### "Overall, a good ERP/MRP package"

Overall, Shoptech has been frustrating to work with. It has felt as if once they had my money they no longer had an obligation to provide service. Quick to ask for opinions but little to no action on problem spots. "Suggest it to the community." is a frequent response, or "We can quote that feature for you." Quite frankly, it's less frustrating to not deal with them and figure everything thing out on our own, which is probably the way they want it. Most help is achieved by contacting fellow users who have also struggled with the same or similar problems. Despite all this, Shoptech is still helpful in our day-to-day operations and aside from server issues, our employees seldom see the office related problems.

Pros

Relatively easy to set up and use. Consistent user interface across modules. Web based interface.

Cons

Antiquated and proprietary form builder. EVERYTHING is a special request and quoted. Customer service is a convoluted mess and quick to point the finger at other departments. Frequent server issues. Take your money and run attitude.

There are no benefits to this software that could not have been realized in other ways.

Pros

This definitely seemed like it would be an excellent ERP resource to track from quote, to order, to production, to shipping, to billing. It is NOT.

Cons

UI is not intuitive, search functions are confusing at best, many "modules" that you may or may not need, and poor training to discern which would be best for your company; implementation for businesses who already use an inventory tracking system is cumbersome; limited editability of databases once created; customer service is abysmal, high turnover of employees/contacts, shady billing practices, poor training opportunities, cloud services outsourced, support is drastically lacking for both the software and the cloud storage, capabilities misrepresented by sales team, unethical behaviour.

### "Lack of development and dying software "

Good at first, but we dropped the maintenance fees several years ago because they stopped adding features or product development.

Pros

Easy to use and short learning curve. Can customize reports with Crystal Reports software.

Cons

This was cutting edge software and support when we purchased it 17 years ago, but over the past 8-9 years they have made little to no effort into developing and expanding it further. Most of their updates are just "bug fixes". They have an idea portal for users to submit feedback, but I seriously doubt they even consider any of these.

We are able to better manage customer orders and quotes.

Pros

We use this software across two businesses setup as separate companies. E2 is used to manage our shop and then we sync AP and AR with QuickBooks. The process to setup customers, vendors, employees, and parts is easy to follow. We are able to track purchases to jobs easily. Employees find it easy to log there time for attendance and against jobs. The integration of quoting to the order to the invoice is excellent.

Cons

Making changes to the scheduling system is time consuming and cumbersome.

Exact customer support is outstanding. They are very helpful to support their product. We have found out that custom reporting has become second nature for the traceability and functions we need to support the aerospace industry. Full implementation has taken longer than we expected, but it appears that is the norm with all software packages.

Pros

JobBoss support listens to your complaints. Some become enhancements, and they are addressed in future releases.Most modules are user friendly. JobBoss works well with Unipoint.

Cons

Revision changes to part numbers, JobBoss does not support revision changes very well at all. Tracking material lots is a challenge as well. Revision history control in purchases order is not supported well. Would like sales orders to support one line item with multiple releases.

After implementing E2 throughout our shop, we realized we were losing money on the most common part that we process. It was a total eye-opener!

Pros

You can see where the time is going on orders. You can use historical data to determine actual job costs by looking at how much time and inventory go into a job. It is really helpful for quoting.

Cons

I wish there was a way to better customize reports. I would like to pick a few things that are on similar, but different, reports and combine them into one report, but I have not figured out a way to do that.

We have been using JobBoss for many years in a Mold shop. It takes a little time to learn the software and it's full functions, but it has been very good in our environment. We are using data collection!

Pros

East of use and Customer Support are the best in the industry. The quoting to Job to timekeeping to invoicing the job is easy to follow. We didn't get all components of the system, but we have gradually added pieces, we added Data Collection and are very happy with it. Our goal is to have the ability to better understand the time spent on each job.

Cons

Current PAYROLL module needs to be replaced soon with replacement Red Wing Accounting Software. Users get "stuck" as logged in once an a while, and have to be logged out by Customer Support.

