Pros

This EMR isn't terrible given that it's free and web-based. Functionality is somewhat lacking and information sharing with other systems doesn't exist. It will get the job done if you absolutely have to use an EMR but if you're looking to streamline your patient information storage and sharing with other necessary entities, I'd consider a better program.

Cons

You can't share with other systems. Importing information from other systems isn't a thing and has to be done manually by scanning.

After my experience, I would not recommend this EMR.

Relatively easy to use I liked the ability to free text notes All pros were counteracted by overwhelming con of not prioritizing patient privacy

Cons

\*\*not responsive to privacy concerns that arose using this chart. After multiple calls and emails, they simply said the problem could not be fixed. EMR needs to be able to protect patients' privacy. I haven't decided which chart to switch to yet, but this was obviously a deal breaker for me. Lack of ability to write letters in the chart and lack of form letters in the chart Not responsive to feature requests

Pros

In a previous job we used this software daily for all medical record needs. Honestly, it is a robust, great software for EHR.

Cons

We didn't seem to have any problems with this software. I can't think of anything that needs to be different.

### "It was great free software but no longer"

I stopped using this software after several months because it seemed too cumbersome for my practice. I never could get it linked to order labs and studies, despite many attempts. Although I think they will have less advertisements, they are also changing their model so it is no longer free.

Pros

Great all-around physician software including e-prescribing. Has a lot of options for templates, and the ability to edit templates from a library shared by other providers. It can feel a little cumbersome at times though because it tries to include everything. I appreciated that it was free initially.

Cons

There were advertisement cluttering the screen. It seemed cumbersome. It could be remarkably adapted to one's specific practice, but it took too much time and I went with other software that was more straightforward.

### "Lousy customer service"

Our training rep was gone for many weeks during our time limited training period. While he was gone, we had no one to speak with. When REP returned, if we ever heard back from him, it was several days after the fact. He would say that he was too busy because of all the calls that had accumulated. No kidding, that’s generally what happens when you take so much time off. The last straw with him was when we had him trying to solve an issue for us that lasted several weeks. He finally just gave up and said that it wasn’t his problem. Then I find out that the prescription format is illegal in my state. “Dispense as written” must be on the bottom left and in PF it is reversed. I’ve filed multiple tickets on this simple issue, and get no valid response. It’s now been 6 weeks, and my emails now just go unanswered.

Pros

Fairly intuitive. Other than that, the negatives outweigh the positives.

Cons

They have absolutely horrible customer service.

Pros

It has good search functions and is pretty smart in matching the terms I use to find a diagnosis with the terms that are in the codes. The Meaningful Use reports are great and easy to run. ePrescribing and labs were very easy to set up. I love the fact that it is free! The help forum and tutorial videos have been a huge help. The templates give more flexibility that some in being able to mix and match different components of a visit. For example, for an endometrial biopsy, the procedure is going to be the same regardless of the indication. With PF, I can have one template with four options for the subjective, all tied to the same procedure portion. Also, the security is good, according to my IT Person.

Cons

The classifications of staff, nurse, NP, and MD are somewhat restrictive. I had to give everyone MD level access so that my MA can lock telephone encounters; otherwise, I would have to sign every single phone encounter and insurance document. It would be nice if labs could be transmitted electronically and if the templates could have diagnoses associated with them. It would also be nice to have some flowsheets.

### "ok for what you pay for"

Its free, ability to eprescribe, lab and radiology integration

recently some colleagues and I have experienced some problems with e-prescribing. In a state like NY where e-prescribing is a must, when you cannot e-prescribe it becomes a big problem. When we called practice fusion, we were told it would take about 24 hours to fix, which is a long time when you have patients coming in right now. 1 week later we still had the same problem. The next issue is it freezes a lot, even when used with google chrome. My next issue is the notes, they are not easily written. When entering a vaccine, I have to enter it in 3 places: 1) my note, 2)billing sheet, 3)vaccine documentation page. I don't see why I can't document it 1 place and have it automatically populate elsewhere. NPs in NY don't require physician to sign all notes, giving a provider NP privilege prevents them from locking a note and required physician to sign. Also, there is no way to unlock a note when it is locked. Next issue, once you are verifies, if anything changes...such as your name or title, its not an easy change...everything pretty much has to be re-set and you are not able to Rx again for about a week, so if you get married, either keep your last name or be prepared to not be able to Rx controlled substances for about 2 weeks.

