### "Bonus that comes with Office 365"

December 5, 2023

4.0

Considering the basic version is included with a Office 365 subscription it has been an unexpected bonus. It has given our company a chance to experiment with a cloud based directory without having to fully abandon the setup that has work for years and most employees are familiar with.

Pros

Previous to signing up for Office 365 we used a on-premise active directory, using the tools provide it was easy to transfer our directory information over to the Azure Active Directory and have them work together in a hybrid mode. We have been able to slowly decrease the amount of on-premise servers had transition to cloud only at a pace we control due to this.

Cons

If you are using hybrid mode it can be a bit of a pain to set two way communication between Azure back to On-premise.

### "Cloud Identity Management"

July 1, 2025

5.0

Pros

Azure AD integrates with most external software that we have procured, and it is very easy to implement Single Sign-On.

Cons

The Admin UI isn't that intuitive and the licensing structure is complex. The 40-minute sync between systems can sometimes cause delays and issues.

### "The All-In-One Corporate Identity Manager - Azure AD"

February 10, 2023

5.0

In conclusion, overall, I highly recommend Azure Active Directory for any company looking to streamline their identity and access management processes and enhance the security of their IT systems. While there may be some challenges associated with setting up and configuring the software, the benefits are well worth the investment.

Pros

As an administrator of Azure Active Directory in my company, I have found it to be a valuable asset to our overall IT infrastructure. The software offers a range of features that have made our identity and access management processes more efficient and secure. One of the key benefits of using Azure Active Directory is its integration with other Microsoft services, such as Office 365 and Microsoft Teams. This allows for a seamless and secure way for employees to access their work resources, reducing the risk of unauthorized access and simplifying the user experience. Another pro is the robust security features provided by Azure Active Directory, such as multi-factor authentication and conditional access policies. These features have helped us to enhance the security of our IT systems and protect sensitive information from potential threats.

Cons

However, there are also a few cons to consider. One issue I have faced is the learning curve associated with setting up and configuring the software, especially for those who are not familiar with Microsoft's IT infrastructure. Additionally, some users have reported challenges with integrating Azure Active Directory with non-Microsoft systems.

### "AAD for the Win!"

October 17, 2022

5.0

We have noticed a marked skills gap in receiving qualified support engineers. However, in a critical situation, we have found the support chain to be fast moving and very knowledgeable in ways that get the business back to functional in times of urgent need.

Pros

Ease of deployment and support from Microsoft is key to a successful deployment in AAD. Making sure you have reached out to AAD Support prior to deploying can make getting to Best Practices much easier in the long run.

Cons

There can be a 40,000 league difference from getting a good support engineer and receiving sub par support that takes longer than necessary

### "An absolute requirement for any M365 tenant"

May 6, 2022

5.0

We had Office 365 licecnes but were not using them due to being a Lotus Notes environment. Moving off this to Outlook/teams/sharepoint meant having a away to configure users to be able to access these easily. It meant group based sercurity and access, it meant SSO and MFA. All configured easily through AAD.

Pros

Being able to sync form my on premise AD means i can configure and provision users in one place and have their details available for M365 applications and powerfull tools such as password self service, MFA and SSO.

Cons

There are still some limitations that mane i cannot just have a fully cloud based AD platform. I still need locak AD on a server onnected with Azure AD. Hopefully soon it can go and i can have just the one.

### "Great access management and identity service"

May 29, 2022

5.0

Great, we extensively use both Azure, the Microsoft Stack, Power BI and the Office 365 graph so AAD was a natural fit

Pros

Easy to configure, assign roles (or groups) to persons and/or apps. This case be easily reproduced using the API otherwise the front end is just as good.

Cons

In terms of the dizzying amount of permissions it can be tricky at times to know exactly which one/s you should apply for a given use case

Reason for choosing Microsoft Entra ID

We came from doing the user management manually - which was stressful and an unnecessary risk

### "The best solution for a Microsoft-heavy company. "

April 27, 2022

5.0

Pros

I like the main dashboard gives you alerts on upcoming major changes and remediation to avoid service interruptions. There is the seamless integration with on premise Active Directory that makes it easy to sync and migrate. The monitoring blade is great to show access with details on time, user, application, remote IP Address, location and MFA. I also like the separation and ease to create service principals or applications and lock them down to specific roles. I also like the feature of setting accounts as Guest so that you can furter restrict non company users. Overall one of the best ID management solutions for Microsoft shops. Great API and powershell documentation

Cons

No compains but I wish more security features that are hidden are brought and promoted in the GUI.

### "Good cloud platform"

December 2, 2021

5.0

Pros

Azure is a very good cloud platform, their UI is really amazing and they have great customer support, always on hand to provide support. The AAD is a great and excellent feature that allows you to manage your organization users, computer etc in cloud. The hybrid feature also allows you easily manage your existing on prem servers. Azure is less complex and very user friendly. I would greatly recommend to any organization looking at onboarding cloud services.

Cons

It's a great cloud platform and works well so far. Nothing really comes to mind, i'd greatly recommend

### "Most widely adopted identity managerment solution for cloud!"

November 19, 2022

5.0

We have a seemless integration of on-prem windows identities to cloud via this Azure Actively Directory.Totally secure and private environment is provided.

