Pros

The great detail involved and the crazy amount of reports. More importantly is the ability to use sql with the software to create reports or run queries.

Cons

The tremendous delay in customer support matters. Sometimes things marked as urgent can take weeks to resolve.

### "Robust & Intuitive"

August 18, 2022

5.0

While it is tough to gauge, our efficiency & productivity has increased for better time management and more effective processes.

Pros

The software can handle just about anything! It has drastically changed our efficiency company-wide, especially with the projection/forecasting for our project teams. Having our teams getting live data and immediate access helps them more effectively manage their projects.

Cons

Some of the features within the EM & IN seem to be less of a priority for functionality and user-friendliness.

### "Viewpoint Vista - Tracking Jobs has never been easier"

August 17, 2022

5.0

As a new user a 3+ years ago to Vista, I was able to easily jump in to get an understanding of the system overall. Today I am still learning new ways to improve our processes as each module can have so many options for tracking jobs.

Pros

The software has sooooo many options for tracking jobs. All components of a job (AP, payroll, billing, etc) are able to be tracked in Vista. The reporting is easy to track and understand. The options for customization are endless. We are able to create custom reports on the fly to accommodate our needs specific to job type or PM.

Cons

There are so many options and features that it can be confusing or hard to learn all the steps. There are so many features that have to filled out when entering data into the system in order to get accurate data out of the system that a new user can feel overwhelmed. For example setting up rates for job cost can easily be entered incorrectly if you do not enter every possible combination.

### "Absolute worst software"

February 22, 2025

1.0

This is my 9th overall software suite to use for HVAC service. I thought Fieldpoint was the bottom performer, but this has beat FP to the bottom of the stack. The functionality is slow, clumsy, and non-logical.

Pros

It is easy to shut down. That is absolutely the only good thing about it.

Cons

To date, I have found nothing I like. I am quite experienced with software of this type, and it is by far the worst I have been involved with.

### "DO NOT PURCHASE - Look elsewhere $$$$$"

May 9, 2024

3.0

Miserable. A product with good intentions but hamstrung by inept support staff and slimy sales process.

Pros

It's got a ton of configurability if you have a full dev team ready to sit down and dig in with the subject matter expert for each department.

Cons

Their support staff is a 2/10 on most days and there are frequent questions they just don't know the answer to and if you get to that point they just shrug and close your issue. We were railroaded into getting a half baked cloud solution that took us back to the dark ages in performance and it cost 5x what we were paying for on prem. Trimble is the parent company and we have other software for different things from them. This one is the worst. If you have a massive dev team, 5000 spare labor hours and a mountain of cash, then you could benefit from this after the on-boarding process of 30-1600 days. You will be into time and materials billings at the last 90% of your engagement.

### "Using Vista"

August 17, 2022

4.0

I am pretty satisfied with Vista.

Pros

The Project Management/Accounting Integration.

Cons

The amount of training it really takes to be successful. Also, if you are not a report writer or large enough company to have one on staff, it can be costly to hire that out.

### "Great for Task Lists, Hard to Navigate"

September 13, 2022

3.0

I like it better than Sage 100 contractor, but it still seems based in the 90's. it could be much easier to navigate. the people that have been using it for 3 years or more seem to still have some issues with navigating the system.

Pros

I like that you can set up your own task list for the items you use the most.

Cons

its difficult to find reports, unless you know the name of it, or where it is located. it would be nice to be able to run a targeted search.

Switched from

### "Great for larger sized firms"

March 3, 2025

4.0

Overall, its not a bad program. For a larger operation with an IT dept and someone familiar with coding and macros, I think that it would be a very valuable, but for us, it wasnt the thw solution we needed.

Pros

The program is actually very useful in terms of data and information services. Reporting is in depth and there is a wide variety of customization.

Cons

We found it 1) cost prohibitive for the size of our business 2) creation of custom documents such as contracts, RFPs and invoices was clunky and cumbersome and required alot of assistance from customer service 3) purchasing all the separate modules seemed cost prohibitive for the size of our company.