We have had PF since 2014. I have had 2 other EHR softwares that were awful in terms of ease of use. PF is very user friendly. If there is a con to the software it would probably be in the ability to have more options for template design. I highly recommend Practice Fusion.

Does not track quality measures relevant to palliative care. Support staff did not seem interested in adding measures that would be beneficial to our program. It is also very siloed meaning, that our various practices within the same healthcare system can not see or share patient information. We all have to reenter the patient medications, history from scratch if the patient moves from one practice to another within our system.

Does not track the quality measures I need. Support staff did not seem willing to add any more quality measures. My emails have never been answered. Can not track metrics for the palliative care program that I need.

It’s a good experience to use this software. I will pass the word around to any patient I see at the doctor’s office and explain to patients how easy it is to pre register online. Overall, I think this product is suitable for anyone to try out.

Pros

I like this software because it is easy to schedule my appointments online. Also I heard that this software is not too expensive but a lot of patients are going online through Practice Fusion. It sure does conquer over saving a lot of written paperwork when you pre register for appointments.

Cons

I never found anything least about this software. Every time I use Practice Fusion it never had given me a problem.

Pros

It's free and the software is relatively customizable.

Cons

Ok it's free, so that's the best part. It's at best an adequate program, but their customer service is non-existent unless you want to wait for useless email. I was just in queue for live chat and when I logged on it said there were 10 people in front of me. Mow it says 15 and I didn't log out! For many months, they have been doing this, warning about logging in differently and this doesn't work for me. My charts don't show up. I have gone through their elaborate, useless contact customer service labyrinth many times and this has never been fixed. There is no way to call their customer service. Frankly, I have a mental health practice, so I use very little of the program so its not as huge an issue than if you are a large practice or using this more extensively. I'd avoid this until they get better at customer service availability and response. It's pretty ridiculous. Also, their promised changes are slow in coming or non-existent. Frankly, now that all my charts are loaded on there, I feel somewhat trapped or I'd look further.

Pros

I love that it is easy to use, easy to adapt to, staff and students can quickly pick it up, and that it is free of charge! I like the ability to customize templates and dot phrases.

Cons

There are some limitations with it for a gynecology practice that involves a lot of imaging and lab reports. There is not a fast way to access imaging results from within the SOAP note, and this becomes an issue for our particular practice, but for a practice that was not so built upon imaging, it would not be as much of an inconvenience. Labs can be viewed by scrolling up in the SOAP note, if the interface for each lab works appropriately.

I really like the ease of use for this EHR. I would recommend the product and really see an advantage to use in the practice. Great for small businesses, startups or established practices.

Pros

I really like the product for our SPA in our practice. It helps me compartmentalize, chart, and keep all of our patients up to date. It is a great product that I can put templates and saved macros to make it much quicker and easier to use.

Cons

Customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. In most cases they do not pick up the phone and try you solve the problems by email. I had issues to prescribe medications for over 2 weeks and they still were not polite to help me solve the issues, creating a lot of problems to my practice. Customer service representative was Cherish. Blaming the client and not helping with such an important matter as patient care/prescriptions is not the way a company should behave. This type of issues must be solved IMMEDIATELY since may compromise patient care

Pros

I personally do not have many good things to say about practice fusion. I guess we can submit unsolicited results for our clients but half the time they do not receive them.

Cons

The fact our clients cannot receive results or have trouble filing results to the patients charts. Our clients complain about results coming in half completed.

Pros

Free electronic medical record that is generally user-friendly. BEST for primary care medical practices, but worked well for me at the time I was starting my private counseling practice. EXCELLENT resource for free clinics too. I especially liked the opportunity to develop my own language that I could pre-load then click to enter frequently used expressions in my SOAP notes.

Cons

No choice for using SOAP note format for progress notes. No way to run reports for the kinds of information I wanted. Nothing about it was behavioral health friendly but it worked well enough in the early years of my counseling practice.

Was able to achieve meaningless use for 2 years.

Pros

It is free. Its pretty straight forward to use. The ads which apparently offset the cost to keep it free are not particularly annoying or intrusive.

Cons

Security is too complex. We stopped using the software and had to switch to another EHR when they made the security so complex, we couldn't even log into the software ourselves. After being locked out for several days we had to change.

EMR is so much better than EPIC could ever hope to be. It is simple and easy to use. Pertinent information is at your fingertips; you don't have to hunt for medications or PMH. Notes can be short and precise; there is no extraneous trash.
