### "Five Star & Thumbs UP!"

May 26, 2026

5.0

Wow! Where do I start? First being able to clock in effortlessly is a plus. I could easily access my paystubs and W2s. I was also able to do employee learning too!

Pros

Oracle had many functions that were easy to use. I really liked the yubi key and biometric login for security.

Cons

If you didn't enter your credentials correctly, the account would get locked. As an employee,I would have to get my account reset.

### "Big data handling in Oracle"

July 9, 2025

5.0

Our customers use the Oracle database to store millions of production data for liability reasons over a period of 30 years. It is clear that during such time periods, a large amount of information accumulates that cannot be accessed with a simple select. By partitioning and dividing data sets, for example into 'annual tables', the system has enough performance to also enable complex analyses over large time series. This is particularly interesting when one conducts regression analyses in the age of AI, for example, to forecast the quality differences of recent years into the future.

Pros

I have been using the Oracle database since 1994 with different operating systems. During this time, the functionality has continuously increased. Especially the SQL Developer has improved into a powerful tool for database administration and the creation of PL-SQL programs. The possibility of running my own C/C++ programs within the database core is also very important to me.

Cons

The installation of an Oracle database as well as regular updates is still a complex process, especially when one wants to optimize the configuration for the specific application area. The licensing of certain components and add-ons is often not understandable and expensive. Unfortunately, the interface for integrating custom C/C++ programs has been neglected in favor of Java in recent years.

Reason for choosing Oracle Database

At the time of selection, the Oracle database was superior to the Microsoft SQL Server in all respects. However, this advantage has since diminished significantly. Therefore, SQL Server is also used in some minor areas.

The Oracle database was more powerful. The further development of DB2 also stagnated.

### "Oracle Database"

May 1, 2026

3.0

If I received additional training on it, I might eventually like it. However, at the moment I continue to use e-builder instead of Oracle as I find e-builder easier to navigate and the reports are exactly what I need from e-builder.

Pros

The thing I like most about Oracle is that it is an electronic filing system and one place to house various documents.

Cons

I don't find it user friendly for project management. I do like that it has my payslips all there and easy to update personal information.

### "Reliable, but not the easiest ride"

May 22, 2025

4.0

It’s kind of like that tool you don’t really love using, but you trust it. I wouldn’t call it fun, but it’s dependable. Just wish the setup didn’t feel like a puzzle sometimes.

Pros

Once I got used to it, I appreciated how stable it was. I didn’t have to worry about it crashing or losing stuff randomly, which honestly gave me some peace during stressful projects.

Cons

It took me a while to figure things out in the beginning. Some parts felt more complicated than they needed to be, and the help docs weren’t always clear. Bu the support did help me get through most difficulties.

### "The Reality of Oracle Databases"

October 7, 2024

5.0

I have had the opportunity to work in companies of almost all sizes, and most of them have Oracle as their main database management system as a repository for their core business. Without a doubt, having Oracle is a guarantee that the company's data will not only be safe, but also supported by specialized database engineers who will help resolve any incident that may arise. In all topics related to databases, such as, backup and restore, performance tuning, networking, core administration, storage management, security, among others, Oracle offers a truly mature product to meet any business requirement and compliance.

Pros

Only a few databases (such as IBM DB2) have this attribute. Due to this main features of the Oracle database, Oracle engineers have taken advantage of years of evolution and created a truly robust database that supports a large amount of data. I don't think any other database on the market can handle data volume like Oracle does while maintaining a high level of performance. Another thing I like about the Oracle database is that the company has invested in creating not only one of the best databases on the market, but also hardware with a high level of performance and has recently added interesting capabilities of artificial intelligence to the database engine.

Cons

There are two widely known issues about Oracle databases that most people in the database community complain about (and so do I). The first is related to cost, as the cost of Oracle licenses, training and consulting are generally higher when compared to other alternative products. Second, is Oracle’s licensing structure, particularly for those who are in the process of obtaining a new Oracle license. In general, Oracle licensing is complex; A lawyer will most likely be essential during negotiations, as Oracle's license terms are complicated.

