### "Magento is a mixed bag, there's nothing I'd replace it with and I struggle with it at the same time."

February 26, 2018

3.0

Pros

I like that as a developer I can do anything with it I need to. I like that I know I can find a lot of different developers that can work on it as well. I really like the marketplace where I can find great functionality pre-built. I also like how strict and tightly build Magento is because if something's done right it's predictable and I know I won't mess some random thing up if I change something on another piece.

Cons

Magento is a learning curve and a half. It's harder to learn than learning to develop in some ways :). I also often find that plugins from the marketplace are low quality, it would be nice if there were more vetting other than community vetting.

### "Magento is best for the Ecommerce websites ( Note : Magento is Not best if you are not technical )"

December 19, 2018

4.0

Magento is Best in case you have a huge structural website like having Multistore - Multi language - Multi Currency but at other end you must have good fund to maintain that. Alternative is Shopify which is easy to use but when you need functionality in shopify its all Compromise.

Pros

\- Open Source and Free - Best Community Support - Latest Version updates - Multistore - Multi language - Multi Currency and many more feature which can only Achieve by custom costly development - Best Payment Gateways inbuilt like Paypal, Brain tree, Kalrna etc Best Available Ecommerece Solution in the Market

Cons

\- Speed of magento is horrible - Theme is Expensive - Extension are expensive - Developers are Expensive - Complicated Structure

### "The most powerful and complete tool for electronic commerce."

May 2, 2018

5.0

It is the most recommended option for large online commerce stores.

Pros

It's totally free. It has a wide range of features that allows us to manage multiple stores and support multiple locations, multiple languages, multiple prices and multiple currencies. It is one of the most used platforms in the world.

Cons

Customizations are quite difficult to make, compared to other e-commerce platforms. The official Magento support forum is saturated with spam.

### "Community 2.0 version is the way to go!"

March 27, 2019

5.0

We've been with Magento for 10 years now and we do not see a reason to go to any other platform as most are subscription based which is not so great for you.

Pros

Great platform to built your Ecommerce website. If you have programming knowledge you are all set! If not, you can hire a Magento Developer to get exactly what you want out of your website. Lots of extensions to customize the user and backend experience. V2.0 has made the backend experience on par with other platforms.

Cons

You need to know how to code to get a well functioning website. It is not as easy as shopify to setup and get running. However there are many developers who you can hire via upwork and other freelance websites.

Cons

If you don't have an inside IT every new feature will cost you a lot of money. While the program is already expensive, the additional costs can be frustrating.

### "Great e-commerce CMS platform"

May 16, 2018

5.0

Pros

From a developers perspective it offers a robust environment that is only limited by the developers creativity. With the diversity in extensions and modules you can create a great e-commerce site as the documentation and online support is great meaning most issues can be solved.

Cons

As a developer, creating my own theme using this CMS proved to be a bit difficult as well as the most appropriate ones are a bit expensive.

### "I have worked with magento doing a couple of online stores."

May 2, 2018

5.0

Well, it helped me a lot to make an online store for a client and to the authorized position and sell on the internet

Pros

\* Supports many languages and allows you to store according to the language you want. \* Allow to configure most of the many options from the administration panel. \* It is easier to make customizations of themes oriented to different projects. \* It is a very powerful ecommerce, very good and therefore, of the most used.

Cons

\* Working in a local with Magento is difficult and slow, since it requires a powerful server. \* Understanding programming and the system in general is difficult.

### "It is NOT as simple as it seems to be"

April 14, 2019

5.0

If you decided to go with Magento, get ready to work with installing PHP packages, checking your PHP versions, working with XML for any theme customization. Despite all downsides and dependencies/sensitivities of Magento... somehow I still believe that it is a very solid and reliable solution... :-)

Pros

All you need "out of the box" for your e-commerce project. Clean and modern design. Good performance of the store front (front end). Able to handle BIG stores. API friendly. Good official documentation.

Cons

Very sensitive to PHP versions and packages. You do need to be a developer in order to get going with it. Lots of most important stuff is actually done through CLI... so get ready to work with black screen of SSH interface. Slow admin's interface (back end). Requires more server resources (it is almost impossible to run a Magento store on a shared hosting; Magento 2 official docs recommend a minimum of 2Gb dedicated RAM...) I do not like this one, but... real Magento developers are EXPENSIVE... this is not WordPress for you. Very small official marketplace for themes and plugins (extensions), as well as most of them either do not work at all (the free ones) or way too overpriced (those that do work).

### "Platform lacking in basic functions"

March 14, 2020

3.0

Pros

Once all the configuration aspects have been resolved, the platform is working well, it suits for big projects with many SKUs.

Cons

Configuring the platform is frustrating, it needs high skills and is very poor in basic features. You need to install many extra modules and this could make you lose speed and stability. Magento is only for PRO users with high economic resources.

### "A multi-tool for serious eshops"

September 25, 2018

5.0

Pros

Its huge feature set and it's setup process. You customize everything right from the beginning. I've used the CE on a number of projects and I can say that it's the platform I've loved the most. You must invest some time to it, but it's worth it. There's a whole community out there for help and solutions in almost every problem you'll run into.

Cons

At some point you'll need to customize it, and don't take me wrong, you can customize pretty much anything. But this might need a lot of hours in code. Also the upgrade processes are not the best out there, you must know what you're doing.

### "Good for what you get."

August 29, 2018

4.0

My experience is simple. I'm on the the marketing team at my place of employment. Graphic designer is my title. I make images and advertisements. I upload them, using Magento (who hosts our site). And we can keep track of numerous things, like how many times my ad or something has been clicked. That's just one way I interact with Magento.

Pros

Easy, and great way for keeping things organized. Especially for mid sized business that don't exactly have a web team, but have people understand code. And for those who don't understand code, you can also upload information without coding.

Cons

Obviously since it's so easy, your website runs the risk of looking boring and unoriginal. Since obviously most people can figure out how to use this. It offers more things than sites like SquareSpace, but not by much.

### "More Than Most People Need"

December 31, 2018

3.0

For a majority of individuals and small to medium size businesses, the cost of Magento does not justify its use. Even though it is scaleable, the associated costs for non-developers is not, and the platform can end up being a liability or money-pit. For startups, DIY, and businesses with monthly sales not approaching the $1m+ range, you're better off looking into WooCommerce, Squarespace, or Shopify.

Pros

Magento is perfect for huge eCommerce websites for large businesses and can be very reliable if you have a team to maintain it.

Cons

It's very expensive. Not just in upfront costs, but it's not the easiest platform to update. Bugs in themes and extensions can take the entire website offline and be cumbersome to troubleshoot. Simply removing the extension won't necessarily resolve the issue. Unlike the WordPress repository, there seems to be a weaker system for third-party quality control. There are way less developers experienced with Magento, so they're more expensive to hire or contract. This also translates in a smaller community to help when problems do arise. If you run your website on Magento, you'll want to have at least one developer on hand because many of the issues you encounter cannot simply be resolved on the backend. You'll also have to invest more money in high end web hosting solutions.

### "The Best CMS "

September 25, 2019

5.0

Pros

Your customers shopping experience could never be better. Absolutely insane amount of custom features, extremely fast, and heavily equipped for SEO. For someone who is versed in web development this software has everything you could possibly want to start your business.

Cons

As with all eCommerce that involve the complexities whether its Prestashop, osCommerce, or Open Cart, and so on. It takes a lot of skill to set up a fully functioning site with the custom modifications that you need. If you are not adept in web development having a site with software like this can be very expensive.
