### "Great Organizational tool !"

I love being able to track all purchases and labor against the original proposal. It allows you to learn where you are making money, and where you are losing, so you can adjust from one project to the next. In this way, you can fine tune pricing to be as competitive as possible in the marketplace.

Pros

I like the level of customization available in the software, it allows me to detail my proposals, and make them look the way I want, so they stand out from the competition. Also love the financials feature, and the schedule, so the client always knows what the project balance is, and what is happening next.

Cons

To fully utilize the software, there is a lot of data to be entered and updated regularly on a large project, which can take a fair bit of time.

Working with Buildertrend has been fantastic, taking our company to a whole new level of professionalism and efficiency. Ryan, our BT Coach is always approachable and contactable for any issues or questions we may have. I would highly recommend to any company to implement Buildertrend to take their company to a whole new level.

Pros

The interface is user Friendly and the tutorials easy to follow for all levels of our team. The cloud based system with live updates has allowed for all team members to access live data, Photos and videos no matter were they might be working. Our clients have an interface and capability to be a part of the construction process and see live updates of what is happening on their new home. Buildertrend has allowed us to implement systems and checklist all in one place available to everyone., We are now in the process of scaling our Company to build in outer regions. All easily controllable from the head office.

Cons

\- Some of the windows and drop down categories don't have the flexibility to change what text is fixed by Buildertrend internally. - Not having tax inclusive and exclusive in the owner invoices and the Purchase orders (Australia 10%GST) - Using the selections window we have had to set up a work around to show the client a cost difference between the base item and the item they select. This results in not being able to use the selection as part of the estimate and the item selected has to be carried in from elsewhere.

Buildertrend has really done there best to make our implementation go smoothly. We have ran into some bugs in the system, but they have always corrected the issues eventually. I definitely recommend this software to any small to medium sized construction company looking to tie their different departments together using one integrated system.

Pros

Buildertrend has extensive customization options through the use of custom fields, filters, and views. The system is straight forward to navigate, and never leaves you wondering exactly where you're at in the program.

Cons

The accounting functions are rather simplistic, and lacking some necessary features to make things work well. Also, the print-outs are not very consistent and sometimes lack pertinent project information such as the job name.

It is helping in changing the culture at TCON Homes. It is a bit hard to explain for construction people that planning is more cost effective than starting smashing walls because you are aggregating value doing physical labour.

Pros

Communication of job progress with subcontractors, client portal, upload photos, variatin and owner invoices.

Cons

There is no taxes \*yet. No milestones schedule items, but maybe not needed. Hope one day I can see To-dos on Gantt chart (not as a extra line, but a floating point).

BT changed fees plans. Honestly, it was confusing and too expensive to use for few projects per year. We are a small company with 4-6 projects per year focusing on growth to be able to build up to 8-10 per year.

The greatest solution that BT provides is communication. It is so crucial that details are spelled out to our subs - especially if they are new to our team. It's just as crucial that our clients feel that their selections are clear and the options to provide links, images, upload files/documents - is fantastic. I also love the comment section for quick clarification if they choose to "decline" a selection.

Pros

As a designer, I appreciate the ability to communicate job details to clients, construction team members, vendors, and subcontractors. Making sure that everyone is on the same page and understands the design goal is crucial in meeting the expectations of our clients. As we use more of the features that BuilderTrend provides, the customer service representative has been knowledge and prompt in their responses.

Cons

There is a balance between making sure the software is intuitive as we move through the design/build project and making it easy for a first-time client to utilize. It would just add to the experience if potential and existing clients were able to visualize the products in the actual floor plan giving them a virtual experience. This would help up-sell the client, eliminate misunderstandings about what the materials will actually look like installed, and enhance the overall experience of our clients.

With the implementation of BuilderTrend, we have been able to perform as a company in such an efficient way that I often feel as though I am forgetting something. I think what I mean by that statement is that BuilderTrend has us to organized that my day to day tasks from leads, selections on current jobs, schedules, bids/estimates, and much much more is so streamline, I often feel a void internally like I am missing something. That "thing" that I am missing is stress and confusion. This is and exceptional tool for us.

Pros

The best part about BuilderTrend is that we were able to apply our own processes we have established throughout the 38 years we have been open on a cloud based platform.

Cons

BuilderTrend is a very powerful tool. There is nothing about the software I particularly dislike, but I will say that it takes a lot of time to implement and understand the software. There are several areas that need improving/changing, however, the people at BuilderTrend are so quick to adjust. It is amazing

We chose BuilderTrend because they staff we met with made us feel very comfortable. We are a customer based company and we felt like we were getting the same treatment from BuilderTrend. Their eagerness to want us to succeed was the selling point. Our coaches really pushed us through the software.