### "Powerful and feature-rich"

September 8, 2024

4.0

It is a widely used relational database management system renowned for its robustness, scalability, and comprehensive feature set and it's often the preferred choice for large enterprises and mission-critical applications due to its ability to handle massive datasets and complex workloads; however, it can also be expensive and complex to manage, making it less suitable for smaller organizations or those with limited IT resources.

Pros

Can handle large datasets and heavy workloads; making it ideal for enterprises with growing data needs also is renowned for its stability and reliability, making it suitable for mission-critical applications, prioritizes security with features like encryption, auditing, and role-based access control.

Cons

Licensing is expensive, especially for larger deployments or enterprise editions. While powerful and feature-rich, is often associated with significant additional costs. These costs can be a major factor influencing the decision to adopt or continue using Oracle for organizations of all sizes.

### "Database Allows For Multiple Functions"

October 1, 2025

3.0

The system is workable. The system has allowed us to house many of our HR functions in one area. This platform also allows an employee portal to access and get a first hand look at their profile and edit personal information on their own. Which is helpful and eliminates a lot of the tedious.

Pros

The system is able to be used in multiple formats. My particular organization uses it for employee data, position management, learning, security, and benefits administration.

Cons

The platform that we use does seem to be antiquated. Compared to other platforms Oracle seems to be less user friendly. We have found many hiccups with trying to access reports, retrieving information for salaries, and obtaining accurate information as time progresses.

### "I really think it's the best DBMS I've used, the dream of any database administrator"

May 4, 2018

5.0

Really for me it has been very satisfactory to develop applications with this DBMS, because it has made the work more pleasant and simple, besides having the peace of mind that the database is very secure

Pros

Oracle is the object-relational database engine most used worldwide. It can run on all platforms, from a PC to a supercomputer. It is a super complete DBMS, with a high degree of performance, stability and scalability, supports all the functions expected of a server is a very complete database design language (PL / SQL) that allows implementing "active" designs , with triggers and stored procedures, with a fairly powerful declarative referential integrity. It allows to implement the security of the database efficiently and effectively through the management of users, roles and passwords. It allows the use of partitions to improve efficiency, replication and even certain versions support the administration of distributed databases. The server can be run on a multitude of operating systems. The great support that the organization offers its users. It has tools that allow the database administrator to perform its function efficiently and effectively. It has tools that make the backup of the database very simple. Great capacity to restore the database and very fast recovery, in addition to having a wide type of data which facilitates the design of the database

Cons

What I like least is that it is a bit expensive. Another problem is the need for adjustments. A common mistake is to think that it is enough to install Oracle on a server and directly plug in client applications. A misconfigured Oracle can be desperately slow. Misconfigured Oracle can be desperately slow.

### "Industry Leading Database System"

August 29, 2022

5.0

The Bank for which I am consultant has been using Oracle for ages. If you can rely in such product for supporting trillions of financing transactions everyday, you can be sure that you have selected a great deal. I am very pleased with the performance and all the capabilities that Oracle Database has bring to our platforms.

Pros

With Oracle Database you can be sure you are backed up by one of the best RDBS available on the market. Features like query hints mark the difference with its competitors and can be very important when evaluating the performance of your data source tier. Oracle Database provides flexibility of data representation and all kinds of tools that help you succeed in your platform development. Preserving data is the most important thing in every organization.

Cons

Licensing can be quite costly if you take into account that there are very good Open source solutions available out there.

### "Best Relational Database Platform in market"

January 29, 2019

5.0

I used Oracle database for programming application logics for a technician management applications for a client. I also used Oracle database to support database layer for several of my clients in my career so far.

