### "Essential Piece of the Puzzle in Streaming Media Monitoring"

Touchstream is at heart a very simple idea that is a massively useful piece of the puzzle when it comes to troubleshooting. When it comes to monitoring tools the focus is usually in broad strokes: you can get aggregate numbers on rebuffering, VPFs, HTTP responses etc. What Touchstream offers you granular flexibility that also paints an overall picture of your stream health. Having a historical record of geo-diverse individual client responses helps me drill down on individual sessions and solve problems quickly that aren't always visible with aggregate tools.

Pros

There are other similar products, but Touchstream really gets that A. you need an easy to digest and parse way to see how your streams are performing over time and B. broadcasters etc need to be able to set up, shut down, and swap out streams on a daily basis and Touchstream makes it very easy to do all that.

Cons

The tools take a bit of a learning curve to understand at first, but the documentation is very good and their customer support team is very patient and willing to help walk you through challenges to help you get the most out of your experience.

Great experience overall. Haven't been in contact with support a whole lot, but that's a good thing right. We get what we are looking for, a way for our operations/monitoring team to get a good overview of the health of our streams. Thanks!

Pros

We use Touchstream to measure the health of our streams, from different locations where our users are streaming from. I know there's a lot more to Touchstream than just this, but this fits perfect into our Operations department who are monitoring the streams. This gives them a great overview and a fast way to detect if streams are not functioning as expected.

Cons

We have been playing with alerts in the past, to not have to solely have to watch the dashboards, but not with an optimal result. I'm not sure if this has been changed recently, but when we tried to implement alerts to slack for example, we didn't get the results we were looking for.

Pros

The Live Overview section with the Status History is very helpful for our industry and tracking how our virtual channels are performing on certain CDN's. It's easy to track and detect, and having the alerts emailed to us helps us diagnose any possible issues as well.

Cons

Honestly, software is great overall. I guess when you go to look into the Status History and see what the issue is, that can be slightly confusing with all the different codes listed out. Otherwise, most of the features and displays on this software are easy to read and understand.

I my experience Touchstream actively seek to improve their products responding to feedback, and provide very quick support.

Pros

Touchstream is easy to use, and easy to maintain.

Cons

Hard to fault, but I'd like to see Touchstream offer the ability to run basic scripts upon the data gathered, in a developer mode. There are occasions when it would be useful to utilise what Touchstream does well (data capture) for bespoke investigations.

Pros

Touchstream enables us to leverage a more proactive approach to supporting critical & complex customer streaming workflows - tying in encoders, origins,CDNs and endpoints for a fuller situational awareness experience.

Cons

Touchstream takes a more no-frills approach to presenting data. This can be helpful if you're used to simpler interfaces. The ability to modularize and customize views would be a welcome addition.

I think that this one of the most used and useful tools that our team uses to monitor out DTC applications.

Pros

I like the visual alert system that lets us view on a color scale as well as notice the timeframe that the alert occurred.

Cons

I think that it can be frustrating that we have no control over the arranging of the different VCs. I wish we could have the ability to customize the order so we can prioritize alerts based on relevant issues.

Pros

The easy UI and all the functions. Very friendly dashboard to have on the wall for our NOC.

Cons

I have no really anyobjections here. Maybe there could be another alternative dashboard view without logging on needed.

Touchstream est devenu un maillon central dans notre supervision globale. Les exploitations sont diverses et plusieurs départements peuvent y trouver des informations intéressantes. La surveillance globale, ses alertes et les historiques d'incidents restent son atout phare.

Pros

Nous apprécions de pouvoir suivre notre contenu depuis nos origines jusqu'au CDN. La diversité géographique des PoP nous a été d'une grande utilité également. La visionneuse détaillée des appels en console est une fonctionnalité très appréciée pour le diagnostic. Nous utilisons également l'API, notamment pour réintégrer les status/alertes dans d'autres outils de monitoring.

Cons

Le logiciel est agréable dans son ensemble, mais l'interface d'administration quant à elle est plus austère et pas forcément intuitive. La documentation qui l'accompagne est certes complètes, mais la prise en main n'est pas forcément aisée et les changements parfois rébarbatifs.

Ease of use/simplicity , effectiveness of capturing video stream related issues, API support for control and data output

Cons

Integration was pretty easy; the only thing (at the implementation level) that was a little cumbersome was the concept of "stream title" and the various options of naming streams/variants