It works well keeping us up to date with financials, is okay but flawed at time keeping. Our front office has to spend 2 hours every morning adjusting it. You can tell which job an employee is clocked into. Routing and estimation works well if you are very experienced with a lot of machining and programming background. There are other software packages that don't require as much skill to use.

Pros

It is windows based software so it makes using it intuitively. The original modules work really well.

Cons

Tech support not being able to solve bugs in the system. Scheduling and Quality modules don't perform well and aren't intuitive at all. Our customer service representative is only interested in selling products and services not in helping us resolve performance issues with the system.

Pros

Customer support is easy to access, prompt, and very knowledgeable. For a small shop like the one I work in (less than 20 employees) going from a completely analog based system to a digital one saves a ton of time when it comes to recalling information. Being able to keep track of jobs, purchases, and inventory was our main goal and was accomplished easily using E2. Update: Previously I was critical of the state the software is currently in and was contacted by Shoptech to gain some insight on the complete overhaul E2 is going through. We had a very informative web demo and am thoroughly impressed with the improvements that are in store. The new interface is much more intuitive while still keeping the core functionality of the current E2 system, so transitioning for end-users should be relatively easy. The power and flexibility of the system has been enriched, bringing multiple open modules, higher limits on searches, easier search filtering; essentially the ability to get/enter information faster and with fewer clicks. Scalability is coming too! It’s an update that I’m looking forward to getting.

Cons

The web demo answers many grievances that we have with the current E2 software. An issue, from a small shop perspective, that came up was that of added cost. Everything discussed during the demo regarding pricing is unconfirmed, but due to the nature of how the new system will be implemented an added cost may be incurred separate from the current OPTIONAL maintenance structure. Many small shops will have to weigh the benefits of maintaining a subscription to that of staying with the older system they’re currently using. Hopefully scale of operations is taken into consideration when the actual prices are set.

Pros

It is pretty easy to use. There are training classes and user guides to help. It is good that all aspects of the software are tied together so there is not really any re-keying of information. Everything flows from beginning to end; order entry to cash receipts.

Cons

It would nice if you could get to say a receiver while in an order using the information box in upper right corner. Navigation from area to another without having to go out and back in.

improved our inventory control and non-conformance control.

Pros

Priced well compared to competition, provides reports, upfront training provided. great for the shop floor guys to clock in and out of. While the training manuals were outdated, the software was easy enough to figure out on my own.

Cons

So many extra modules must be purchased to make it functional or editable. Customer service can be a little rough to get an answer or fix, but once you get to the the knowledgable person it will get resolved quickly.

Pros

Support is outstanding, standard reports are good, online functionality is great, possibility of using various databases with same amount of users is great flexibility. Bar code reading for tracking production is easy and works great to track man hours per jo.

Cons

Making custom reports has been an issue requiring third party software you need to learn how to use and buy. For a small company that does not use a lot of the bells and whistles (which are great for a larger company) it is pricey.

I don't know about the last couple of versions of the software but I would NEVER recommend the new 12.07 to anyone other than my competitors :-) This is not sour grapes on my behalf just the sad state of affairs. This review by the way was written after they were advised of the issues and I received the " not my problem" response.

Pros

We have had it for almost 20 years and so we are comfortable with how it generally works. We have used the accounting as well as data gathering modules for a very long time.

Cons

Filled with bugs and the feedback is to use "workarounds" to deal with the issues instead of the bugs being corrected. I'm not sure they even have the ability / staff to address issues. The age old take it as it is attitude is alive and well.

The person who was trained on E2 at it's inception with our company has left. I've had to contact support several times for help. The support techs I've had are helpful and patient with this not-so-tech-savy novice.

Pros

E2Shoptech is comprehensive - but you can use as little or as much of the components as you wish. The techs who work with you are knowledgeable and patient and don't speak in computerese.

Cons

The devil is in the details - if you don't know one little thing, it can prevent you from getting the results you need.

