### "Revolutionized my sales follow up"

June 13, 2019

5.0

I used other CRMs in the past, but love using BuilderTrend. Its simple setup has allowed me to keep track of my customers as well as provide better follow up to my clients. I just utilize the Sales section of BuilderTrend, but it has improved my client relationships and increased my overall sales.

Pros

Buildertrend is great--I love using the Activity Calendar and Lead Report to keep track of my follow up with my customers. I can use activity notes to remember what I discussed with customers when we last spoke, and this helps me engage in better dialogue when I follow up with customers. Our installation team loves using the project management feature to keep track of our installs and provide an easy transition from sales to installation.

Cons

The user interface is kind of clunky, especially on the app. Sometimes it is difficult to find stuff and the filters can get annoying.

Switched from

[Salesforce Sales Cloud](https://www.capterra.com/p/61368/Salesforce/)

I was not in charge of the switch, but we switched because BuilderTrend was a better value product and was better for us for integrating our sales CRM into our project management CRM. I've heard BuilderTrend costs less per month than SalesForce.

### "One of the best construction softwares out there!"

October 14, 2024

4.0

Overall I believe Coconstruct is a well rounded software that can be learned easier than many of the other construction software out there. One of my businesses still uses it to date.

Pros

I loved creating and sending estimates with coconstruct. Once you put in the work to create your templates with your cost items you pretty much have a full system in place where any salesperson can easily use.

Cons

For many years the coconstruct team would occasionally update the software and add features. Until they stopped doing it after they were bought out by Builder Trend. Not sure if that is still the case today.

### "Would be so much better if it could integrate"

March 8, 2026

3.0

Overall does what we need for it, but lack of integrations means we are constantly open to opportunities to consolidate tech stack

Pros

Communication with subcontractors and field installation crews. Also time keeping on multiple job sites

Cons

Lack of integrations with other tools. It is very powerful however not being able to link a job page to an ERP or other CRM is a huge opportunity lost

### "Love the messaging system, but no longer receiving updates"

January 15, 2025

4.0

Our Company has used CoConstruct for a number of years. There are definitely some specific features that we would love to see implemented. But overall, CoConstruct has given us the ability to manage all our projects. Our sales team loves creating estimates using the program, and scheduling is simple and easy to use.

Pros

My favorite feature from CoConstruct is the messages system. Clients can read and respond directly through their personal email, which is a real bonus for older clients who are technology illiterate. It also allows us to keep all of our conversations centralized and documented. And mid conversation, we can toggle between a team-only chat within a client conversation which is such an amazing feature.

Cons

They are no longer updating CoConstruct. While they say that they won't sunset the program in the near future, it still feels like it is on a countdown timer before you are forced to switch to BuilderTrend.

### "Buildertrend keeps our renovation projects on time."

July 3, 2025

5.0

We had more control over timelines and budgets. Less miscommunication, less waiting on everyone else our team just gets more done with fewer of the headaches.

Pros

The scheduling and client communication tools are my go-to. I’m able to manage subs, monitor progress and update homeowners in real time with live changes to the schedule all from the same platform.

Cons

There were a few teething pains early on, particularly importing our old projects. Also, not all subcontractors were fast to transition to the app.

### "Proceed with Caution"

December 4, 2025

2.0

I’ve been a long-time Buildertrend user, and while the software itself is fine and generally works as advertised, I’ve run into a major issue that anyone considering this platform should be aware of: it’s extremely difficult to export your information if you ever decide to leave. I attempted to cancel several months ago, only to learn that there is no simple or bulk way to download years’ worth of files, photos, proposals, and customer information. Because I’ve used Buildertrend for several years, manually exporting everything one item at a time would take an unreasonable amount of time. I reached out to support, expecting a solution, and was told that there is no option for bulk downloading data — something I find very hard to believe for software at this scale. As a result, I’ve been forced to continue paying for a platform I’m no longer actively using simply because I need access to my historical project data. For contractors, builders, or construction businesses considering Buildertrend: be extremely careful. Once your information is inside their system, retrieving it later is a massive challenge. If you’re planning to switch platforms in the future or just want flexibility, keep in mind that your data will not be easily portable. Great software should empower users — not lock them in. Unfortunately, until Buildertrend addresses this major issue, I can’t recommend it without serious caution.

