It does exactly what it promises, with fast support and an easy setup. Pros Fathom is simple in its use and doesn't hide a lot of its features behind a paywall. They provide more than the other AI notetakers and it was lot easier to set up than the others as well. Whenever I've had a question, their support responds in hours, sometimes minutes, not in days. Couldn't ask for much more than that. Cons One thing I wish Fathom did was give the ability to upload audio files to be transcribed. Sometimes getting on a call isn't feasible so having the ability to upload a conversation would save a lot of time in the future. From all the meeting notetaker softwares that keep popping up, this is by far the one with the most robust free plan. Pros The free plan is super-robust!!! As a small business owner, this is my top priority. Plus, their support for all their customers, even the free plan, is incredible. Cons There are some bugs in terms of sharing recordings and granting access. For myself, it's not something I usually care about, but if you're working with a team, be aware that it takes a learning curve. Founder Professional Training & Coaching Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Lost Two Years of Client Data Due to Fathom's Poor Customer Service" December 18, 2024 1.0 I would strongly advise anyone, particularly startups and solopreneurs, to avoid using Fathom at the risk of losing your intellectual property. I used Fathom for two years and was happy with the services. When I first signed up for an account I used an email address related to a business development organization that I belonged to. Fast forward two years, and I decide to leave the business development network and attempt to change the email associated with my Fathom account. Fathom makes it incredibly difficult to do this. You can't just go into your account settings and change your email, but you need to send a form requesting their assistance. Finding this form was itself a challenge, and only possible after I sent a Help request to them. I made the change request several weeks prior to when the account transfer was needed and I got zero response. I followed up twice including a specific drop dead date by which I needed the change made or I was going to lose access. Still nothing. Three weeks later and after a third attempt to resolve the problem they get back to me. Only at this point do they inform me that their policy prohibits them from making the account transfer without proof of ownership of the old account; however that ship had sailed and I was no longer in a position to do so. Had they responded when I initially made the account transfer request, this would not have been a problem. When I explained the situation and pointed out that their slow response prohibited me from complying with their policy, they basically told me that I would have to accept losing TWO YEARS of client data. All because their own customer service was unable to respond to my account change request. This has caused significant damage to my company, as I no longer have access to transcripts and files for several long-term client relationships. Fathom is taking zero accountability. I feel like they have illegally expropriated my business secrets, but regardless I'm left stuck with no resolution in sight. There are plenty of competitors out there where this would not be a concern. Don't take a chance at losing all of your data due to Fathom's incompetence. Most of the time, the summary, priorities and tasks are extremely well chosen. I watch my speaking time so I can talk less. Pros Fathom summarizes, prioritizes and makes sense of videoconference meetings. You can even see your speaking time live, which reminds you to let others do the talking. Summaries are precise and well contextualized, starting with a highly relevant objective and summary of the meeting if you don't want to read the whole thing. It's synchronized with hubspot, automatically saving meeting notes and creating tasks. Cons Areas for improvement: the tasks are in English, even though I'm a French speaker, and the summaries are in French. The “your questions” section isn't very relevant, with sentences that don't always correspond to what was said, and question assignments that aren't always correct. Pros I love the great notes it creates at the end I was using a different note taking app but Fathom is so much better. I love the real time monologue and percentage of talk time that pops up while you are in the meeting. Cons So far it's really been great. I wanted to actually record an in person meeting the other day and couldn't figure out how to do it so I opened zoom so I could have the notes afterwards. You might be able to open it for in person meetings but I haven't figure out how yet. I've reached out to them on multiple occasions, and have always received a helpful and timely response. Pros The Fathom notetaker is genuinely awesome. You can use it in any video meeting (Google, Zoom, Teams, etc.), and it's better than the built-in Google Gemini notetaker (as of the time of writing). The ai summary notes are ACCURATE. Like-- impressively accurate. Like-- more accurate than if you had a human taking notes with you. And because it records the meetings, you can click on a sentence from the ai notes and it will replay that section of the call for extra context! To me, the coolest thing is that it creates "action steps" following a meeting. In addition to insightful meeting summaries that break down each chunk of your conversation/call/talk, it automatically creates a to-do list for you (great for sharing with your counterpart, because you KNOW they aren't taking good notes). Cons Sometimes you can't NOT add Fathom to your meetings. That is, sometimes I don't open the Fathom app, or specifically request that it not join a meeting (because I want to save my monthly free credits for other meetings), but it seems to join anyway. If I had a paid plan or infinite credits then I wouldn't have a problem with having it in every meeting; but I'd like to be able to confidently say "don't join this meeting" to save credits for my high-impact meetings. Annoyance I don't know how to solve: I'm an iMac user and make use of the multiple desktops feature, and opening Fathom may switch me to a