They were very responsive to our questions and needs. We are now upgrading and they created tailored videos for our review to assist us in making a decision. Pros 1). It is intuitive and easy to use 2). We were able to add community specific features to the website 3). Text messaging - we use this for emergency notifications 4). We can update/maintain from any device - phone, tablet, and computer 5). Secure offering Cons 1). We started with the basic plan which meant that we did not have access to certain features - now after some additional investigation, we plan to upgrade - wish we had some of this from the beginning. I was promised that we would have a good product and so far, I only have questions and headaches because the product has some critical issues. Pros Great value and feature set for the price. I also like the simplicity and ease of use of this this software. Once you learn it, it's very easy navigate and use as an admin. Very accessible software for elderly population. Cons The cloud drive could be better at searching all folders instead of just one at a time. Or uploading multiple folders at a time. Could use better iOS and android app integration for things like messaging to get notifications. With that said, still a great value. HOA Start has been excellent in those areas. Especially when they weren't understanding my questions clearly they responded quickly to get me an answer. Overall I would give them 5 out of 5 stars. Their product is excellent and I look forward to future enhancements as our needs grow. We are using the Professional version which provides all the features we currently need for our small HOA. Pros From the start the customer service and onboarding team have been very responsive and helpful. Starting with a zoom meeting, and allowing use of a test site prior to committing it was a very quick and easy decision to purchase their product. After purchasing an annual contract we received an onboarding menu that lead me thru the steps to going live. Having experience with setting up websites previously I still appreciated the guidance provided thru the onboarding process and became aware of new features and how to navigate them. Cons I can't think of any negative aspects, maybe some improvements could be made in the editing processes in the website editor but nothing I would consider a negative. I was able to use our existing domain name which was a plus too. Feedback from our homeowners has been overwhelmingly positive where they love the modern look/feel, graphics, ease of use, access to our HOA documents, Contact Us page and how great the website looks on their mobile devices. Your product is great and Customer Support (\[SENSITIVE CONTENT\]) is amazing as mentioned before. Pros The ability to quickly and easily configure our HOA website is where this product shines. Our HOA is on the Starter package, yet this is feature rich with the ability to manage our members, post and expose HOA documents, ACH payments, calendars and the flexibility to create additional webpages as needed. The modern user experience provides our HOA a fresh new look. The fast response from our Onboarding Support Specialist, \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], is amazing! He was able to provide some great technical work-arounds for me to create some very nice web pages. I looked closely at the other competition before choosing HOA Start in terms of functionality for the price for our HOA since we are a smaller community. It was a no brainer that HOA Start was the clear Leader in terms of their Web Designs with the features, ease of use and support! Cons Because HOA Start is so feature-rich and everything is configurable, there is alot of functionality in this product. I am an IT professional where I needed to reach out to the Support team for clarification on a couple items, like the Households feature for example. Two things that can be improved: 1) making HOA Start mobile enabled (not just viewing website on mobile device), 2) email blast as part of the Starter package. I consider myself an 'expert' with creating new pages and managing our website making this more fun and spark the interest of our homeowners Pros Super intuitive to quickly setup and configure any HOA website. You don’t need a webmaster to manage/maintain your site, your HOA volunteers can manage this. We are in a smaller community of 80 homes, but we wanted advanced features like: Member database, Secured Member Portal, Member Directory, Ability for Online Payments, Events & Calendars, Email Blasts, Document Repository, Robust Admin Functionality, OOTB & Custom Forms and pricing packages that would fit our needs. As our HOA Communications Committee Chair, I spent a lot of time researching other company HOA sites to the find the best overall solution that is intuitive, user friendly, easy to setup and maintain going forward. HOA Start provided a free trial where I had most of our website configured where this was transferred over to Production once we went live. During the trial process and eventually once we signed on to HOA Start, I was super impressed that we had a dedicated onboard/support specialist to assist along the way. This experience alone sold it for me; also, no other HOA software provider has the features/functionalities, ease of use application and phenomenal support that I have found. Support inquiries were immediately addressed where they provided personal ‘how-to’ videos to help facilitate my requests. We’ve received super positive feedback from our homeowners for the look and intuitiveness of our newly branded website. The other great bonus is providing the ability for our homeowners to make online payments (ACH or Credit Card) via the Stripe integration with very small ACH service fees. Just in our new launch alone, 25% of our homeowners made online payments and with all payments received