving time. I want to mention a powerful feature that I use daily - smart lists - they allows to target a specific audience and continuously been fed with new members that match the criteria.

Cons

\- Integration with MS Dynamics: we started with MS dynamics CRM and the integration is not seamless as the integration with Salesforce. We had unresolved issues for 3 years until we decided to move our CRM to Salesforce. - Consulting Services: we started our project with direct Marketo consulting services but our project manager was not responsive and we had the impression that each PM had too many customers to manage and do not have the time to dedicate the right effort to each project. For this reason, we moved our project to an external consultant firm and the results are much better. - Support: the response time of the standard support is not quick and usually it takes some days to resolve it. - Landing pages: it is missing a validation workflow on the thank you pages (to be sure that those who will access the thank you page have successfully filled-out the form included in the landing page) - Reporting: the reports are very basics

### "Powerful marketing automation tool with a wide range of capabilities"

March 11, 2023

4.0

Pros

Definitely the wide range of features. From lead scoring and nurturing to email marketing, to hosting webinars, creating landing pages, and using forms, the platform has everything we need to execute complex campaigns and track our results. Integrations with a wide range of platforms and marketing tools are also a strong point of Marketo.

Cons

I feel that there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to using the platform. It's not the most intuitive system and it can take some time to get the hang of all the different tools and settings. Also, the user interface and some of the functionalities seem to be a bit old or outdated. The reporting section seems a bit complex and difficult to use. Difficult to keep the database healthy due to syncing errors with our CRM.

### "Best-in-class Marketing Automation Solution"

June 6, 2017

5.0

Pros

Marketo is the "Porsche with a manual transmission" of marketing automation platforms. It's full of cool features and is incredibly powerful. The strengths: 1) Workflow flexibility that is unmatched by other platforms. Building complex data management, lead scoring, and organizational processes (such as lead routing) is very achievable in Marketo. They basically give you every function they can possibly code and let their customers piece them together as they like (more on this in #7). 2) The engagement programs, primarily meant for lead nurturing, are truly best-in-class. It's a little bit of an adjustment at first, but it really simplifies complex nurturing tracks and saves marketers from putting prospects into multiple tracks at once (which happens more than most admit) 3) The vision is impressive. Marketo has a clear, long-term vision that they continually deliver on. Examples being advances in personalization, ABM, ect. I'd bet on them to lead the way (or buy the way via Vista ) to whatever is next in marketing automation, such as AI or machine learning.

Cons

I love Marketo. But, there are some things I don't love. 1) The landing page builder has made improvements but still, leaves some to be desired. Unless a template available for import matches what you'd like to do, you pretty much have to hire a developer to build your templates. 2) The reporting is somewhat overhyped. They REALLY sell revenue cycle analytics, but in reality, it's tough to implement and even tougher to accurately maintain. Since data is essentially timestamped and not stored in an external record (i.e. like Salesforce has for a campaign member), if you mess it up, you're SOL. Marketo's advice to me was "don't mess up."

### "Marketo does a decent job with marketing campaigns; lackluster on the integrations and customization"

February 3, 2023

3.0

Moderately positive; for smaller companies on a marketing budget who don't need more than email campaigns, this will work well for you. If you run an enterprise business who needs more, I suggest upgrading to Eloqua

Pros

It was easy to setup and maintain our marketing campaigns; landing pages were customizable for the most part, and the tracking codes were easy to install and events triggered as promised. Cost is substantially less than premium marketing software, so that's a selling point.

Cons

We migrated from Oracle/Eloqua, so we already had campaigns that we used. It was a total chore working with their teams to get everything carried over correctly (we never actually got every object, we had to re-create most). Most of the customization with batch jobs and custom fields didn't work as described in their documentation, and I got the feeling that they don't entertain a lot of big fish in the pond--maybe this has changed?

### "Marketo: An Ultimate Platform for marketing!"

August 19, 2018

4.0

Pros

The reason why I referred the application as an ultimate platform is that it gathers all information about your digital marketing campaigns emails, online forms, marketing material etc. at a single place. It is a user-friendly interface which is easily understandable by you and it has a very brilliant capability of automating almost everything. In this, one can build a variety of things like email templates, landing pages, etc. It supports multi-touch campaigns and multichannel. It is broad and very useful for CRM Integration and most importantly Analytics. It increases efficiency in a variety of ways (like the ability to create a tokenized template) as well as its Lead management process is also brilliant!! Its capabilities are very vast, Comprehensive campaigns capabilities are one of them.

Cons

Here are a few cons which shouldn’t be ignored. Reporting of Analytics of Marketo is very bad and in addiction smart list designs are not flexible and it is very difficult to design them. Most importantly it is not within the range of all types of people, as its rates are little bit higher. Its interface should be improved for new users as well as some software bugs should also be fixed regarding auto-saving. It loads the previewing list very slowly. Its Spam Identification feature also very poor as well as email and landing page analytics are also not enough. But at last, I want to say that the major issue with it, is regarding its speed of loading the application which needs a lot of improvement