different "desktop." I never really know where Fathom is going to launch; and though I CAN move the Fathom instance/window around my computer as needed, it'd be nicer if it always just opened in the screen I'M actually in. March 19, 2025 5.0 Before during a Zoom meeting, I would have to have a pen and paper with me and ask the person to "hold on...what was that again?" "Sorry I can't write that fast, please repeat" etc. With Fathom, I just talk and they talk and it's all organized and written out for me when we finish. I also used to have a hard time deciphering what the next steps were from my scribbles taken during the meeting. Fathom determines the action items for me! AND for the attendees! Pros Fathom is super user friendly and the integrations with the video conferencing software is flawless. The control over how the reports are structured are very customizable. The look, functionality and results are second to none in my opinion. I also appreciate that I can program it to auto join so I dont need to remember to also add my notetaker. The calendar reminders really help me not miss a meeting. Plus you can launch the whole thing from your Fathom without needing to also open the video conferencing software. So easy! Cons I really haven't run into any issues! I guess my only request would be an ability to re-name the meeting before or during it vs after the recording is complete. Like if I could just click on the mini desktop control widget and change "Impromptu Zoom Meeting" to the actual title or topic that would be great! Fathom consistently delivers on a seamless experience for sharing and collaborating on meetings, making it easy to share transcriptions and AI summaries across various scenarios and in different formats, and has a helpful support team to keep us aligned. Pros Fathom is a fantastic tool to increase productivty and maximize your valuable time! There are a TON of AI based tools launching to market meant to summarize video and audio content so, I was looking for something in the product to stand out and really show me value worth the additional price (especially since Zoom and some other video conferencing tools already offer features out of the box to summarize and report on meetings). What sets Fathom apart is convenience, collaboration, integration and usefulness. Specifically, the way Fathom auto-joins meetings and initiates recordings is seamless and somewhat minimizes the stigma associated with asking the host to record the meeting. By auto-joining, I can privately capture any content and choose to share it at a later point. For sessions I want to share, there is a pool of content across various internal peers that I can now more easily access as opposed to needing to manually share individual recordings. Recordings alone are useful, but the AI generated summaries definitely exceed the quality of out-of-box solutions and do offer good value. The AI summaries also add tasks which can be tracked and generally, most importantly, the summaries are surprisingly accurate with only minor tweaks being required. Cons There are only some minor controls that I would like to see in the future come from the Fathom team. So far, more granular control and seperation of the summarization from video would be valuable. Essentially, having the ability to generate a summary without a recording or choose which functions I want to take from a call, although, these are minor asks. Finally, more granular control of organizing content would be a helpful addition. In the solution, adding content to folders defaults to sharing across your internal teams, but having the ability to create folders with per user access would make it much easier to disperse content individually. Overall, despite these asks, for a product relatively new to the market, I would say it is doing quite well and is simple and intuitive for new users. Review Source LY Levi Y. Before using it, I’d finish a Zoom call and either scramble to take notes during the meeting or try to remember key details afterward—neither of which worked all that well. Now, with Fathom automatically generating transcripts and summaries, I can stay fully present in meetings and know that everything’s being captured accurately. One of the biggest problems Fathom solves for me is keeping track of important conversations. I love that I can search through transcripts, find exactly what was said, and even jump straight to that moment in the Zoom recording. It saves me from having to dig through messy notes or rewatch entire meetings just to find one answer. It’s also a huge help when I need to follow up with someone or recap a meeting later on. Fathom does all of that for me, and gives me easy ways to find information in calls, all while helping me track my customer data in Hubspot. Pros Before Fathom, we were struggling to take notes while on a call, then log those notes in a way that we could share with our customers, while still keeping things organized in Hubspot, which is our source of truth for client accounts. Follow-up emails that weren't just a form letter added more time spent digging back through those notes, and then you still have to log the meeting as completed! Fathom completely changed the game for me, and took me less than 10 minutes to get set up. It takes very detailed notes, including pulling out action items (which it makes into Hubspot tasks for me automatically!), and you can generate a personalized follow-up email in seconds. It also logs these notes into Hubspot, marks the meeting as completed, and sends a copy of the notes to the other people on the call automatically. Not to mention that it alerts me during the call if it thinks I've monologued! Less time spent on manually tracking all of this is more time I can spend helping our customers. Cons It's a little more cumbersome to cut a specific snippet of a video out for sharing than other programs I've used, but you can still share from a certain section, and everything else it does helps make up for this in my opinion. Pros I loved the platform, intuitive meetings and database for storing words and documents, which are usually at hand and easy to access. Cons The fact that it is a small application that transfers meetings across other application platforms, bringing them all together in one.