Pros

Fairly decent software and there are a lot of features, but takes a lot of time to learn how to use it

Cons

terrible customer service and technology advances are not top priority. They also make it incredibly difficult to retrieve your information and export it out if you cancel.

### "Ok for small builders"

November 5, 2025

2.0

it was ok, and would be great for a low volume company with cookie cutter house builds. This will not work for huge volumes and customizations

Pros

was excited to use a program that worked and made what we did easier to handle our big load of projects

Cons

Instead of ease of use and making the load lighter we struggled figuring out where everything was, having to rearrange and re enter what we had already put in. We were told it can be used for custom builds when actually it didnt work for that

### "A decent software"

January 25, 2026

4.0

Pros

Buildertrend effectively centralizes project management, scheduling, and communication. The tool helps me keep field teams, office staff, and clients aligned throughout the entire project.

Cons

At first, the range of features can feel overwhelming. Some functionalities overlap and require time to configure in order to fit internal processes.

### "The new Job Costing Budget works great!"

June 16, 2025

5.0

Pros

Its everything together in one software, the new Job Costing Budget tab is very accurate and we can control the entire job budget from there. Also it allows to do changes to the estimate after is done.

Cons

It can be a bit confusing using it for the first time. The tab "Selections" for the homeowner choose options is not very user friendly.

### "Looks decent but functionally very poor"

February 19, 2025

2.0

I have been using it for a couple of weeks and having come from various construction software systems I am finding Buildertrend really poor. It feels like there has been some effort put towards the look and feel but functionally it just feels like everything is a workaround. the financial module is too far behind the functionality of a Quickbooks or Xero so it makes using it for processing really poor. We are looking for alternatives.

Pros

Project management side of it works well. Support team very responsive and AI chat tool useful.

Cons

Its not made for UK! You have to add VAT manually to every proposal/quote and invoice! Connection to Quickbooks is very basic and locked to one user! No concept of Corporate clients with lots of contacts. Each Contact is a client. Bill input is really slow in comparison to Quickbooks. No OCR features which is standard nowadays. CRM tool is very basic Reporting is very poor. Basic stuff like how much have i invoiced this month across all projects? cant do it!

### "Co Construct Review"

December 5, 2024

3.0

Overall, the experience was good for the first many years. Once they were bought, I did not have the same experience.

Pros

When I started with CoConstruct in 2017, the staff was very helpful and would tailor the various modules to our company. Once they were purchased the product support was not as robust.

Cons

I did not get the same service once they were bought out.

### "Buildertrend has all the features a construction business might need"

December 14, 2023

5.0

Buildertrend has been a very helpful solution for our construction business. We use it to manage and monitor the activities of our field personnel, we use it for quoting, mobile app, work orders, and more. It works ver well and is priced relativel lower than some of the competitors. All in all, it's been a treat for our operations.

Pros

I think what separates is from other similar tools is that it's completely customized for construction. It has estimating and quoting, work orders, task management, field service monitoring, you name it. It saves you from having to buy and use a dozen different software for each thing.

Cons

It's kind of confusing an all over the place in the beginning, and there isn't a lot of support documentation online. Pretty easy to use once you get the hand of it though.

### "Great Platform - Bit Pricey"

October 30, 2023

5.0

Overall, we would still be using BuilderTrend if it was more affordable, and if the features that are not compatible with a Canadian company could be accommodated. It would also be helpful to have Canadian billing to keep the cost more affordable for small business.

Pros

The platform itself is very well set up. Once you complete the BuilderTrend role training it is very easy to navigate all aspects of the system from lead status to completion.

Cons

Compared to other platforms that are set up almost the same, we found BuilderTrend to be quite expensive. There are also features that are not compatible with a Candian company as they are American, which also added to the overall cost due to the exchange rate.

Alternatives considered

### "Now that our company has grown, this program meets our needs better"

February 21, 2020

5.0

Last year when we first were shown the program we decided not to go forward. Now our that our company has grown, we see that BuilderTrend will be crucial for keeping ourselves and our crews organized. The rocky portions of the software do not outway the usefulness to our company. There is a learning curve and a lot of things to iron out as we implement it, but I can see it being a huge asset compared to other programs once we nail it down. On top of that, I know their team will keep improving the features and adding more features to a program that is already rich with features.