before the HOA fees due date, which is first! The Professional plan has all of the functionality our HOA needs as this plan is feature rich with the many different features available to tailor to our community. Lastly, HOA Start has a great training reference library that contains videos and documents with great detail how to setup/configure both simple and complex configurations. Cons The admin reporting features can be more robust by offering the ability to create custom reports via a fields selection configuration. Having said this though, our treasurer and secretary find the report feature to meet their expectations. This isn’t a “Con”, per se, but note it does take time to setup a site (content), even for software that is easy to use and configure as HOA Start. Having your content ready to cut/paste or photo’s to upload will reduce this time significantly. Since we started from scratch, this was the largest effort to create/gather the content and have reviewed with the Board. Reason for choosing HOA Start Building a custom website would be too much overhead to maintain. We wanted an easy to use cost-effective solution like HOA Start. The other products, did not have all of the features we wanted like HOA Start offered. Cons 1\. We need a way to search the Newsfeed (or the entire site). We have tons of info loaded into our posts at the Newsfeed but it's very cumbersome to go back through the posts to find something from the past. 2. Owners should be able to be notified about new newsfeed posts and comments on posts. They should be able to opt out of those notifications but must users of a site like this would want that. Each of us on the team has an IT background and therefore experienced with various software product upgrades or replacements. The implementation coordination was excellent. \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\], our coordinator, was able to quickly identify our needs and help guide us through implementation. Always offering best-paths, she was expert at explaining options and the trade-offs that we'd see. That point alone emphasizes why I learned as much as I did as opposed to simply following recommendations from a manual or a coordinator who might not be engaged. The HOA Start process and procedure work flow provided us with clear steps to success. Pros The website management and configuration features are not only equal to all of the more expensive products; but it exceeds them in many cases. As a career software developer, I know pain points for users. Good/great products work hard to ease that burden. Work flows, communications, mass-editing...these things matter. We found a great product. Cons As a board member on our POA, I would like to have more reporting for my members, especially statistically. In the future, I'd consider adding canned reports that would satisfy the number crunchers. It was difficult to navigate, and to administrate, so after the last administrator left, it never go used, but we were still paying for the monthly subscription.Also, your onboarding person, \[sensitive content hidden\] was outstanding! I don't use that term loosely. She was thorough, and very knowledgeable about the product. She was always very prompt in returning support questions. I happened a number of times, where I'd be doing set-up late at night and have a question, and send it to her. After an exhaustive search, I found HOA Start and couldn't be happier. The site is beautiful, intuitive, interactive, budget friendly and so easy to build and navigate. We were assigned our very own Support Rep and \[sensitive content hidden\] has been amazing - so helpful and supportive. Our community is very proud of our new website and we are getting engagement from residents who swore they would never use a website. People are engaged in the HOA Start website. We had an event that we charged outsiders to attend. We used the event capabilities to set up the event online and the credit card capabilities to charge people. Would have been a nightmare without the website to assist here. Pros It's easy to use, administer and change. Also, it's newer than most of it's competitors out there. Most others I found were 15-20 years old and they looked it. HOA Start is fairly new (a couple years old) and thus state of the art for the industry. Also, we maintain it ourselves as opposed to relying on the website company. therefore, changes happen in hours and are exactly what we want them to be. We control it. Cons It wasn't as feature rich as some of the others initially when we got it, but what it has now is plenty for what we need now. Reason for choosing HOA Start The rest were 15-20 year old products. HOA Start was the only one we found out there that was built from the ground up with the newer technologies of today. Nursing Supervisor Medical Practice Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Long time coming, but glad we’re finally here" June 28, 2023 5.0 The software itself is pretty amazing, but the customer service with our Onboard Specialist is where this project succeeded. \[sensitive content hidden\] was there with us through the entire setup and helped us launch successfully. Can’t say enough about this company. Pros HOA Start has all the extras we weren’t able to find with the other competitors, like Sub-Admin and managing our Board Meetings through the software. They have a feature called Digest that allows our members to stay connected and received weekly or monthly updates on the changes to the website; we didn’t see any of these features anywhere. Cons While we can email our invoices through the software, we’d like to have the ability to print them out and physically mail invoices to some of the residents who aren’t online. We’re told that is coming in two months. Reason for choosing HOA Start HOA Start has a better user experience, and integrated website builder.