Once you have set up your process it is tough to make changes -- be very careful with initial implementation to think through what you want vs. what you used to have!

Customer service is outstanding to deal with. The few times I have had issues or didn't understand something with the system, they were quick to figure it out and fix or provide me with the information!

Pros

This system is easy to navigate through. We love that it is very user friendly! We also appreciate that there are training seminars available. We have taken a few, in which the trainers have absolutely amazing at presenting the information!

Cons

There is nothing I don't like about this software, it is all great to use.

JobBOSS has allowed us to quickly create work orders from quotes which has saved time. Scheduling on JobBOSS has helped our supervisors/foreman plan much better than before.

Pros

I like that I can run the complete shop through one software. From quoting, purchasing, quality, scheduling and tracking. It has made operations run much smoother with all the information in one place.

Cons

The accounting module was not the best when we first started using it. I believe it has gotten better but have not used it again.

I've used JobBoss for almost 11 years at a small machine shop that specializes in aerospace work. I've seen the software grow and change with updated revisions, each one more useful than the next. That's not to say the program has not been useful in the past - as the industry grows and changes, it's obvious that the company takes user feedback into consideration when improving the software. The software is easy to use, and technical instructions (such as those for installation) and clear and thorough. Tech support is always knowledgeable and helpful.

Pros

It's perfectly geared to manufacturers. There are many ways to customize features and use what works for you - and don't use what doesn't work for you.

Cons

I'm not a terribly huge fan on Crystal (one of the options for reports).

### "An easy way of keeping track of what is going on with your projects and in production"

Regardless of the Accounting module issue (maybe it is updated by now): E2 is our most important tool for estimating and keeping track of our projects, progress and extra work that was done. We also use it to track our invoicing on all our projects. E2 is very easy to maintain and to keep up to date. If well maintained E2 becomes a 'Treasure Box' for the company. We are glad we made the step and bought this system, we would do it again.

Pros

Easy to use, operates flawless since system installation almost 5 years ago. Creating reports is very easy for everything that is important in a business environment.

Cons

The Accounting module does not work for the Canadian market and is useless for a Canadian company. We bought it without knowing that we cannot use it.

Pros: inventory tracking, bin locations, time and attendance, detailed work orders, scheduling, combine purchase orders for multiple sales orders & work orders, move allocated stock between orders, keep track of employee time, QuickBooks sync Cons: Not user-friendly, difficult reporting, not flexible, requires onsite server installation & support, costly maintenance & training, has random errors that can delete information. Our Experience: When we purchased E2 Shop System 3 years ago, I was not involved in the purchase, and there was not proper research done to make sure this system was the best for our company. We are a small order manufacturer and distributor of doors and windows. There was a high starting cost to purchase the software and we had to invest in an on-site server to host the program. During implementation, I feel that there was not proper training or support available, and our business inefficiencies dropped to the point of nearly breaking the company. E2 does offer phone support during business hours if you pay the yearly maintenance fee, but there is limited other help information, so we were never able to implement some parts of the system (i.e. the time tracking for each project and scheduling for each workstation). There is not a built-in configurator, so we had to create part numbers and build a bill of materials as well as routing for each of our assemblies. Some of our employees work off-site and cannot access the system or time and attendance as it is server based, resulting in them having to take their time separately. We used QuickBooks for our accounting as the E2 accounting module was not as robust and we also had to purchase a separate CRM (Landslide) for tracking our sales and marketing activities. We have now chosen to switch to a cloud software, allowing us to combine all three of our previous systems and have much more functionality and reporting access.

Pros

It is very easy to work with. Walks you through it without any trouble. Any issues we can contact you and you are willing to help.

Cons

1\. Lists too full when you research something from the past. 2. The carry over onto the packing slip & C of C ex. "Thank you for the opportunity to submit this quote" 3.Doesn't tell you when putting in a new PO that it already exists with the same PO# 4. Not enough characters for our part numbers.
