Really, the Pros and Cons section above details my experience. I was very pleased with this software and continue to use it as my primary vacation rental platform, along with Expedia and Hotels.com, which are all connected. They've all always fixed whatever was wrong and it never has been connected to the software at all.

Pros

I was very happy as a user of this. It connected me with great hosts, had great communication features, scheduling worked well everytime. I never had a bad experience with it.

Cons

I didn't have any issues with Vrbo at all. I used it for about a year or two on and off, with a lot of time spent in them. Never had an issue.

Overall, aside from the challenging aspect of having to compare multiple units by opening multiple tabs, VRBO is extremely useful for booking travel accommodations. I think they would highly benefit from a comparison tool in their website.

Pros

I like that VRBO has a similar interface to many other travel sites, likely because they are owned by the same parent company. I have never had issues in communicating with VRBO support. I prefer this company over Airbnb due to better business practices and experiences overall.

Cons

The prices displayed for each listing include fees, but never taxes. It's always a necessity to click on the listing itself to see the final price. This is also an issue with many other travel accommodation websites that I wish did not exist.

### "Reality check with hopeful expectations!"

Regarding my reservation at Property 3702532 (Unit ID 4276677), booked Jan 7–Mar 4, 2026 for 2 adults: Upon arrival, the unit did not match the Vrbo listing and was not in acceptable condition. There was an odor of mold/grease, the floor was slippery, furniture was stained and ripped, kitchen cabinets had grease/lint buildup, and the A/C unit was unsecured with exposed wiring. A TV was mounted over the window in an improvised way. Photos are attached showing the condition and misrepresentation. Additionally, we did not receive the address or access code until 4:15 PM, after check-in time, and only after contacting the host. Due to these issues, I am requesting a resolution/refund. Please confirm receipt and advise on next steps. Photos attached.

Pros

They first took our call but as yet there has been no response since our last conversation with them.

Cons

No follow up from host or VRBO. We have reached out to both parties on numerous occasions but neither taking responsibility.

Overall, my experience with Vrbo was positive. I found a great place that matched the photos and description, and the communication with the host went smoothly. I would definitely consider using Vrbo again for future trips, especially when traveling with a group or looking for more space than a hotel offers.

Pros

I appreciated the wide variety of property listings and the ability to find unique homes in great locations. The booking process was straightforward, and the filters made it easy to narrow down exactly what I was looking for.

Cons

Some listings had hidden fees that weren’t obvious until checkout, which made it harder to compare true costs upfront. Additionally, not all hosts respond quickly, which can be frustrating when trying to make quick decisions.

Pros

The ability to reserve places to stay when planning our vacation. I like the interface a little more than Air B and B

Cons

Sometimes the prices are not as good as Air B and B although I know that may not be the apps fault but the clientee doing the listings.

### "The BEST way to find spacious lodging!"

Our experience with Vrbo has been fantastic. It is so much better than staying in a hotel. We save lots of money by having a full kitchen and preparing some of our own meals. We've never had any problem with access or cleanliness. The owners have always been very responsive if we have any questions.

Pros

We use Vrbo for our vacations all the time. I most like being able to see multiple units on one page, including their distance from key landmarks, like restaurants and shopping. The photos of the interiors of each unit, as well as views from the balcony make it easy to select from among offerings.

Cons

Some information about a unit is often missing in the owner's description, so you have to read all the reviews to find out something very important, such as there's a strange smell, or the elevator doesn't work, or there's noisy construction going on next door, etc... So, I read all reviews.