Pros

The best feature in this program is communication and scheduling. Also, where other programs have to borrow from many 3rd party programs to achieve their functions, this program is able to incorporate all in one. We are using it for every step of the construction process, from sales to estimates, to job management and scheduling and invoicing. Other neat features include requesting bids to subs and vendors within the program, financing for customers, interactive and customize-able selections for customers within the program. There are other features not mentioned in this review as well. The main point is that this program offers all management needs for builders and contractors, and the software team continues to update and add features according to the requests and needs of those who are using the program. Also, where competitors charge extra for each user, this company includes unlimited users in their package, as well as unlimited subs and vendors. Some of the functions you would have to pay extra for in other programs like scheduling for crew etc. are included in their main package. Therefore the price, and what you get for your money is way better.

Cons

This software is a little more difficult to learn than other competing programs, due to it's complexity and depth of features. At times it's a bit overwhelming, though that is to be expected with the level of depth. Also some other programs have a general appearance which makes the program more inviting and user friendly. That being said, we still moved forward with this program because of the need for more features without having to pay all the extra money. One feature they really need to improve is their proposal builder. They have good formatting options and cost codes/ item catalogs where you can build price lists within the system, but when you add items into the estimate or create a big template, when you want to go and edit info like quantities etc. you have to go through an ocean of items that are not clearly formatted (they have a worksheet tab for editing items, and a format tab for grouping and changing layout for final appearance, but the worksheet portion is unformatted, and in the format section you cannot delete items or change them at all. Therefore I found the proposal functions to be a bit rocky to deal with. However, buildertrend users can vote on improvements for the program and so there is at least light at the end of the tunnel.

Alternatives considered

[Procore](https://www.capterra.com/p/56250/Procore/)

Reason for choosing Buildertrend

BuilderTrend seemed to offer everything that Procore offered. There may have been slight differences between the two programs, but procore didn't offer anything revolutionary over buildertrend, and instead seemed to offer similar ways of reaching the same end results. In the end I think buildertrend offered more functions, and used less 3rd parties to do so. However, I have not extensively tested procore, and therefore I do not know all the depths of their software. We found buildertrend first and didn't see any obvious reason why we should switch, so we didn't.

Switched from

[AccuLynx](https://www.capterra.com/p/116187/Acculynx/)

Acculynx is more user friendly in general, but for all the features we need for our growing company we have to pay so much more. Every project manager we hire adds more and more to the cost of having the program, and payment is required for subs to join the program, as well as our crew. All the features we want will keep tacking up the price. If it weren't for this, we may have been able to find a way to keep using Acculynx. BuilderTrend has more to offer at a reasonable price that doesn't keep climbing.

### "CoConstruct makes it clean!"

May 17, 2021

5.0

So amazing, so happy, honestly love working in this system and meeting with \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] every couple of weeks! I will be telling everyone in the industry to use your software!

Pros

I spent a couple of months trying out a multitude of project management software, hoping to find the best for the cheapest. Of course that is never the case ;). CoConstruct was immediately the one that stood out. It had most of the features of the high end systems, and way more than the more 'tech industry' focused packages. In the end, even though it was a big step up in the price I was willing to pay, I am SO glad I chose CoConstruct! They are an amazing company with amazing support and have held my hand through the whole setup process (which takes time for sure, but worth every second as it makes everything SOOO much quicker and cleaner once you have it setup!). I use ClickUp for my personal management, and CoConstruct for my business management. If you are like me and about to embark on the days long search for a project management system, and have somewhat of a budget, stop right here, CoConstruct is it!

Cons

It feels a bit outdated. The UI is pretty damn clean which I like, but could use a facelift. I notice it seems to be all written in .asp? I heaven't seen that in over a decade, might be a lot of why it's running slower :/

Alternatives considered

[monday.com](https://www.capterra.com/p/147657/monday-com/)[ClickUp](https://www.capterra.com/p/158833/ClickUp/)[Asana](https://www.capterra.com/p/184581/Asana-PM/)

Reason for choosing Buildertrend

Tried them all out, no one understands construction like CoConstruct, period! Honestly, the others can give you some pretty great scheduling and note taking, but what about estimates, proposals, budget tracking, warranties, customer support? I know it's about $100-200 more per month, but honestly at $2400/year, that's nothing compared to the headache of book keeping you've got with 3-4 different packages all trying to manage these things with no connection together.. Or if so, another 3rd party integration software with added costs if you go over monthly limits.. As you can tell, I thought it all through, literally wrote out the prices of multiple other packages, and CoConstruct was the only one to use!

