Owner CEO Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "taking advantage of people" August 5, 2024 1.0 We have been using Joist for 8 years sending estimates through emails then when we go to log into our accounts to access our information and send a email we can not even log into our account. 3 plans pop up the cheapest plan was $96.00 and it only came with two options which was to send estimates and to allow to accept payments through them so they can profit off of you by sending a estimate when we dont even charge to do an estimate to begin with and even if I did I would not pay to send a email. Then when you ask them how can you get into the account at least to get all of your information off of it and the delete and deactivate the account they tell you no you can not have access to your account unless you pay for a subscription plan of at least $96.00 a month which I would never pay that much money just to send a estimate through a email. It is sad to take advantage of people especially at a time like this during an inflation. There are other ways to send estimates for free and not have to pay to do so. Pros There are no pros to a company that makes you have to pay $96.00 for a plan just to send a estimate in a email! Cons If I could give a 0 star I would! Ya know I understand things are changing but when you take your company & turn it over to where your customers of 8 yrs can not even log into their account to delete that account, access any of their info/records that they have had for all them 8 yrs without having to pay for a subscription plan of the lowest plan of $96.00! You know nothing about it you go to log into to type up & send an estimate & 3 plans pop up above it states choose a plan or log out. I get on chat send them a message & waited over a hour for a reply from a bot for them to say no we can not give you access to your account, your records, all the estimates etc you have done on that account for 8 years unless you pay us and sign up for a subscription plan! Seriously wow who does that?! And whats even sadder the $96.00 only covers sending estimates something you were already doing and then allowing to accept payments from clients through their company so you can pay them also to get your own money and oh lets add that you dont need nor do you want those services but are being made to do so if you want to access your account that you have had for 8 yrs. And then to not even give someone the option to delete & deactivate their own account is something I will never understand. Let me add that I do not give this company nor anyone else access to my information on my account. It functions as a decent crm, tracking customers email views and allowing you to sort them in multiple ways. Financing is built right in, making it a seamless presentation tool. You are also able to take payments. Pictures and documents can be uploaded right to your proposal. Different contracts can also be attached for commercial, residential, new construction etc. Pros Joist is simple to set up, use and demonstrate. Estimates can be emailed or texted right to the customers phone. Cons Lacks more robust features other offering in the estimate software category have. Not quite a full featured estimate software or crm but a very functional combination of both. As our business scales up we will likely love on to markate. Lots of different options and paying options as well/ Pros I found Joist is an easy to use software that simplifies the "office" part for, on the go contractors. Easy to learn and use. quick and professional service that adds value to your company. Cons The only area i would try to improve on is the description and task lines. Pros The thing I like most about Joist is their user-friendly mobile app. It’s a lifesaver when I'm on job sites. I can pull up client information, create estimates, and even take payments right from my phone. It's made me look much more professional and organized in front of clients. Cons The thing I like least is that some of the more advanced features are locked behind the higher-tier subscriptions. It's really a shame, because it really could be a dynamite program if they actually listened to customer's needs, and provided stronger functionality. They could even charge more. But they don't seem to care. Pros Simple and straightforward, although lacking much needed functionality. Cons Doesn't provide for a contractor who regularly services companies or multiple locations, just simple contacts with single locations. Support team doesn't work to implement additional features based on user input, not interested. Unfortunate. Pros My client uses Joist which is how I started using it, they are a small business with not much accounting experience and this app is perfect for them. Its basic and simple to use, they can easily send invoices on the go their clients. Cons I would like to see better reporting in Joist. All while holding funds from your fully paid invoices! Pros Convenience and phone based with a decent layout, hard to compare as I have only used PC based software Cons Not stand alone, seems developers have contant access to all your transactions and can and will dictate when they will release your funds and how you should fill out your invoices. CEO Construction Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Paid but Contractor Never Got the Money, May be Fraudulent App" September 4, 2018 1.0 Great at taking your money, very hard at getting the money to the intended group. We're now working with Visa on a chargeback case as the app appears fraudulent. Pros As an end user, the experience was great. I received an invoice from a subcontractor for ~$13K. I was quickly able to click and pay, but then... Cons A month after I made the payment the subcontractor called us for collections. After a lot of back and forth, it hasn't been resolved. Chatting with their support today their response was "I see the delay and I completely hear you, You could ask the contractor to contact us and we would be able to speak to him and help him with this definitely." Essentially, other payment apps like square are same day or next day payouts. They are now asking that I send joist photos of the job and sign documentation. Is this a payment app or title company?