Pros

### "Viewpoint Vista - A good product but some work to do"

August 17, 2022

4.0

Good integration for a multi-faceted business. Cloud based product with good security and single sign on.

Pros

Viewpoint One web-based project management and financial controls, solid payroll, general ledger and accounts payable package.

Cons

Analytics Reporting on Viewpoint One is very clunky, BI is very limited. Dispatch board from the Service Management module needs more flexibility to prioritize calls and tag/flag calls on the board. Projection tools within Project Management module don't provide real time functionality and are not easy to use.

### "Small Business Heavy Contractor"

August 19, 2022

5.0

We have used Viewpoint Vista since it became Viewpoint Vista. It has served us well. I have noticed through the years, that our software has been in the forefront in evolving to meet the needs of the changing landscape of construction. This also includes the changing landscape of regulations and paperwork needed to operate a construction business.

Pros

The product is multifaceted with so many options to use for your construction business. As you grow, it grows with you.

Cons

Because of the many varied options, sometimes it is hard to navigate all of those options to optimize the use of this software.

### "Vista by Viewpoint - Project Management"

August 10, 2017

4.0

I think a great deal of the Cons could be eliminated if the training was better, but the way I understand the roll out training was so expensive and fast that it wasn't that helpful. Plus it happened on the onset before they had any experience with the software. There are video trainings that are good, but some are outdated.

Pros

After you learn the nuances of the software its a good product. It tracks compliance well, subcontract and change order entry is easy. Good reports to obtain information.

Cons

Due to inadequate initial training the previous AP lady thought she could bill an amount on items that were designated as EA (having unit cost and Unit Quantity. As a result, we have had major issues. The support staff said if Viewpoint would fix that issue their support cases would drop exponentially. If they cannot fix it, at least they should not allow the user to be able to perform the function. Although good data on the reports, some are clumsy. At times it is difficult to find exactly what you want to display on a report. Support is great, but when the problem overlaps from one category to another, you can get faulty information. For example...if you have an AP problem, it could be causing a problem in SL but the AP support team won't know to tell you that. We had a major issue that was created as a result of this because it crossed years.

### "Longtime Viewpoint Vista Users"

August 18, 2022

4.0

Pros

Software is really easy to use. There are a get number of reports out of the box. Reports are really easy to create and manipulate to get you the information that you want.

Cons

Software error popups are really vague and do not describe what is wrong which can make hunting down the issue very difficult at times.

### "While difficult to setup, it is an integrated system handling our Service Management, project management, Document management and Accounting and has eliminated duplicate entry we used to have to do with our old system."

August 15, 2017

4.0

If I could go back in time and look at the software purchase again, I would still go with Viewpoint. While the process takes an enormous investment in time, it has been worth the work.

Pros

It is integrated and allows us to share information more easily across the entire team. We can attach documents to transactions allowing us to have info at out fingertips allowing us to answer questions from clients without having to go and pull paper files to research the answer. It is very versatile, allowing us to create custom fields that are not over written when updates come out. this allows us to customize the software to allow us to do business "our" way.

Cons

The Versatility that makes this product so good is also a con in that it makes it more difficult to setup. If you come from a simple solution to Viewpoint, you don't know what you don't know and you may make some short sighted decisions on how to setup or implement the product. Our implementation team from Viewpoint did a great job of trying to point out some of those potential pitfalls.

### "Worst implementation experience ever... A lot of turn over in there team that "helps" you too. Company has too many Growing Pains that affect the customer."

January 29, 2018

1.0

Pros

This software is pretty user friendly and it is pretty efficient for the line of work we do. We are a manufacture of Concrete products and its hard to find a software that can handle our line of work like that.

Cons

The implementation was absolutly one of the worst experiances ever. It took us over a year and a half just to get started with the system. We went through project mangers after project managers because the company was restructuring. Which was hard on use because we pay a lot of money for them to come out and try to help us implement this. We would have explain everything over and over when someone would be replaced. It got really old. Not to mention you have to watch when you get customized things done. They do not do these in house and they are never on a deadline for you. We constantly work around their schedules and not ours. I personally would have looked harder into something else before going this route. It just seems as though this company because they are owned by investors is having too many trickle down effects ultimately on the customers. Not good business.

