It's been great, I've been using it now for 5+ years and it's been great.

Pros

The most pronounced feature this software has is it's ease of use and flexibility.

Cons

Honestly, there really isn't any cons to this software. It has all of the functions you would need to operate and keep track of member profiles. Not to mention they are growing and adding things all the time. If I had to list on thing, it would be that there isn't an online member portal, but I'm told it's on its way.

Overall a great experience! They are constantly updated and adding new things. I would like to see an integrated app to go with their Bluetooth keycard access so members wouldn't have to have 2 different apps for the gym

Pros

Simple and does what we need. 24/7 access, automated billing, and the automated text on denied entry are all great benefits of Gym Assistant! No monthly fees is also great.

Cons

GateKeeper (24/7 access) sometimes has issues with connectivity and can run a bit slow. No ability to revoke an add-on access at a certain date so if someone just wants to add tanning for 2 months we have to manually remember and remove access so they aren't billed for it

Pros

The customer service is great. Easy to use, really like the tabs to navigate around the application.

Cons

It closes out a lot. Freezes up, sometimes we have to restart application in the middle of entering a member.

Good. The employees are helpful. I wish there was an assigned person to me so I didn’t have to teach em about my gym every time we chat to problem solve.

Pros

Now that I know the system, I do like it. I wish I had received better training on it. I don’t think I’m using it to its fullest.

Cons

I’d like it to offer me debt collections option. I want it to collect the past due memberships. I’d like a you tube channel to train me on using it to its fullest. I’d like someone one the EAST coast to be available to call. I can’t always wait on California time. I’d like a conference or convention to learn more tips n techniques about GA and the advantages of using it over other programs.

It’s been great. We have used for almost 20 years, we would have changed at some point if we were not satisfied.

Pros

Ease of use. They continue to make the product better. Making changes as the fitness industry evolves.

Cons

We really don’t have anything we don’t like, however we would like to see Gym assistant be able to integrate with our Stripe billing.

Overall, my experience has been fantastic. We’ve have very few issues and any anytime there was it was very quickly handled.

Pros

The software works great and the support team is excellent. I’ve been using the software for 12 years and the consistent upgrades have been fantastic.

Cons

Automated text messages for membership renewals, and reminders would be great. I currently use outside third-party software for texting and emailing but having something integrated similar to EZ text and mail chimp be wonderful or being able to integrate the software

Very satisfied with Gym Assistant. We have been using the software at all four locations for more than 10 years now.

Pros

Gym assistant continues to add more helpful elements of the software for our business. It’s nice to have all the elements all connected to each other (door watcher, gate keeper etc.)

Cons

I don’t have any complaints about Gym Assistant. It would be nice to have them continue the smart key options & offer them at a better rate. The rate per smart key is similar to buying physical keys right now.

Great people that are always available. I struggle setting up how I wanted everything to work but the ability to call I. and talk to knowledgeable help got be going in no time.

Great customer support. Good product that works seamlessly. The ability to use good assist with door keeper and Proshop is great

Little hard to setup without help. Navigating through some of the menus is difficult but with help it went ok.

We have been so happy with the Gym Assistant that we have never shopped around for another software product for our fitness center.

Pros

Technical support is great! Adding new customers is quick! We are a small fitness center with less than 250 active members. We can compete with other fitness centers because GA allows for 24/7 accessibility.

Cons

If it could be accessed remotely from my phone, I haven't found that feature yet. That is mainly because we are open 24 hours a day and sometimes members have not paid their monthly dues and can't get in until the next working day.

It’s been really great, honestly. My husband passed away and I’ve been running his gym since that time, May 27, 2023. I helped him once in a while behind the counter but I’ve learned a lot more about it over the last 18 months and I’ve really found it to be helpful. I know the rest of his team feels the same way. Thank you.

Pros

I like how we get so much information on each person, the number of visits the last time they checked in, how long they’ve been a member, we have the option of entering how much they paid the last time because we have a lot of discounts and it really helps us know what discount the person had. We can also see if they are a three month member or a month member or a six month member or a yearly member. It’s just been very helpful.

Cons

Well, I need to learn more about how to create reports. I love being able to see how many people came in during a day or a week or the past month or the past year, but I’d love to be able to print those out and have more understanding about how to use that feature. I also would love to know how to determine how many current clients we have. I can’t figure that out yet.