Switched from

[ClickUp](https://www.capterra.com/p/158833/ClickUp/)

ClickUp is a great software with an awesome interface. But it doesn't understand construction, and has no where near the feature set that CoConstruct does when it comes to this industry!

### "Stay Away"

December 11, 2020

2.0

Started out well, but got worse and worse as time went on. Could never get straight answers from customer service. Overall do not recommend it, especially to builders just starting out. And forget it if you want to every transfer your data out of it. They make it almost impossible, and will never refund your payments, even if they are at fault. I wish someone would actually resolve my issues I have right now.

Pros

Keeps you organized, but any other management system achieves that. Clients like it. Can customize your branding pretty well.

Cons

For the price, the program is completely gutted. You pay an exorbitant amount per project, and still get less features than other programs like Builder Trend. It’s clunky, poorly laid out, and the customer service is terrible. I’ve had to wait on the phone over an hour on multiple occasions and I know they don’t have that many clients. Can’t chat for tech support. No account managers. Again, save your money. So basic for how expensive it is, especially now that Builder Trend has a $99 option for unlimited projects.

Switched from

[Buildertrend](https://www.capterra.com/p/70092/Buildertrend/)

It was cheaper at the time. Co-construct became much more expensive extremely fast for much less features. Builder Trend has a cheaper option now which is better than co-construct. Go there.

Hey Daniel, Thank you for your feedback. We want to apologize for the experience you've had, it seems like a lot of back and forth. After you wrote a similar review on another platform we reached out to you to better understand your frustrations and the situation at hand, but got no reply. After looking over your account and talking to our Customer Success team it appears as though your data requests and support tickets were answered and satisfied, even though your account was two months overdue for payment with us. It seems like you still had concerns you wanted to address, but in place of giving us the chance to further assist you, you instead wrote another poor review on a different platform. We'd like to make this right and want the opportunity to fix things we may have missed. However, to do so, we do need to know what grievances you still have. Cumbersome dinosaur of a product that doesn't live up to its potential. We now use Ressio software and find it much more easy to adopt, a more honest sales team, and easy to use and integrate into our processes.

Pros

I didn't really like anything about Buildertrend except for their promises for usefulness.

Cons

That they repeatedly told me that the software could do something that it could not in fact do. After I was thousands of dollars into it with subscription fees and set up labor including countless hours on the phone with their support - we discovered that it could not in fact do what the salesperson said it could. I am a third generation home builder in the Kansas City, Missouri market. Our family has been building and developing for over 50 years through both good times and bad. We build homes that range from $250,000 to $5,000,00000. With the recent economic downturn, we had to naturally downsize our company in order to survive. We went from 50 homes per year to 2 per year, but are now starting to see signs of improvement in our market and wanted to implement a new cloud based software system that would improve communications between all players in the building of our custom homes. We wanted something that would handle communications, specifications, scheduling, budgeting, selection sheet management, change orders, file sharing, to-do lists/punch lists, job site logs as well as reporting, and we wanted something that would let us do this with less people. We have found that and much more with the Co-Construct platform. The set up was quick and easy. We were able to customize it to work with the way we do business which made the conversion simple for our staff. We were up and rolling on the first job in less than 1 week and using every function that the system has to offer. I can't name one bad function in the Co-Construct System. Four months into the system, and I can say nothing but positive comments about the Co-Construct software and Co-Construct team. We immediately started with a custom build job. Both my builder team, clients, and sub-contractors have nothing but positive things to say about the system (this goes all the way from the tech savvy to computer resistant partners). Our first clients on the system were in the mid 60's and have built 7 homes previously with other builders. They absolutely love using Co-Construct and seeing my daily communications and updates to the sub-contractors (the one's I want them to see). About two months into using the system, Co-Construct introduced an upgrade which included a budgeting feature which has become a valuable asset. They appear to continually upgrade the system at no additional cost to the user. Our next move will be to apply their custom branding option to personalize the website with our logo. At the writing of this review, they were releasing 20 new upgrades to the system. Can't wait to see what they are! Customer Support for this system is first rate. Most of the time that I have questions, I start a support ticket and have a response and resolution to my problem within 4 business hours. If I need to call, someone answers with professional, courteous and helpful answers to even the simple problems. With Co-construct, you can update, communicate and promote your business from any web connected device, allowing you to work from virtually anywhere. My clients really enjoy the "real-time" updates when we walk the jobs. Likewise, I enjoy my clients comments that they post while on site at the end of the day. It is nice to see the excitement in their posts. Co-Construct has streamlined our business and communications and allowed us to do more, with less personnel in a more professional manner. Our company has seen the following benefits while using Co-Construct: Cost savings through staff reduction. We no longer have a person dedicated to Warranty administration or Selection Management. The system does this for us. Cost savings through reduced communication errors. Cost Savings over using multiple software platforms. Increased margins through better and more timely change order management and collection. Reduced phone calls to sub-contractors for scheduling, punch lists, and orders with a written "paper trail" of dates and times that contacts were made. Simply having every aspect of your job from budget, to plans, communications to selections right in the palm of your hand in an easy to use interface, is invaluable. We are additionally finding that our customers are talking about this system to their friends. We have had potential referral clients ask if they would also be able to use the system. Over the years, we have seen many business tools revolutionize the way we do business - the copy machine, the two way radio, the fax machine, the cell phone, the internet. I am confident to say that we will look back at Co-Construct as another business innovation that has a more than positive effect on our business and bottom line.