### "Vista is useful"

August 17, 2022

4.0

Pros

Integration went well with the help of trainers. It takes several years of using Vista to really get use to it. We are about to move to the cloud version, so there will once again be another learning curve to battle through.

Cons

We've found that the standard Crystal Reports are not very good, and writing custom reports using Crystal Reports is not user-friendly.

### "Consider other options until this product matures"

July 22, 2015

2.5

Pros

I like the fact that Project Management and Accounting are tied together ins the same product. This allows for real time financials without duplicate entry of data.

Cons

Change Orders in the Project Management module are difficult and frustrate users. This problem alone has lead us to start exploring other options for our PMs. While Viewpoint has a plan to modify this, it is unknown if we can wait until the solution is finally rolled out before needing to implement another option. Also, a simple dumbed down module for Field staff is not available to meet our needs, We bought the product with the intent to implement the Connects product from Viewpoint, but this product has gone away. We tried to implement it initially, but it was far too cumbersome. Viewpoint needs to be more aggressive in its rollout of a web based Project Management module for the PMs and Field staff that aligns with the needs of Project Management of a General Contractor. That would include a more robust option to manage drawings during the course of the job (4 Projects is not it today and not sure if it will be it in the future when it is integrated with Viewpoint.

### "A big upgrade from our previous system."

July 14, 2017

4.0

Overall, we are pleased with our product and the initial training and setup. Most of our problems have been resolved on our own researching compared to having to file support cases. Viewpoint has allowed us to provide better reports to our managers.

Pros

\-Intercompany features allow for easy reconciliation and few entries. -Drilldown reports allow easy access to individual transactions -Knowledge Base and Clearview online help are incredible with step by step instructions including screenshots -Shortcut keys allow for easy lookups and use of a wildcard (\*) without knowing the exact description -Well organized layout of the modules/programs vs. reports -Able to maintain one vendor master among all companies has helped significantly in our accounts payable department

Cons

\-There is a large amount of reports but it's hard to determine which one to use and which parameters to use -Invested time in their financial reporter which is now being phased out and will not be supported in another year -Security setup can be time consuming (separate program for Reports, Forms, Data, etc.)

### "Weak on the HR Side"

October 5, 2017

4.0

Overall, it isn't a bad system, especially for payroll, tracking of costs and equipment. It just isn't tops on the HR side.

Pros

Entry of data is easy (Microsoft Access style of entry). Canned reporting features are okay with several exporting options.

Cons

The HR side isn't the most spectacular piece of software. There's no easy way to create your own custom reports. Some access issues exist; such as if you have access to HR but not payroll and there are reports HR needs that are tied to payroll, you're out of luck. One such report is the EEO-1 Report which HR typically handles but it's tied to payroll reporting.

### "Vista, Field Time Console Product Review"

April 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

The best thing about Vista is the "one-stop-shop" vision they have been striving for. Everything Accounting (AP, AR, Cash Management, GL, Job Billing, Payroll), Document Management (RFIs, Submittals, Purchase Orders, Subcontracts, etc.), Project Management (PM, Job Cost, Service Management, etc.) including a host of other options including Equipment Management, Inventory management, a Business Analytics & reporting feature. It is also highly customizable.

Cons

The only downside I would say is that some of the training for customization is considered billable or is outsourced to a third-party developer / partner

### "Antiquated and Bulky"

August 29, 2023

3.0

I haven't used vista for anything beyond time keeping and basic invoicing, but I feel like it needs an overhaul, but in terms of UI, but also functionality.

Pros

It has many features and groups them all together in one place

Cons

Filling out forms and records is an arduous task, the software balks at the user when fields are not filled out in the precise manner that it expects. Often after filling out an entire record, it is deleted because one field is incorrect or missing.