### "Easy to use and not just for building homes"

I would recommend this to other companies. My friend is using it perfectly for her real estate sales and marketing company. They're not even building but I'm finding that this platform is flexible and adaptable like that.

Pros

My favourite bit about this software is that I can add as many users as I like and not incur extra charges like we do for other software. At one point we had over 40 users. It's extremely helpful to us to have this feature because as a small business, we want to grow and it's difficult to do that if we can't include all the people we need in a system due to cost.

Cons

We had issues with the cost codes. There were issues that could only be dealt with through the backend. I wish we had the ability to fix things like that ourselves including uploading a csv into the system.

Overall very satisfied we went out to Nebraska for training and met some really great people and the overall aura of the company is spectacular. Customer service has been great with answering questions which I feel is very important.

Pros

I like this software because it has a crm built right into the project management. We are a full design build company for Kitchens and Bathrooms as well as a full service stone countertop department. The software is well received by our full remodel customers and has improved communication tremendously. It also helps with new leads being able to follow up and using templates for emails so there is constant communication. We still have to get the calendar for jobs on board but we are working section by section right now.

Cons

There are still some quirks that need to be ironed out. There is no ability to tag more than one user on the activity calendar. Some of pages you print out should have the customers email and phone number on them. Emailing from the lead side is a bit quirky no be able to respond back on the same email it does because tedious to go back into the lead and have to generate a whole new email. I am confident that the above can be corrected over time.

### "BuilderTrend Review"

Overall, BuilderTrend has worked well for us being a design/build firm. It allows all of our employees to communicate with each other as well as our clients.

Pros

BuilderTrend makes it very easy for us to communicate with our customers and have them be able to see "daily logs" of what is being done on their project. It is also easy for our sub-vendors, clients, and employees to see the schedule/calendar on projects and it's convenient for our homeowners to see who is in and out of their house for that day. From a marketing standpoint, it is easy to track our leads and pull data to analyze.

Cons

I hope in the future their is more ability for BuilderTrend to integrate with other platforms. For example, when somebody fills out an entry form on our website to request a consult, it would be nice if we could integrate BuilderTrend to be able to retrieve that information so we don't have to manually enter it.

Reason for choosing Buildertrend

I came on board the company after we made the change from Red House to BuilderTrend so I am not really sure if there was an alternative product being considered. However, BuilderTrend works well for us and our company is happy with it.

A centralized database for managing projects, clients and schedules.

Pros

The customer service is fantastic. We have a dedicated rep who responds immediately and works with us to resolve any issues. Buildertrend also helps us integrate their online tools with our current project management systems, increasing efficiency and creating a very user-friendly experience.

Cons

While we appreciate the scheduling function and its ability to link subcontractors and users to tasks, some of the tools within the tasks are difficult to navigate, such as the successor/predecessor links between tasks. In addition, adding increased options in the views function would enable the user to see the overall schedule more easily. Lastly, it would be nice to be able to see a high level calendar that shows all active jobs in relation to one another.

Overall, quite a positive experience. Most of my complaints have to do with the software design, as opposed to day to day interaction. We almost never have trouble with the day to day usage.

Pros

The scheduling feature is great, loves that it works and talks to quickbooks. The customer portal is great, and it is nice that our clients can e-pay. Selections function is user friendly. Helpful and friendly customer support.

Cons

I really wish we could copy and change time clock entries! Some of our clients have trouble e-paying, which customer support has not been able to help us with. I also don't like the pay more as you have more projects setup - it kinda punishes the GC the longer they are a loyal customer of yours. I would be nice if we could turn off the feature that bills change orders separately (we lump them in to our payment schedule).

Pros

BuilderTrend is continually updating and improving. The changes are easily understood the formatting is very clear.

Cons

As with everything these days, the costs do increase from time to time. I also wish the scheduling was improved slightly.

### "Great product, highly recommend"

Very versatile program. We use it across all groups for up to date information related to our projects. Our Project Managers use the photos to help tell the client story and to work through issues with the Design staff. Daily Logs are used by our carpenters to keep the entire company in the know about the status of the projects and to show homeowners the progress of that day. Accounting uses Change Orders and Bids to get recent financial data to our Project Managers. Designers use Selections to work with the homeowners and Project Managers so all know what is being installed. Our Sales staff lives in the Leads section to keep the company owner up to date with the current leads and status of contract signings. BT has become our main project information reference for the entire company. We are looking to implement even more features and look forward to what BT has for the future.