### "Handyman evolution"

5.0

I can’t say enough about the customer service - specifically the “how do I do this...” type of support. They really don’t want you to fail just because you don’t understand HOW to use the app.

Pros

Good/bad? Good is not an adequate description of the customer service I receive from CoConstruct. The team over there is amazing. It’s the best customer service I’ve ever had anywhere online. I honestly feel like they work for me in my IT department (I’m a one-man “wanna-be remodeler” handyman operation). Whenever I have a question I get a fully thought out, complete response that answers my question completely - most of the time with a video of rep solving the issue on his screen as if it were my own. I especially like that I seem to be assigned to one team member. Also, the training calls during the learning phase were invaluable. I don’t think I would have been able to learn the full process without them (thanks again rep) - and I would have cancelled shortly after signing up without the video training calls. Thanks so much CoConstruct. I started out as a handyman 2 years ago and found CoConstruct before I was ready for it. The sales guy listened to my situation and freely admitted that it was probably more than I needed and it wouldn’t be a great benefit to me at that point - so I waited with the website bookmarked in my favorites bar. Since then, I’ve expanded into some smaller remodel projects and small custom residential jobs (small, like demo a bathroom, replace Front Door, install a door inside where one didn’t exist). Even with my tiny scope of work CoConstruct has been the deciding factor for 3 of my last 5 clients. I asked them why they chose me over the others and they said specifically, “I like your app”. Paraphrasing them, they said something to the effect of, “it’s transparent and I like that you show me everything you’re committing to instead of a one or two line sentence fragment on an estimate explaining a $3,000 scope of work”. I literally charge more for everything I do because CoConstruct makes me look so good up front that the customers are happy to pay more. Maybe because it makes my business look more professional or competent, or maybe because using CoConstruct actuallly makes me feel more confident. Either way, using CoConstruct, I charge more for the same work and I’m winning clients that I wouldn’t have before. It’s literally paying for itself. Y’all are the best and I can’t wait to grow my business with your help.

Cons

It can take a while to set up a project - specifically a list of generally unrelated items. I estimate a lot of home inspection reports so it’s hard to create a template that I can import for each job. The client view of some stuff is a little less transparent than I’d like (although i can type anything and everything I want into each item description). When I build out that cost lines for each item I’d like to be able to display the description of each cost line to the client (with or without the cost). It’s also tough (or maybe I just haven’t figured it out yet) to go through the list of items to be completed while you’re on site since they’re grouped into larger categories instead of a single list showing all the items. However, you can add whatever you want to the schedule and track progress through the schedule. It’d be great if I could import the specs & selections items into the schedule.
