I have been using the product for 5 years now and absolutely love how it makes my everyday life so easy. No longer do I have to log in to the website back end to make tag changes, etc.

Pros

The tool makes it extremely easy for marketing professionals and developers to deploy tags and events on the website. The feature I love about it is the ease of set up.

Cons

Tracking events and triggers can get a bit technical and without knowledge, it can become difficult to implement.

Learning curve notwithstanding, Tag Manager provided a server-based option for deploying code that could be called from research participant browsers to track their activity as part of a research study.Being a Google product, it integrated with Google Sheets seamlessly to store user activity data.

Pros

First of all, it was free. More importantly, it helped us to meet an urgent business need that supported two separate research studies.

Cons

There is a fairly steep learning curve that comes with a product like this.

Reason for choosing Google Tag Manager 360

We did not do an exhaustive comparison. We explored various web-based solutions that might meet our particular need; namely, being able to call server-based code from a client browser from an event handler. Once we found something that worked, we stopped looking. There are likely other options for what we were trying to do.

Within our organization, we use Google Tag Manager 360. We love its fast report generation speed. This allow us to track user activity quickly when they are on our website or using the app. For performance marketing, Google tag manager 360 is used to generate user segmentation based on particular region and to optimize user level behavior.

Cons

The user flow can only be visualized to a limited extent. Retroactive revision are not available. Analytics for IOS devices is limited.

It is a wonderful product for the price. There is almost no downside and the wealth of information you can gather is well worth the effort for setup.

Pros

The best features of this is the ease of reporting and customization. The cost is not bad for all the information that you get from it. The reports are very easy to work with and great if you need to compile them to show figures to.

Cons

Setup can take a bit too long and can be tedious.

Pros

I use Google Tag Manager or GTM as we all lovingly call it every single day at work. Campaign tracking and management as well as website tracking and capturing behavioural user data is a breeze with GTM. Custom events and debugging are quite refined as well. There is a lot to love - although, on a daily basis one only thinks about what 'doesn't' work - reflecting on what I love about GTM - my tracking and reporting would be impossible without robust GTM implementation.

Cons

GTM can be temperamental sometimes - I have had situations where a simple regex just wouldn't match. Being a free product from Google, there is no dedicated support like we have for Google Ads. This means that if you do get stuck, you have to either rely on painfully slow email support back and forth, or digital marketing communities. I would like the support for GTM to become more robust from Google. Further, there is no clarity or clar documentation on server-side implementation of GTM. GTM relies on cookies, of course, and is classed as third party data collector. This won't be a thing very soon. Clearer guidelines on how Google sees GTM performing in a first-party cookie-less world wold be ideal.

1\. It is an excellent platform for being organised by managing all the tags in one place 2. The UX is great 3. You can add JS tags to your website without having coding knowledge 4. It is easy to manage all your triggers 5. Makes you spend less time 6. Integration is simply amazing 7. Great place for adding custom trackings to a website or single page 8. Great for testing and debugging the tags with support from tag manager assistant

Cons

1\. Does require a lot of training and support for beginners - but once you learn it, things become easy 2. Setting GTM up is a bit challenging 3. The integration with third part softwares does impact the website speed

Google Tag Manager is a critical element in our company's ability to track the success of various marketing and ad campaigns and attribute certain user actions correctly. By using tags we are able to set up campaign parameters for tracking within Google Analytics and set up goals in Google Analytics for things like purchases or lead forms. Collecting that data and attributing each action to the correct campaign is critical in allowing our marketing team to make important business decisions and allocate our budget and resources efficiently.

Cons

There is a steep learning curve and more complicated tags do require assistance from a Javascript developer. Additionally, customer support is lacking from Google.

Certaines modifications d'interface ou de fonctionnalité sont apportées assez régulièrement (ce qui est certes une bonne chose) mais cela demande une gymnastique pour s'y retrouver parfois.

It took me a good while to get a grasp of how it works and best practices but once I got through that learning curve its been nothing short of fantastic.

Pros

We use google analytics and although that can be fine for basic tracking like page views on certain applications, google tag manager is the only real option for SPA and detailed insights. Great for tracking things like where a user is clicking and what pages they are viewing in most basic terms, and once you are fully ramped up with how it works, the world is your oyster when it comes to analytics and understanding the users behaviour.

Cons

It's not going to take you 5 minutes to understand what to do and how to implement it. There is a lot to learn and sometimes your website setup can end up requiring developer help to get the best out of tag manager. On the flip side to this, the amount of tutorials and guides on youtube and what not allow for you to be able to learn pretty much anything you want.

Experience was fine. Had some troubleshooting problems but overall the product is a great tool to use and help with tracking.

Pros

That I am able to implement my conversion and tracking codes with a little more ease.

Cons

It was hard to get used to. I had to watch numerous how to videos to figure it out. Google has helpful articles but it's not the same as seeing someone do it first hand or being walked through it. I did run into some problems with my tag not firing correctly that was frustrating.

Reason for choosing Google Tag Manager 360

I didn't look at other products as this one worked best for my marketing efforts.