Pros

In our organization, we need to share information among many groups and individuals and BT gives us an excellent platform to do so. No more printing plans and selection sheets, just update BT and everyone gets the same info at the same time.

Cons

Navigation can take some getting used to for new users. We have new carpenters and Sales staff that can be a bit overwhelmed at first while learning where things are.

### "A HUGE win for construction companies trying to go to the next level. Especially custom builders."

Pros

As a previous user of a competing software, I have found CoConstruct to be a HUGE win for our company. We are in a process of growth, and with growth comes an increasing need for organization and structure. CoConstruct has helped us master organization and communication for our office staff, field staff, and customers. We can do our estimate in the software, which then translates to a completed Specs/Selections sheet for the customers. In other software we have used, we had to do double entry. Not in CoConstruct. One time and you're done. Potential customers are blown away when we show them what we can do with this software. Most of our customers are out of town during the build, so knowing that their project managers will be uploading Job Logs regularly with photos of the construction progress is a big deal to them. The software support is also pretty incredible. During our transition, we were assigned an "implementation coach" who spoke to us weekly, trained us, and addressed any issues we were having with the conversion. This is truly what made the conversion successful for us.

Cons

It does take some time and effort into making things work how you want them. It is a flexible software with many different solutions, so you need to spend some time and think about how you want it to look and function. The great thing is, they have several templates in there for you to start with if you do not have your own. If you're looking for a software solution to take your company to the next level, make a commitment, spend the time, take advantage of the FREE implementation coaches at CoConstruct, and get it done. Overall experience has proved excellent and a great step up in our record keeping and communications from site. The system has also helped build better team spirit where everyone is accountable and also gets greater recognition for their daily input / roles / responsibilities.

Pros

\- Set price per job per month with unlimited user access - Ease of use for our individual operators to complete Daily diary logs and Daily To Do's (e.g. Plant Check-lists) with photo attachments - Ease of uploading shared documents and photos - From implementation of this system on our first job, the extend of Records and photographic evidence we have gained is invaluable compared to having to rely solely on our site supervisors trying to keep Daily Diaries. All our operatives and site team feed in their information from their own perspective - which is fantastic and has been a vital evidence trail when we have submitted claims fro delays which have been initially discounted by our Main Contractor on site . - The Comments section has also proved to be a great means of communications and keeping everyone in the team in the loop on any matter raised in either the Daily Logs or the H&S, Environmental Inspection Checks etc

Cons

\- Copying To Do's to each of our team manually for every day can be laborious and there must be a means of copying the same command to a range of dates?

Overall, Buildertrend has been a great addition to our company and we look forward to continuing to use it. We hope new features are continually added.

Pros

The daily logs feature is very helpful as a place to easily log events, weather, photos, docs, etc. that may occur at a job site on a particular day. The tagging feature makes this even better when you are trying to look at any days that had inspections on them. The owner invoices and job price summary features are very beneficial to our clients that are looking to quickly figure out how much they have spent and what is remaining.

Cons

The estimating feature leaves a lot to be desired. Compared to what we came from, Buildertrend feels like a step back. The software cannot handle a large number of line items and struggles to keep up. We were told to have fewer line items in order to fix this.

### "Taking the stress out of Managing"

We had 5 programs that we were using to manage the projects. BT was able to reduce us down to 1. Overall its been a great program to use and it has helped us stay on schedule. It helps clients know where they are at and how much they owe. It helps us know if something has been billed/invoiced and helps us manage change orders. Great Program. Phone app is great also.

Pros

It covers all the aspects of managing a job; from when the lead is created, to when the job is done. It gives you the power to customize, to a point, the program to fit your company and allows you to make changes on the fly. We keep up on the schedule daily but the schedule keeps our jobs running smooth. The time-clock is top notch and it communicates with QuickBooks. Overall, its the whole package and it all is two thumbs up.

Cons

The ability to customize certain things, like tabs or change the wording. All other items Builder Trend fixes as we bring them to their attention.

Pros

It is a good application to control how costs are being incurred on site. It also allows you to manage the tasks and deadlines of the items.

Cons

Its platform is somewhat complex, as it encompasses many points within the construction. Therefore it requires training for the people who will use it, which could be considered in implementation costs.

Overall Buildertrend helps us to manage information that we are gathering for the projects that we manage. We use the sales, project management and financial aspects of the app. It is very helpful and has made us more efficient and productive.

Pros

The ability to integrate with multiple software and programs, makes it easily implemented into our current business structure. The purchase orders, change orders, and budgeting tools are very helpful and well designed.

