As a company new to ESG, we were able to get started very quickly. The platform strikes a great balance between being powerful enough to centralize our data and simple enough for the entire team to adopt. The built-in guidance was significant in helping us understand the data requirements easily. KEY ESG has been an effective tool for launching our program. A major highlight was working with their team, who were very easy to work with and highly responsive, which was a key factor in our successful implementation. Pros What I liked most about KEY ESG was its combination of simplicity and depth. Our company was new to ESG and was finding it challenging to grasp the vast amount of ESG data scattered across our organization. KEY ESG's platform made it straightforward to centralize everything in one place. The dashboard is intuitive to use; it allowed an incredibly simple transition from our spreadsheets and data collection into one simple dashboard that anyone on the team can use. As the company begins its new ESG program, we found the Guidance sections on data collection to be very valuable as we introduce new teammates to the ESG program. It took a lot of the explaining out of the work in the program and makes it simple to understand why we need to collect certain information to get our emissions, or what value the information adds to the overall data collection. The user management and data collection is refreshingly easy to use as both a team administrator and as a front-end user. Additionally, a major pro for me was the team itself. The level of customer support they were willing to provide was exceptional and made the entire implementation process much smoother. Cons While our overall experience with KEY ESG has been very positive, there were a couple of areas we felt could be improved. As a company new to ESG, we found that while the features were very intuitive, some of the more advanced reporting pieces had a larger learning curve. It took our team a bit more time to fully understand and leverage these aspects. We also found the workflow for signing off on data to generate a report was slightly confusing at first. This may have just been user error on our part as we were still learning the system. Although we've only been a client for about a year, their support truly has changed our ESG program. 2024 was the first year we collected data from our portfolio companies, all of whom are US-domiciled companies, with varying perspectives on ESG and sustainability in the current market. What was initially a very daunting task became much more manageable thanks to the KEY ESG platform, which makes data collection intuitive and simple for our companies and the support team who helped us along the way. The data output is also very clean which allows us to just export and provide to investors (which we greatly appreciate). Lastly, the team has been very supportive of our efforts-- they always going above and beyond with customer service. I demoed a lot of ESG data collection platforms before we settled on KEY ESG, and time and time again I am reminded that we made the right choice. Pros The KEY ESG platform is industry leading, and their support team is what puts them over the edge. Pros KEY ESG’s software has increased the accuracy and speed at which ESG data is gathered. With a robust reporting system in place, Pollen Street has been able to set data-driven targets for next year. These insights, along with KEY ESG’s specialist guidance, have allowed Pollen Street’s portfolio companies to spend less time reporting and more time effecting positive change. Cons This was still a relatively new product when we onboarded, and as such there was some functionality that still needed to be developed (eg bulk upload), and some glitches. Pros I find it to be an Intuitive platform, relatively easy to use for the data collection, including the carbon emission management for the GP as the portfolio companies. The chat function is very helpful for our port cos, including the build in explanations. Overall quite good client support. Cons Set up of bespoke questions / questionnaire needs some fine tuning. The order of the way client's see the questions should be a bit more flexible. It’s not just a reporting tool—it’s become a core part of how we manage sustainability data across the business. The platform enabled us to complete our first double materiality assessment efficiently and position ourselves for future CSRD reporting. It helped us bring together different teams internally, improve data accuracy, and enhance transparency with our stakeholders. KEY ESG is definitely a valuable partner on our sustainability journey. Pros The centralised data collection platform was a game-changer for us. It eliminated manual data gathering processes, improved the accuracy of our sustainability data, and saved us a tremendous amount of time. Being able to import historical emissions data and analyse it all in one place also helped us make more strategic, data-driven decisions. It strengthened our internal sustainability workflow and made us more responsive to stakeholders, especially customers. Cons Overall, our experience has been very positive. If anything, the platform’s flexibility means you need a bit of upfront coordination to set it up correctly across different departments. But once that’s in place, the system runs very smoothly.