### "Renters Beware "

Rented a lovely flat in Paris for 2 nights. On our first night, contaminated, foul smelling water came up from shower drain flooding the bathroom, toilet area and spilled into the kitchen. Naturally, We laid towels down to soak up the water. We ended up on the phone / email for ~ 3 hours off and on (til 2 am) with VRBO. VRBO said we need to contact home owner / property manager with no response - property was managed by a 3rd party. We sent pictures to VRBO. Property was unsafe and uninhabitable due to contaminated standing water. We had to move out and find other accommodations for our second night. Our incident was escalated internally to VRBO. I asked for reimbursement for second night because we had to leave the property. Not only did VRBO say no, but basically told me that they did not have sufficient proof of the incident - basically they accused me of lying about what happened. They implied that I could have soaked towels and threw them on the floor. This property also listed an air conditioner and washer - neither were present. I recommended to VRBO that they pull the listing until the issue is mitigated. I also purchased insurance through the VRBO app - useless! It does not cover the erroneous listing or the lack of maintenance of the listing. Bottom line - renters beware. VRBO is not there to support or help the renter - they don't care. I was told they could not provide a refund because of lack of proof and that they could be sued by the owner of the property.

Pros

There was a wide variety of properties that were easily identified by location. Filters made it easy to target applicable properties

Cons

VRBO and property management Customer Support was lacking after booking and during our stay. After booking - I received no communication from property management despite multiple inquiries using the VRBO app

Pros

with Vrbo travel hotel reservations gets easier with great customer support and flexible policies and payments processes.

Cons

Sometimes looks like a clone of other expedia related products. And lacks some forms of originality aside from its unique colour themes

Pros

I've been trying to plan my postgrad trip. I do not like or require the hotel experience for travel, but have definitely been burned before by Airbnb with hidden fees and inaccurate listings online vs. IRL. Browsing on Vrbo has proved far easier with the amt. of filter options for any sort of desired features or amenities, and listings seem more reliable and well-reviewed.

Cons

I have not come across any direct problems with the software yet, but to my understanding not all listings can be booked instantly. I'm not sure if this is standard across rental websites.

I was caught in the Global IT outage on July 19th. I live in Colorado and the VRBO we rented was in Atlanta. Due to the flights getting canceled we were unable to fly. We never left the airport in Colorado. United Airlines refund 100% of my money as did Enterprise car rental. VRBO REFUSED TO REFUND ME. Even though we never set foot in Georgia. Had I stayed at a real hotel I would have never had this issue. VRBO stole $700+ and there is nothing I can do to get it back. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. STAY AT A HOTEL WHERE YOU ARE PROTECTED.

Pros

Nothing. They tool $700 from me and I never got within 1000 miles of the rental

Cons

You are not protected as a consumer. They can take your money and not give it back.

A trusted service that has the backs of both the host and the renter. The available listings are much more upscale than many other vacation rentals and Vrbo seems to keep this a key point of it’s offerings.

Pros

House rentals that give you the full privacy of no shared living areas. I also enjoy the vast amount of listings.

Cons

Hidden fees that are not disclosed in the upfront cost while searching for rentals. This is a large negative and there’s no reason that this cost shouldn’t be included in the overall price upfront.

I like the search option. It’s easy to find properties based on specific criteria you’re looking for.

Cons

Sometimes it’s hard to know if owners are trustworthy, so I feel safer sticking to a hotel.

The "Explore the area" is one of my favorite parts about Vrbo because I am always looking for different thing to do while away on vacation. Plus, it is a good way to explore the local area!

I wish there was more information about the host all on the property page and not a separate link to the host profile. I would want to see everything in one spot.

Cons

The least thing I like about Vrbo is that there are often hidden or high fees that largely increase the total cost of the booking. This is a hardship in using Vrbo because I usually like to compare pricing and budgets carefully.

Overall, it is one of the top places to go for finding vacation rentals. The large geographical areas that they cover and the ease at which you can search properties makes it easy to find the perfection vacation property. They have a large number of filters that can be turned on to help sort and dial in results. Teh option to view properties on a map also helps when trying to locate the best destination.

Pros

The large amount of inventory and volume they have on their site. Easy to use. Simple to understand.

Cons

The final price was not readily available. You had to go through a series of "booking" steps to find out exactly what you will pay.

I got a great deal on a house in Orlando. VRBO was easy to use and I appreciate the reviews. Very helpful.

The hidden fees. There was a hidden fee however it was still a better deal then a hotel.

Homes are not what you purchase for rental. The last home we rented was a mess with cockroaches , worn out furniture, leaking plumbing, old worn out sheets, electrical issues. Took us four days to clean up problems with property management people.
