Clever fake emails, ability to "phish a friend" to test your colleagues to make it even more fun. Cons Hoxhunt's add-on inside of Outlook could be a little slow at times to process and delete an email after reporting it. It's a manner of 5-10 seconds but still a bit slow for something normally instant. I enjoy the game-like features, such as leveling up and leaderboards, which keep users engaged. I also haven't had any issues that required contacting customer support. Pros I like how Hoxhunt sends realistic-looking phishing emails, which helps us learn how to spot real-world security threats. Cons I wish Hoxhunt had the same phishing report button on the web as it does on mobile. Right now, I can only see the button when using my mobile device. There is not alot of steps you need to make. See something, say something etc.. Pros It's extremely easy to use and not manual setup needed for the user if implemented by an organization. Simulated trainings can be sent to non opted-in users and easy instructions help them get enrolled. Simulations ramp up to become very realistic, and even very knowledgeable users have to do double-takes. Very short, non-intrusive, learning snippets for each simulation explain things like sense of urgency, how to check links and best practices well. Users in my teams have over the past two years started reporting anything suspicious, and it's a big difference from before implementing Hoxhunt. Cons I think the training ceiling could be increased a bit to avoid having users instinctively report (expecting a simulation training) and treat an email as 'safe' if it turns out not to be a threat simulation. In day to day world every day, we receive many spam, phishing, and malware in our inboxes. Hoxhunt training included great quality testing mail for its users to identify and earn badges. That not only generates learning interest but also provides broader knowledge and competition among members of the organization to see their rank & where they stand in the smart world. In a world full of cyber-attacks this is the most essential training. Cons I am not a great fan of the calculation of the time taken for reporting a Hoxhunt training mail feature, because maybe someone is busy with other activities and might report once he/she has access to mail. In that case, their rank is going down as the time of reporting as soon as a mail is received also getting calculated. Review Source Marius L. The way Hoxhunt gamifies this approach is just awesome and can be done everywhere at anytime. The invested time of 2-3 minutes per phishing test is much more acceptable than a 60 minute long training where focus easily shifts away. Pros It is easy to use, their phishing tests are seriously good and make users aware of how easy it is to fall for a mail that has basically copied the original. Always reviews the most important signals to look for, great overall training! The timing of the simulated threat emails are also random so you cannot really find a pattern or predict when one is coming. It will definitely raise awareness in users what to look out for.. (Disclaimer: My review/opinion of this product is solely my own and does not represent the views/opinion of the company I work for) Pros I really like how the software mimics real life techniques of attack and reinforcing the learning by presenting microtraining materials. The gamification (earning shields and badges) also adds to the interest to look out for this simulated threats. When you also flagged an actual threat, there is an option to send it for further analysis. Cons Nothing much to complain aside from the duration you need to act on a simulated threat. If you have not flagged it in like 3 days, it will be marked as missed. This happens when you are on a vacation and did not have access to emails. Review Source Shane M. While I am constantly on the lookout for Hoxhunt training e-mails, that transitions to keeping our workplace safe from actually phishing attacks. Also, this transitions to keeping my personal e-mails safe from phishing attacks as I become more aware of what to look for. I also love the gamification as I am super competitive and don't want my streak to end! Cons At this point (Platinum, 14/17 achievements), I would like to see more of a challenge. More difficult scenarios, more content on the dashboard, an explanation as to how colleagues in my company have more stars than me for the month even though I haven't missed any. I listen to a Podcast called "Darknet Diaries" and he talks about penetration testing a lot. It would be cool to have trainings on what to look for in the office that may be "out of place" or what social engineering tricks bad guys use to get into physical spaces. Review Source SV Sona V. Cons What can come up as cons, is that with time, some of the emails coming in disguise from Hoxhunt for simulating phishing get unnoticed by the employee. Besides, if employees are exposed to phishing simulations too frequently, they might start recognizing the patterns of these simulations without really learning to apply the skills in real-world scenarios. Good training and awareness of potential threats out there and allows me to share those experiences with other non-users of the product (like my parents) on things to watch out for. Pros The simulations of potential cyber threats are an excellent mechanism to help bring awareness to people regarding the options out there. I like the follow up learnings that take place thereafter working through the thought processes behind the threat, how it works and how it is meant to guide people towards making poor decisions. The practical tips on how to deal with these problems then make much more sense because you realise what they were trying to do. Cons Product is fine to use but some of the threat mails are too obvious and need to be tailored better to try and simulate a threat. For example, I work for a company headquartered in Finland. And often the threats that come through are written in the Finnish language. However I am based in South Africa, so I immediately know if an email is a Hoxhunt threat purely because of the language used in the mail as opposed to testing a specific principle / risk / mode of attack.
