Pros I like Kickfin because it is really easy to use for waitressing. We work and the next day our tips are in our accounts. So easy. Pros easy to use for the most part and easy set up Cons I did not like that we can not adjust the business date after a transaction has been submitted. This error happens from time to time and it affects the reporting. Also, the reporting feature could use some improvement. The reporting tools help balance accounting and payroll to make sure that tips are claimed and taxed appropriately and that the business is in compliance with laws. Pros Quickly paying out team members so that funds are available to them without the need for large cash amounts on hand or the need to write checks. Auditing was easy, and mistakes were rare. It's easier and faster than counting and redistributing cash and correcting mistakes is as easy as just distributing money a little differently the next night. Pros In an increasingly cashless society, this app allows you to continue tipping staff out nightly. It works great. Cons Once the money is out, it's gone. Overall I am impressed with the company. It can be intimidating at first but is very user friendly. Pros As the future is obvious to most of us in the restaurant industry, cash is almost a thing of the past. Kickfin eliminates the tough conversations with your employees and allows us as restaurant managers and owners to continue to provide our teams with the daily tip out they earn. One of my biggest concerns going into this was the worry that my team members would be put off by the $1 fee but to the contrary they were excited about not having to leave with a pocket full of cash and even happier not to blow all their earnings across the street after a hard day. Cons I don't really find many cons with the system. Having the employee names being in alphabetical order would be much easier when doing the tip out at night but other than that its a great system and concept. Reason for choosing KickFin Coming out of the quarantine from the pandemic cash was not the best option and putting our team on payroll tips is a huge turnoff for current and potential employees. Owner Food & Beverages Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "No Brainer" March 23, 2023 5.0 Very easy onboarding process and when I’ve needed customer service they’ve been easy to work with Pros As a restaurant owner of several locations, I used to spend a lot of my time running to the bank to replenish our petty cash. Most of that cash was used to pay servers at the end of their shift (since most customers pay with credit cards these days). Now I can use Kickfin which means less bank runs, less cash on hand in the restaurant, and servers don’t have to be carrying around cash and visiting their banks for deposits. Cons The only drawback is that you cannot pull back the payment once it’s sent. One time an employee had a suspended account and she wasn’t able to receive the money sent and we couldn’t retrieve it, but it was a very rare occurrence. Review Source EW Edward W. March 22, 2023 5.0 Pros KickFin is easy to use, and the employees love getting their tips immediately at the end of the night. It is so much safer too. Now our employees are not carrying large amounts of cash when they leave and we don't have to keep large amounts of money on hand. Cons I wish the retainer deposits happened real time too! When you get to the weekend there are times you don't have enough in there because it takes DAYS for the funds that are pulled out of your account to show in KickFin. Even if you do forget after a long vacation you can use the chat button or call a live person to help you if you forgot something along the way. for example add a new employee to system. Cons It doesn't effect me but the employee didn't like the 75 cents getting taken out each time. Our boss pays for credit card charges so after explain that they were chill. Depending on the state where they are located, employers have the option to pass the transaction fee through to the employees but the employer can always choose not to do this. It's easy for us to configure, and a change can be made at any time! (Other digital tipping solutions can cost employees up to $3 or $4 every time they transfer funds to their bank, and it can take several days for the transfer to happen; we've found that many employees don't mind the transaction fee in order to have their funds immediately available to them in their bank accounts!) Pros It is very easy to use. Cashing out employees only takes seconds. It is also very easy to add users. I appreciate the fact that new users can be sent invites via email or text. " March 28, 2023 5.0 It helps is a lot with payroll. We were putting all tips onto checks, and they were some huge numbers. Now we can manage cash flow better. Pros Amazing feature for restaurants. All tipped employees walk away with their tips Everynight, and we can easily track for payroll and taxes. Cons The only problems we keep running into is reload of the funds timing after a holiday.
