## FAQs about WooCommerce

Overview

### What problems does WooCommerce solve?

WooCommerce solves the challenge of launching and running an online store without custom development, high monthly platform fees, or disconnected tools. It streamlines product, inventory, order, payment, coupon, and SEO workflows in WordPress. Small businesses, web designers, and budget-conscious ecommerce teams benefit most from its flexibility, integrations, and fast setup.

Answer based on 479 reviews

Overview

### Which roles and teams benefit most from WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is most used by business owners, founders, and executives who need to launch online stores, manage sales, and control costs. Web developers, designers, and IT teams benefit from customizing storefronts and integrations, while marketing managers use it to run promotions, optimize conversions, and support ecommerce growth.

Answer based on 1003 reviews

Overview

### What company size and industries is WooCommerce built for?

WooCommerce is built mainly for small businesses, which make up 92% of reviewers, with Marketing and Advertising the top industry at 17%. It also serves midsize and enterprise companies at 4% each, with Information Technology and Services at 13% and Retail at 6%, primarily for eCommerce.

Answer based on 1042 reviews

Features and Usability

### What are the key features of WooCommerce?

WooCommerce includes core eCommerce features like product catalog, shopping cart, order management, inventory tracking, and shipping management. Its most-discussed differentiators are WordPress integration, store customization through themes and plugins, payment gateway support, multi-currency options, and third-party integrations that extend subscriptions, bookings, SEO, and reporting.

Answer based on 440 reviews

Integrations

### Which third-party tools and platforms does WooCommerce integrate with?

WooCommerce integrates with WordPress, PayPal, Stripe, Elementor, Google Analytics 360, Mailchimp, Zapier, and Brevo. Official catalog data shows over 20 integrations overall, spanning website building, payments, analytics, email marketing, SEO, and sales channels, with additional options such as MailerLite, Meta for Business, and Yoast SEO.

Answer based on 696 reviews

Getting Started and Support

### How easy is it to onboard and train a team on WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is fairly quick to onboard for teams already familiar with WordPress, and basic setup often feels straightforward. Training is usually supported by documentation and videos. Nontechnical users can handle everyday tasks after some practice, while admins, store managers, and teams configuring advanced features or plugins typically need more time.

Answer based on 166 reviews

Getting Started and Support

### What customer support options does WooCommerce offer, and how do users rate the experience?

WooCommerce offers email/help desk support, FAQ/forum resources, and a knowledge base. Users often rely on documentation and the active community to solve issues, with many finding enough guidance there. Support experiences are mixed: some describe responsive help, while others report slow replies, limited hands-on assistance, and a steeper path for non-technical users.

Answer based on 158 reviews

Security

### How does WooCommerce handle data security and access control?

WooCommerce uses the WordPress admin for store access, with users managing orders and updates through that backend, including from mobile devices. Because stores are self-hosted, security for the cart, checkout, and customer information is largely the user’s responsibility. Reviewers note there are no built-in security features, so ongoing maintenance and technical expertise are often needed.

Brilliant. Woocommerce would always be the platform I use to develop only stores, customer support is next to none and you have everything you need!

Pros

The all in one easy to use and build platform, easily integrated into any website and great value for money! Cant go wrong

Cons

Nothing, woo commerce is miles above the rest, and ensures everything you need is a click away, adaptable and easy to use.

Pros

What I like most about WooCommerce is how it makes it easy for non-tech people to use it and to actually take their business online. I personally used WooCommerce with my WordPress website and it was flawless. Happy to recommend using WooCommerce to run their business online.

Cons

Honestly, there's nothing I like least about Woocommerce. The purpose of their app was met. They made it very easy for taking anyone's business online, no matter if they're a tech-nerd or not.

I am please with being able to have an ecommerce store that works so I can concentrate on marketing and new product development.

Pros

Not only is it free to set up, but the fact that I was able to easlity create an ecommerce site to sell my products in literally in hours was great. The multiple payment options and integration with my bank and paypal allowed me to receive funds quickly. Adding products and chaging pricing - also easy to use.

Cons

Seems I am always updating the plug-in, and I worry about security. (Although it hasn't been an issue). If I was not super savvy on web design/Wordpress, I might have found it difficult to set up.

Overall, WooCommerce has been a powerful option for us to get good control and flexibility in our ecommerce. It’s a great tool since we wanted to build something customized, but not necessarily the easiest path for businesses that are just getting started.

Pros

What I like the most about WooCommerce is that you can customize almost anything, like for example the design and the functionality, which is amazing if you want full control over your online store.

Cons

We had a refund issues one time and WooCommerce penalized us with a fee that felt pricy and the worst part is that we had to talk to the technical team to get it back up and running.

We might have preferred a nicer look to the product listing but this works. We have never had a glitch and enjoy the simplicity of the program

Pros

They do a great job of keeping the software updated and installed properly. Fee structure is in line with other software and often less in that there is no per transaction fee. Setup was easy, making new products or variants is also really easy.

Cons

Freight setup is complicated but this isn’t really a problem of WOO, freight is complicated. We use a third party for freight pricing. The store adds the freight but we don’t actually use WOO for freight.

I've used WooCommerce along with a visual builder for WordPress to create a simple ecommerce website that does exactly what I need it to.

Pros

WooCommerce is very versatile and will integrate with so many different software. You have a lot of control over the type of ecommerce experience you create.

It's not the easiest to setup well if you're new to it. You also need to set it up properly to avoid security concerns.

My overall experience with WooCommerce is a positive one for the modest size of our organisation and in-house technical knowledge and experience.

Pros

WooCommerce offers great value for money and a flexible service. It is free to install and you can customise options to your preference. It is easy to use and set up. WooCommerce supports many different payment options and methods, supporting major credit cards, digital wallets, and bank transfers. We have never experienced any payments being declined using WooCommerce which is vital to ensure smooth sales and maximising income.

Cons

To get the best out of WooCommerce and all the features, you do need to get the add on extensions. These are paid for and require some technical expertise to maximise their efficiency and functionality. It works fine for our smaller set-up as we do not require many of these additional features.

I needed to use woo commerce but it's an old platform that even if has been made "modern looking" it is still too clunky.

Pros

It is free, easy to setup (at least at the beginning) and you can start getting payment right away with a plethora of payment gateways

Cons

It is very hard to customize or adapt to your own business model. A simple thing like removing some fields from the checkout can be a painful process even with plugins
