Pros The language detection feature works well, the translations are good, you can easily translate full documents, provides an API. Cons Amazon Translate can be too complex at the beginning and quite confusing, once you learn the basic features, you are good to go. Pros I really like all of the functionality in the "app" itself. It is a very fast and fluent service and can detect what language you are typing in. (Results may vary.) I found it really useful when going on trips and having to speak with people who only spoke other languages. Cons I don't feel like I should have to put in a credit card and pay for a service that I am going to use about 1-10 times a year. It really put me off to begin with.