Pros

I have been using Oracle Database since the version 10g. I have had a chance to work on several other database platforms like Sybase, MS SQL and MySQL. Oracle database comes with tons of features which many of the other databases don't have. I am not sure if i can say that other way round for other databases i have used. It's quite complicated to learn and definitely complicated to master, but it provides you with enough tools to do complicated tasks quite easily. You can also code your application programming languages using it's native PL/SQL language. Oracle Database also let's you make calls to Java programs and embed some Java inside the PL/SQL.

Cons

It's costly! It's quite costly if you are using it for small businesses. Some of the very sophisticated features are only available for enterprise version of Oracle Database which is quite costly. Oracle is very price oriented, so be careful about the budget when you chose Oracle Database.

### "Pioneer of Databases"

October 7, 2021

I am oracle database administrator and i have a great experience with oracle. I highly recommend to use oracle as a career it is also very attractive.

Pros

Oracle is the giant in the database. It is the most powerful database. Almost overall financial industry is using oracle as their database. The most likely feature of oracle is the security. Their security is very tough and encryption is very protective and undecryptable.

Cons

Oracle’s all features are remarkable but the least remarkable is oracle performance tuning feature in enterprise manager.

### "Highly reliable database."

April 1, 2023

5.0

This is where I started learning and using databases, that means this was the base of all. I was used to write queries and try those out with oracle.

Pros

Most importantly, this supports various data types like text, binary data and numbers and oracle can handle large amount of data efficiently. Also we can easily integrate it with multiple programming languages where I used it in multiple projects with different languages. This supports data backup and replicas and it make sure the availability of data in an unexpected condition.

Cons

As a drawback what I see is the resource consumption of the tool. It takes lot memory and CPU power and that makes my old laptop slower.

### "Oracle Database Review from an Senior Oracle DBA"

January 16, 2019

5.0

I have used oracle for Datawarehouse, transactional systems, golden gate replications, among others. It is the core database of the company I currently work for.

Pros

I have been working as a Database Administrator since 2011, Oracle is by far the best relational database I have used. It works better on unix-like systems, it is very fast, has lots of parameters to tune to your specific needs and it also has a lot of features like partinioning, high availability soluctions like RAC and Dataguard that make this the best database on the market for mission critical systems.

Cons

The online documentation needs improvement, sometimes it is incomplete, there are not enough examples for some features. Customer Support is erratic, sometimes it´s great and sometimes not so much, it depends on the support tech.

### "User Friendly and Has Cool Tools"

February 16, 2021

5.0

Good experience overall. I like how easy it is to search for what I need from this database. This database is pretty convenient once you get used to it. Only problems I have are occasional slowness, but that might be a connection or table design thing.

Pros

It's easy to find all triggers, procs, views, and tables on the left side. There are also great tables like all\_tables and all\_source that make it easy to search our entire database for the proc or table I'm looking for. There's a super convenient button that changes the case of all code you highlight in the editor, so you can type in the case that's convenient for you and update everything with the button. I also like that you can pin your query results so they don't go away if you re-run the query or run a different one on the same tab. Each set of query results can be named, so you can run, pin, and rename everything you need, and paste your results somewhere when everything is done running.

Cons

There are more slowness problems in this database than in sql server for large tables. I'm not sure if it's due to table design though. I have to be more careful how I write queries here since some of them can run for hours.

### "Most powerful relational database in market"

January 16, 2019

5.0

I have worked with Oracle database since almost a decade now. I have implemented small, medium to very large implementations of Oracle database in my career. i have been extremely satisfied with sophisticated features that Oracle database provides.

Pros

I have been working on database technologies since more than a decade now. Oracle database is the most powerful relational database in market with tonnes of features. If you buy enterprise edition of the software, you get features like data guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager for free.

Cons

Oracle database can be overly complicated for someone who has worked with other database vendors like Microsoft or SAP. Also, Oracle database is costly in terms of license price compared to other database options.
