Pros Most of my friends and family like using Venmo. I have clients who prefer it over PayPal so I use it with them. Cons I have nothing that I dislike about Venmo. It works well for me and my family, friends, and clients. I can buy items on Market place, pay my hairstylist, and send $ to my adult children for their birthdays etc. Pros I started using Venmo to send my college student kids money. I sent my daughter a card in the mail with cash one time and it was stolen. Venmo solved this problem and it was very easy to use and made it easy to send them money when they needed it. Cons I do worry when I'm sending $ that it is going to the correct place. I have never had an issue though. President Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "There's no competent support at Venmo" September 4, 2025 1.0 Horrific. The support is terrible for a company in this day and age. Both outdated support options on the App and the website and then horrific support through their customer support phone line. Horrible Horrible Horrible Pros I used to like the ability to send and receive money, but it's not worth it after what we experienced. Cons Support. They have the worst support I have ever experienced. The chat support in the app and on the website instructs you to click on options that are not there. Chat support was minimal and not helpful. Telephone support was equally terrible. In addition to long wait times, my son was instructed to supply Venmo with a picture of a government ID and then him holding the ID. He was then told that he was not looking at them (which he was looking at the camera) and then was told he would need another ID. He is 18. He has a drivers' license. He asked what other ID do they expect him to have? They had no answer for him. He was told his case was being moved to a supervisor and then he suspended his account (which is ridiculous since the entire reason for support was that his phone number changed and he hasn't been able to access his account). So user friendly and lots of options available on the app. Pros This is a great way to send payments hassle free! It even has the option to turn on a service to protect your funds. So easy to use! Cons It does take 1-3 business days to retrieve your funds from your account without a fee. However, it normally appears the next business for me. Our business doesn't need to use it every day but for times when we need to take payments on the go or last minute and don't want to use Stripe it's been fantastic! Cons It's probably a me thing but the dashboard/menu can be confusing at times and I feel like it should be easier to see your balance and payments as standard when using the app and website rather than searching for it in the menu. I use it all the time for small transfers and its been really reliable for that. I even started using a business profile for some side gig work and it was pretty easy to set up although the fees are a little higher than I expected. Its basically replaced cash for me when it comes to paying back friends. As long as you remember to set your account to private it is a great app to have on your phone. Pros I love how almost everyone already has venmo so it makes splitting a dinner bill or paying for my share of the groceries super simple. The qr code feature is also really handy when you are meeting someone for the first time like at a flea market because you dont have to type in a long username and risk sending money to the wrong person. It just works fast and everyone knows how to use it. Cons The worst thing for me is the privacy settings being public by default which is kind of weird for a financial app. I dont really need all my friends seeing what I am buying or who I am paying. The app is very simple to use and navigate through. This app has been a lifesaver especially in an emergency situation. Pros Venmo is so user friendly even my 72 year old parents can use it easily without help. It eliminates the wait times for writing a check and having to have that uncomfortable conversation. I've never had a problem sending or receiving money from Venmo. Everyone has it so it's always available. Pros It's generally easy to setup and use to get money or send money between people. I especially like being able to just show my QR code to someone instead of having to spell my Venmo name to them. Cons Transferring money to my bank account takes too long. Lol I wish there was a way to let people use it if they don’t have it. Like my mom has to drive all the way into town to put money in my account or I have to go all the way to her house, but it would be so much easier to have her send digitally but she doesn’t want to deal with that.