Pros

Serverless server is here, irony is that cloud stands for serverless capabilities and still provides server architecture features like Active Directory. Not just that you get many option of acess control and policies to execise of each user. Multiple factor authentication via app, sms and call are available. Admin can also check the location for which the authorization is requested. We can setup custom logo and also we can restrict users to login on untrusted devices. Isn't that the great feature? I love it and totally impressed with the new capabilities.

Cons

There are no cons at all. Microsoft is very innovative to develop such a practical usage platform.

### "simplifies user access management across apps"

April 6, 2025

5.0

Pros

I liked Azure Active Directory’s strong security features and seamless integration with Microsoft 365 and other Azure services. Its single sign-on (SSO) capabilities greatly simplify user access management across apps.

Cons

I found Azure Active Directory’s interface a bit complex for new users, especially during initial setup. Troubleshooting issues like conditional access policies can also be challenging without deep documentation.

I rely on AAD daily and have had nothing but great experiences with it. It's robust but flexible and the options are almost endless.

Pros

The tooling and functionality is amazing; so much potential and possibilities, AAD is a must-use for any Microsoft administrator.

Cons

navigating the interface can be confusing and convoluted at first, however once you know how to use it and where to go, it is very straight forward.

Pros

Cons

### "Azure AD offers easy integration"

October 15, 2021

5.0

We offer a product that integrates with AD to produce beautifully designed directories that showcase a client's most important people and all of their information. Without AD, this would not be possible.

Pros

I mainly use this product to integrate to others where I need to manage users with many fields. Although there was a learning curve and some skill needed, the product functions exactly like I need it to.

Cons

The learning curve, however arguably every software product involves some level of prior skill.

### "Powerful User Management and Integration"

January 22, 2026

5.0

Overall, my experience has been profound. The tool has set me up for success more times than not. While there was a large learning curve, once that knowledge was established, it was a breeze.

Pros

The most well rounded User management solution EVER. Working in an ever evolving access industry, having the ability to easily manage users is critical. Simple integrations with Active Directory and Intune are important in most business applications these days. Along with integration into business applications for SSO. Extremely powerful tool.

Cons

The whole suite can be a bit overwhelming at times. Between configuration, security measures, and integrations...it can get cumbersome.

### "The licensing model needs work. "

November 21, 2025

3.0

We've been using Entra ID since we've started our migration to 365. It was easy to get connected to our on-prem environment and get users moved over to Entra ID and operate in a hybrid deployment. We're now working to move to cloud only users, our endpoints have all been transitioned over to Entra ID utilizing Intune and Auto Pilot for deployment. The process has been pretty straight forward. I do wish the Microsoft Documentation was better or at least a bit easier to find. It would be nice if they had a clear step by step guide to follow.

Pros

It's a natural extension from Active Directory. Syncing accounts and devices is very easy. I like that they offer things like conditional access and advanced security settings that make it possible to have a stronger security posture.

Cons

I don't like how convoluted the licensing can be. While they offer some conditional access policies at our current license level, we would have to bump up to E5 or P2 add on licenses in order to take advantage of some of the more robust policies. Certain reporting options and additional settings are also all blocked by paywall forcing you to either pay more money for more licensing or look at 3rd party solutions.

### "Cloud-Directory mit erstklassigen Zero-Trust-Funktionen"

June 11, 2025

5.0

### "Hard to beat if other MS products in use"

December 12, 2025

5.0

Overall Microsoft Entra ID is a great product with a lot of pros and some cons. The main benefit would be the interconnection with Microsoft ecosystem as it is their product.

Pros

Microsoft Entra ID integrates nicely with other Microsoft products and it is quite easy to use. The sync from on prem AD to Entra ID is also advantage. Implementing Conditional access policies helps to improve the company security posture.

Cons

The pricing tiers/addons are not easy to understand and some settings does not follow security best practice by default, so it has to be changed later. Other thing is Microsoft is pretty much always changing the portal, so it can be sometimes tricky to find what you are looking for when expect to be at the old place.

### "Azure AD...a Breeze!"

April 23, 2025

5.0

Very positive. Enjoyed it so much I obtained an AZ-900 certification. It's very well orchestrated & implemented IAM utility within the Azure ecosystem.

Pros

I like that it's a very comprehensive cloud native identity & access manager. When Azure AD is assigned to a Tenant, it integrates seamless across the Azure fabric making IAM an intuitive breeze!

Cons

In our case, we integrate with O365 apps and there are still things like managing "groups" where tasks are done in the O365 Admin Dashboard as opposed to all tasks being managed in the Azure AD Dashboard.

### "Cloud-first Azure AD is the way to go"

July 3, 2025

4.0

Pros

Extremely powerful and flexible —it does a lot including streamlining all our directory management, SSO, etc. but it also expects a lot of admins. You definitely have to know your stuff to get the most out of it.

Cons

As it underpins all of the Microsoft 365 offerings an Azure AD/Entra ID outage will obviously kill a lot of your SaaS access for your entire org. Thankfully those are fairly few and far between. Microsoft is alos obsessed with moving things around and creating new portals, etc. so you need to start on top of Entra news to (re)locate things.
