We appreciate the safety/security of a large name, trusted brand, without the high cost that can often come along with that name. The cost for their equipment is reasonable. They are so frequently used that finding support is very easy as everyone I know uses them. Pros Square has been a powerful platform for our nonprofit. We are able to process payments with a premium feel product, without the ongoing costs that many other POS systems have. The pay-as-we go type structure is flexible for our nonprofit. We do not bill frequently enough to justify a monthly fee, and so this option has been incredible. It was super easy to make our own, customizing the products, prices, receipts, and options at the click of a button. It integrates powerfully with other tools that use. This makes sales online, over the phone, through invoice, or on-site at events a breeze, and the platform is easy enough that anyone on my team can use it with their user/team options. Cons We have faced some challenges when out on the site with connectivity of card readers, particularly those that connect via Bluetooth to an iPad. Once connected they are quick and easy to use, however the initial connection during a period can be tough. We are an infrequent use organization, since we accept payments with this platform during events, it could be months without using and I think this contributes to the difficulty versus it connecting to the device every day. I do find the iPad layout to be a bit more clunky, feeling like an enlarged iPhone layout versus its own dedicated design. The low cost and user-friendly nature of the site is ideal when starting out. Pros The website builder was easy to navigate and the analytical were also very helpful. The square online analytics were about to pin point the time, location and funnel my website traffic was coming from Cons The website was very limited in its build. It was difficult to embed widgets and other code that was is produced by a third party such as a booking page, google analytics code etc. Example: Square does not allow certain pages to have sub drop down pages. Even though I'm an admin on our account, for two years Square has not been able to verify me when I contact them for support. Even our store \[sensitive content hidden\] can't get help when he calls. Pros The design is intriguing. The website is driven directly from the POS data so there are no separate "product records". This makes inventory sync automatic but the backbone of the site is subject to the quality of the POS data. Cons Too many things to list fully. There is no reporting or management capability of images except one-at-a-time. For large image repositories, this is death. There is no built in under-construction concept so you have to build a fake page and then disable navigation to work on a dev site. To preview it, you have to turn on nav and preview while editing a live site. Large data sets are hopeless with their tools. Support is terrible. You get passed from department to department and often they can't verify your profile to help you. There is no way to build a content page that isn't a product record. Overall the development tools are not ready for prime time. Square sells you on using variations... beware. They have tons of limitations. The first time we used it, it went seamlessly. Have to say it continues to be seamless still. Pros As selling on-line was new to us, the ease of set-up was very welcome. Information on the website was extremely helpful in assisting to make an informed decision to use this service. Cons Nothing comes to mind currently as we have only used it for a very short time. (couple months). Since we are new to this e-commerce process, I am thinking there may come a time when it will get tedious or frustrating. Love having my library easily integrated Cons Could be a little more customizable for businesses. Some features are on square online but not other parts of square - they are good features but I would like to be able to adjust them in other places too (like the order of how modifiers show up on the register). Also - this one is huge - there really needs to be a better way to make sure orders are seen/accepted by employees! We ended up adding a motion sensor to the top so that it makes a sound loud enough when an order comes in. " October 20, 2024 5.0 Pros What I like most about Square online is it is beyond user friendly for me and my customers. It is a widely accepted software and my customers were able to pay simply by clicking on a link or invoice. Square also has donation links. This came in handy when I was raising money. Once I am paid, Square offers the option to be paid instantly or later that day via their card and checking account feature. It's made my business more stream lined and professional and helped me stay organized and on top of customer management and invoicing. Pros I have been using Square online to run my small business for eight months now and it has been extremely helpful. I use it to input all of my customers information and quickly and easily build out invoices for them, send invoices, accept payments and send customers receipts. I run a service-based business where I have to travel to and from my clients, Square has allowed me to set up and use their item catalogue so that I can bill all of my services on the fly and send to my customers even while I'm out of the office on my mobile device. It allows my customers to make payments to me easily, so I don't even have to have a part in the payment processing and takes out one more step for me as I am travelling to the next client. Cons I wish that it had a little bit more customization and design for my invoices and would allow me to personalize the messages it sends to my customers. I'd like to have more of my social media highlighted on the invoices and ways for my customers to connect with me more. I also which that Square was a little more tailored to service based businesses, as the items list always shows as an inventory item and asks about shipping, which is not something I need for my business and I wish I could tailor the experience to my service based business better. Pros I enjoy using Square because it is so easy and user-friendly. Offering discounts with multiple purchased items without using a coupon is not available. Having automatic shipping discounts without using a coupon is not available. Would like automatic discounts and be able to offer free shipping when minimum orders are met. Have to be careful about generating a shipping label because you only get one chance. If a shipment requires two or more labels, can only generate through square online via shippo. Then have to go to shippo to generate additional labels. That is a hassle. Pros The ability to add multiple photos and contiually edit photos is probably what I like best. Description of product tells only some about the product. Buyers want to see it. I can easily edit the photos and rearrange them for renewed interest. Cons My products need a numbering system that a buyer can easily see and add when asking me questions about the product. Many customers want to use Pay Pal. Reason for choosing Square Online I wasted so much time trying to learn Work Press. For 3 years it caused my headaches. I spent most of my time trying to navigate the site. Square is such a relief. Now I have time to spend with the process of selling my products and not with figuring out a difficult site. The best features in my opinion are: the free stock photos, low cost domains, and checkout links. Cons Now that I've been using Square for a year now, I realize I would love the option to have my customers control their account and see past orders. I get asked that question a lot. When I decide to start my meditation business again in the future, I will definitely choose square. Pros I used the card reader in person and it was very useful. I didn't have the need for buying any other items. My remote clients would pay by entering their card as well, which was very simple. I have been a customer of many businesses that have used square and have always been happy when seeing it in other places. Cons Their website features weren't very easy to set up. It really wasn't a big issue because of so many sites that let you create your own websites for free. It is easy to navigate, easy for a web master to add or subtract books, and so easy for our readers to purchase a book or even many books at one time. The site feels very safe to both us and to our purchasers. I also particularly like how quickly payments come in and are clear. I gave up other sites when I began to employ Square. I can't begin to say how very happy I have been with Square in infinite ways! Pros In the world of publishing, there are countless ways to access or sell books and magazines. Square makes it easy to place a book up for sale on our site, with full description. Too, the purchasers are able to access the book for purchase even if they are not very familiar with computers or purchase sites. Cons It might be a tad easier to work with a template that allows for some changes editorially. For example, there is not a Free Shipping button. Reason for choosing Square Online See above.