Cons

Glitchy. Site sometimes does not have full functionality when they are working on updates, and customer service response time can be very slow. I dealt with the Purchase Order function not working for 8 days. I reached out to them every day asking them for an ETA of a fix, or an update of what was going on. Took a long time for them to get back to me, and not a quick resolution which negatively impacted my efficiency for that 8 days. This is one example, but we have had a few instances like this.

### "BuilderTrend as a Project Tracking Tool"

Our business problems are simple - track project tasks on a daily basis. I discovered many other features while conversing with my BuilderTrend rep and even provided a new feature suggestion for consideration though I am not sure if it was ever implemented. The mobile app works great for the field staff and I love the ability to manage the different notifications to inform me of a subcontractor's expired Certificate of Insurance coverage (as one example). Overall, I am very impressed with the functionality of BuilderTrend.

Pros

The project management tool in BuilderTrend is very robust with its functionalities, predecessor/successor assignments, and budget tracking. The section for notes and repository of uploaded images are helpful to the project managers in the field. The other important feature is the time entry module where we can track our workers and their billable hours worked.

Cons

The reporting tools are a bit limiting as query tools should be made available for administrators to extract data as it relates to our specific management oversight needs. The other limiting feature is that the financial data can only originate from BuilderTrend. We use QuickBooks heavily for our financial records but BuilderTrend cannot pull this data in.

As a very hands on in the field Contractor I have trouble finding enough time to write bids and estimates. The templates and spreadsheet style estimating really streamlines the process and can ultimately give you your life back.

Pros

Estimating is great. Spreadsheet style makes it very easy to adjust things on the fly whereas some software locks your estimate and makes it difficult to adapt to unforseen changes coconstruct does not have this limitations

Cons

I don't like the pricing model. They give you a cheap rate for two months during which you spend hours on boarding and integrating and then once your locked in they jack up the price.

We are an open book residential remodeling company in Houston, Texas established April, 1992. We expand and remodel homes. Our market is homes valued between $500,000 & $3,000,000. (You can purchase a very nice home with a nice lot for $120,000.00 in Houston.) We also do work on homes damaged and covered by insurance. We maintain a project flow of 20 to 35 projects per month depending on the mix and size of work. Quality work, reasonable price points, and communication are expected. People are the keys to our success. Customers bring us new work and recommend us to their friends. Skilled people performing the multitude of tasks and events required to deliver a finished product on time, schedule, within budget. The questions in our industry revolve around time. Are you using a hammer or a nail gun? A paint brush or an airless sprayer? Pager or cellphone? These are several questions i am always asking myself. How do I keep my customers involved, but not in the way? How do I keep my people informed, timely, productive and motivated? How do I help my sub stay organized and profitable without running their business? How do I stay on top of fluctuating scopes, additions and modifications to the original agreement and still have time to sleep and visit with my family? When we finish up are they going to happy they got rid of us or sad to see us go? In the field we use tools to transform materials into our finished product. Are you using a block planner "because we have always done it that way?" Or power planner "because it works better"? My recommendation is that you take Co-Construct for a spin around the block. It has revolutionized our business, with our customer involvement and sub contractor scheduling. The system reminds all parties of their commitments, the materials required, when the following trade will be there (Drop Dead Date or Time) where they are suppose to be next. Contains blueprints, permit numbers, contract, selections, pictures and more. It is extremely powerful but very intuitive and simple to operate. It will over night change the attitude, tempo and quality of your projects. Your clients will love it. If you want to know how it works, I don't know. But It's kind of like a jack-hammer. I don't need to know how it works, only that when I pull the trigger that concrete patio is no longer a problem. Co-Construct Works. I use it, so I know it works. It is becoming a central topic of conversation, positive conversation from our customers at the close of our projects.

Pros

Very customizable in all areas. Managing subcontractors is very easy.

Cons

Sometimes being so customizable makes it tricky to figure out the best use of the functions.

### "Life changing"

Buildertrend gave me my life back. As the owner it simplified so many areas of the company that we were struggling with. It has also put the office side, production side, designer side, homeowner side and sub side all on the same page. We are doing work more efficiently and more profitably due in a large part to the program. Truly life changing for me personally. My stress level has gone down by a margin I didn't think possible.

Pros

Bringing so many different aspects of the company to one location (billing, plans, selections, change orders, scheduling, bidding). This took the place of several cobbled together apps.

Cons

It was a bit overwhelming at first. Even with phone support, the scope of the program is hard to get started with. Once my office manager and I went to BTU we were able to integrate in our daily operations.

Reason for choosing Buildertrend

Direct referral from a trusted friend that had been working with the program for a while. Was able to get an overall vision of the possibilities. Was surprised by the low cost and availability of help. I have been pleasantly surprised by the program, BTU, etc.