Gym Assistant takes your feedback and makes the program better.

Pros

You can run so many different types of reports in gym assistant, it makes it easy to pull the data you need. It's also easy to change information or update member information in their profiles.

Cons

Issuing refunds is near impossible in the system, it doesn't track accurately. We need more options for adding other items that have variable costs other than needing to have each cost listed, such as our catering equipment that we rent out, and the backcountry cabin that we manage.

Overall the Gym Assistant system works great and customer service is very responsive. I should learn more about the new features. I am sure that I do not take advantage of all it has to offer.

Pros

The card swipe system manages the people who can get into the facility. It works great! Since purchasing Gym Assistant, I do not need to come back to the gym to lock up. As an add benefit, I know who has "checked in". If there were lights left on or a "mess" on the floor, I can get ahold of the members that were in the gym during that time. Our members also appreciate knowing that people who come into the gym are recorded members.

Cons

I have had the system for many years, but setting up the door swipe system was not easy. I needed to be an electrician in to help with the wiring.

Reason for choosing Gym Assistant

I do not remember all the products that I originally looked into. I am sure the reason I chose Gym Assistant was a combination of customer satisfaction and price. We are a small gym and could not afford an expensive tracking system.

We bought our first gym in 2016 and chose Gym Assistant because of it's value and simplicity. We have since added a second location with over 1,000 members along with a retail shop. Gym Assistant has been robust enough to grow with us. They continue to expand the product and the support has been outstanding.

Pros

I love the value that you get. From starting your first location with 100 members to expanding to multiple locations with 1,000+ members, Gym Assistant is robust enough to handle it. Easy to train new employees to add new members, ability for multiple membership packages, flexibility with monthly or daily billings. Point of sale add on for snack bars or retail merchandise is a great interface.

Cons

Could use a class scheduling module. Also, ability to have dual entry for the controllers, a fob and a 4 digit code for the keypad.

This is a great CRM package at an affordable cost, full of really relevant features. We have been used the software since around 2008 and the regular updates and new features show the the Gym Assistant team really focus on their Customers and their changing needs.

Would love to be able to customise for a European market terms such as delinquent , terminated etc to more appropriate words used in Ireland.

Overall it's great! Most daily tasks are easy to handle. It's integration with credit card processors is great. I don't use their door controller system or their check in system but it would make things even simpler. Customer support is excellent, even if you have to leave a message sometimes. Gym Assiant developers adapted quickly when covid hit. They updated their software to include features for our new gym worlds. By the time my gym was able to reopen they already had new features in place.

Pros

No subscription model. Once you purchase the software, you own it.

Cons

There's a learning curve for more advanced features. Renewing a contract after an extended leave, or adding family members in the middle of a billing period, etc usually required a call to \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] to clear it up. After 5 years of using it, I still fumble around occasionally. I will say that it does allow for nearly unlimited customization and is very powerful, but sometimes you have to get creative with it.

Overall this has been a great experience. The ease of use was most astounding and the few times that I needed assistance it was fast and helpful. I can look to see my financials with a couple keystrokes. I can monitor usage without being there. I love this software!

Pros

It was so user friendly especially for a minimalist technology user. It tracks members, payments, dates and times of use. It gives me flexibility for different types of memberships and punch cards. I would recommend this product ( and have) to anyone starting out in the gym business. I was new to the business when I started and this was a business saver for sure. It tracks financials daily, monthly and yearly that help at tax time. Gym Assistant has allowed me to operate my 24/7 gym without much overhead. I can track usage without being present. Thank you Gym Assistant!

Cons

The only difficulty I had was on set up with my door mechanism. I hadn't understood that I needed to purchase that from a different source.

I can't remember the other products but I feel like the overview sold 1/2 of it and dumb luck the other 1/2.

Pros

Gym Assistant does not charge monthly fees, it is easy to navigate, has a small learning curve, and has awesome customer support.

Cons

If they had an admin website/portal and/or admin app developed - absentee facility owners or managers who are away longer than normal time periods could manage membership changes and/or FOB issues. Using a software program that mirrors the desktop has not always worked well for us.
