Pros Because of my purpose for using Audacity, there's no need for me to invest in high-end recording software so I appreciate that there is no charge to use. I'm still able to import/export my hypnosis recordings for clients and as an added bonus, add soft background music. If I'm unsure how to do something, I can typically find a Youtube video with instructions. Again, my needs are very basic as is my knowledge with using all the features of this software. Cons At the moment, I can not say what the cons would be since I do not use all the features. It is also useful to create audio files of authors reading their work. It can be a learning curve if you are not familiar with audio editing, but it does the job, and it's worth setting aside a little time to learn because the results are so satisfying. Pros Audacity has a lot of features for a free program and performs well. I also like the fact that you can get plugins, including paid ones, which make everything easier. But it can get rid of a lot of background noise right out of the box, which is a huge plus. Cons The only con I can think of is that the GUI is a bit daunting, and I have to admit it feels a little bit like being back in the 1990s, but at this price it's hardly an issue. Cons In a few places the interface is a bit clunky, it doesn't get too much in the way but i really wish they could smoothen it up. March 6, 2021 5.0 Overall audacity is one of the bests and easiest free audio recording and recoding tool for beginners. I love it. Pros I like playing guitars with backing tracks. I love Audacity because it is very easy to use and make my own backing tracks. It can capture high quality sounds from other apps as well. For example, I make the backing tracks in Guitar pro 5.2 and capture them using Audacity. This software is very light and free! Additionally I record my own tones every now an then using this software. Cons Audacity sometime crashes unannounced. But very rarely. One has to save the data very frequently to be on the safe side. It was nice that we could pick up where we left off and also keep a couple of sound bytes and input them into our mixes with ease. Pros It was nice to be able to easily use Audacity. The interface was pretty intuitive for me and my team. We were able to plunk around at first but soon after the trial time we were able to mix, cut and layer our audio tracks for a quality piece for our videos. Cons Sometimes I wish I could get my cuts a little cleaner faster. I wish I had like a "visual beat counter" on the screen so that I could cut on a certain beat versus have to amp it out loud and then smack the space bar. I would usually add instrumental files and acapella files and line them up perfectly to form my own version of remixes, export them and enjoy. Cons There weren’t any real drawbacks to Audacity. Pros Es básico en su interfaz principal, pero luego tiene más opciones en los menús desplegables, lo cual lo hace, no tan completo como otros, pero sí suficiente si no necesitas mucho más allá de algo básico. Cons La interfaz bastante antigua, apenas tiene complementos conocidos útiles, son mayormente atajos de varias opciones simultáneas, hay menús con tantas opciones que si tienes que buscar una porque no lo usas a diario, se te hace eterno. It might look complicated at first but once I saw a couple of youtube videos it became very easy. It is free, so it does make Audacity a bit more desirable. Pros Audacity is free software that makes mixing audio fun and fairly easy. It has a simple interface and can handle all your audio mixing needs. It's easy to convert a .wav file to .mp3 just by exporting to mp3. It has a huge list of features and plus you can add plugins. More than three weeks behind schedule due to performance issues. Pros When it works, it seems to be okay, but I can't even get to using it because settings and performance issues are severe. Cons Every day I sign on to the software, and every day it has a different problem than the day before. Nothing has been changed since the day before when I have inevitably spent HOURS finding that day's problem and fixing it. I have spent hours and hours searching their help forum. I have spent hours on the internet trying to identify what infinitesimal thing is causing problems. Sometimes I do nothing, and somehow the problem corrects itself for no reason. The whole point of this software is that I shouldn't need either a software engineer or a sound engineer to use it. That has not been my experience. Not sure if other programs are any better, but online reviews indicate that Audacity is one of the best around. There is virtually no help, except a forum where someone might or might not answer. I'm not stupid and I can follow the directions I find by googling. It's just that the solutions don't generally address the problem. Review Source GL George L. I do think the program works better on a Mac than the PC. Pros The fact that it's open source, plenty of support, a mature product and it's still being updated is appealing to me. I just wish there were more plugins. Cons Maybe it's time to have a new GUI, perhaps add wizards to guide people through tasks. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a mobile app for it?
