While Discord is aimed at gamers, it offers features that benefit businesses too. A great feature is user permission management in servers. Roles can be added to users that restrict their access to certain channels and performing certain actions. Voice channels are a great alternative to video calls as anyone can turn on their camera or share their screen to the call. Cons The 8MB file upload limit can mean that some images and most videos are too big to send into a channel. Discord Nitro doesn't yet offer enough features to be worth the price. Desde que passamos a utilizá-lo em nossas comunidades, o Discord cresceu em espaço e ganhou inúmeros outros visitantes. As opções de personalização são ótimas, e toda a interface cumpre perfeitamente o que é proposto. É possível personalizar canais e dividi-los por assunto e tópico, assim como realizar ótimas chamadas de vídeo ou voice com boa conexão. Cargos de administração podem ser distribuídos para que os grupos se tornem mais organizados e dentro das normas estabelecidas. It also gives the opotunity to me to host studying groups with a few colleagues weekly. Pros The best thing about Discord is that it is messager app and also similar to a social community. It allows me to have group messages, group discussions, "#" to click and find topics. Voice/video calls are great. Cons A shame is that group video/calls is not up to 50 participants/members even if you pay the Premium version. Also, I don't like the idea of it being so hard to use (in the beginning I had to watch online videos to fully understand) which took me a few days to understand the way this software works. Cons One thing that's a bit of a bother is the fact that you can't minimize the channel/messages bar on the left side, which can be distracting when using the streaming feature. The only way to hide it is using the full-screen feature. This can be a place that bridges communication between varying levels of authority, and open the door to beneficial candor. Pros As having been both a moderator and Server owner, I have spent countless hours organizing this social space--creating channels and adjusting settings--so that fellow members can seamlessly interact with each other over a variety of topics pertinent at the time. For example, they can enter a general discussion Channel, or enter a Channel made specifical to answering questions. This makes Discord highly unique, and extremely versatile. Cons To this day, I still do not completely understand the benefit of paying for specific 'Pro' level features of the platform. Pros The best thing about discord is that it has a lot of server/forums related to productivity, stock market, games, etc. A large number of users can join these forums. Another good thing about this app is that video chat and audio chat can be done easily and smoothly even if there are a large number of persons in that chat. The audio and video quality never gets compromised. Also, notifications or alerts can be either turned off or customized according to the user. Cons The thing I liked least about this software is that the User Interface is not user friendly and it is not easy to use for someone who is new to Discord. Pros The instant chat is really what won me over because instead of sending emails which will take long minutes to arrive, it will arrive all at once then the file sharing is just incredible if you are ready to pay the nitro subscription. Cons I think the communication between roles and permissions could be better pointed out, we didn't know at first when implementing the software and whenever we discovered it, it was another world in front of our eyes. But it would not be the best software for file sharing, because of it's size per file limit when uploading. Pros It has been more than 8 years now that I am using Discord. I first started using it for gaming, it was much better than any in-game voice communication, the conversations are clear and separated from any sound inside the game, which was all we needed at the moment. Creating channels and organizing them is a very strong aspect in Discord, and now it has become a reference for all companies working online where you can create discussion channels for your clients, and for group members.It has great sound quality and makes meetings, calls and screen sharing very easy. Cons On the other hand, if you are using Discord for internal communication inside the company you will face a main problem in files sharing. You only have a limited size for each file you send, which makes it impossible to send very high quality images or videos, and personally working in the 3D universe, file sizes are usually very big and it was hard to share work with the colleagues. Cons if you dont pay for discord Nitro, the voice chat with someone streaming can be a bit scuffed(pixelated, laggy). The price for discord Nitro is a bit higher than i like but imo it is worth it.
