As a former broadcaster (now an educator), I was genuinely impressed with the tool, its simplicity, and the ability to intuit where certain features can be found and how they can be applied.

Pros

The simplicity of both installing Audacity, and using it "out of the box" is inspired. Audacity goes a long way toward facilitating asynchronous recording with the ability to record "Track 1" and then record other tracks directly over track one. Want to sing along with yourself? Audacity enables that. Want to interview yourself with one track over a mic and another over a different mic (to create the illusion of multiple players)? Audacity makes that possible. And it saves down into virtually every imaginable format.

Cons

The noise reduction capability for the software shifts the volume too radically. It's difficult to achieve consistency of volume when trying to reduce noise track by track.

### "Everyday Value and keeps getting better"

This is a must have for freelancers. With everything going on right now, everyone is trying to save money and this program works well and adds value to my recordings. I use it personally and love that it is always improving. Occasionally I hit snags but that's common and is to be expected with open software. I have no complaints with this software and will continue to use it.

Pros

I love that it's easy to use. The best part for me is that you can download additional features and Plug-ins or even create your own if you know some coding. They make it easy to install Plug-ins and has built in support to help users out. I record live audio in different sessions. It doesn't limit how many projects I can work at a time like some other programs. Very flexible & allows me to use a bunch of different file format like WAV, AIFF, and MP3. The mixing tool is simple so I can easily mix tracks myself and bounce them out to cds or store for use in media players, or for uploading online. And I forgot to mention that it is 100% FREE!

Cons

It's an open software, which has some cons. Users make changes and adjustments which can impact the software negatively, and from time to time, you may have to download the latest version of the software for optimization. Since the update is not automatic like other programs, it can be time consuming. It didn't work well on my HP laptop, so I had to put the program on my computer which has faster programming and it seems to fix the issue.

Audacity has been extremely useful in several projects, including the making of short films, YouTube videos, voice overs for various applications, etc. It can be used by different people with varying levels of expertise and can solve many simple problems in audio manipulation with ease.

Pros

The product is easy to use and lean in terms of disk space. At the same time, its features are quite adequate for most audio applications. Some of its features, such as the noise removal tool, are truly revolutionary and greatly enhance audio for various projects.

Cons

Laying of multiple tracks is a bit difficult. It will help if the software provides drag and drop features in moving individual tracks.

I find it great for its value. It covers the basics and even some details such as the noise reduction or echoes playing that I wasn't expecting. I like all the options for editing and creating compositions. It works without crashing my system and can render everything in no time. I create radio programs with it and the quality is amazing.

Pros

It has all the basics in a single place, has a great capacity and I can play with all its properties without having to sacrifice a thing. The organization is neat and without many distractors around. I can edit instruments, voices and make it sound as if everyone was in the same place creating incredible compositions for radio programs

Cons

It takes time to get used to all the basics and the help section isn't really useful when it comes to understanding what each thing does. Once you've passed this barrier you enjoy it

Overall I have used it successfully to remove background noise and tweak my audio for content creation. I therefore highly recommend it to anyone who needs to create audio that may need to be tweaked for quality videos.

Pros

I love audacity because it has enable me to import my audio files that I need to remove background noise from, remove the noise and export the final product for upload to social media channels. Definitely a must have for content creators.

Cons

It’s not easy at first to figure out how to fix your audio. I had to watch a few videos on YouTube on how to remove background noise. Once I was able to figure that out. It became easier to use.

Necesito editar audio muchas veces para vídeos y prefiero usar un programa a parte si tengo que ir montando todo que hacerlo en el de edición de vídeo que uso, para no saturar la biblioteca de medios.

Pros

Al ser open source, es gratuito, pero no por eso es menos potente que otros, incluso procesa mejor que algunas alternativas de pago los archivos en cuanto a la velocidad. Es muy sencillo de usar y tiene una curva de aprendizaje bastante suave.

Cons

El diseño está bastante obsoleto, deberían modernizarlo con algún tema o interfaz nueva, a ser posible semejante a otros programas muy usados para tener una interfaz reconocible.

I've been using Audacity for nearly two decades now. When podcasts were something that radios wouldn't publish on their websites, I was part of a community that did the job of recording and "slicing" the most interesting parts of the programs of a new radio station which couldn't afford doing that job. And the program we used to do that was Audacity. Since that time, everytime I needed reliable software to edit audio files, I always came back to my trusted friend Audacity. It never disappoints. I use it now for my current job as a language teacher, in order to create my own podcasts or audio files to integrate in my videos or exercises for my students.

Pros

Best possible price (free). Easy to use and short learning curve. User friendly, yet effective. For a non professional use, it's better than most. For a professional use, there are better options, but there are also really expensive programs that are worse than Audacity. Reliable, solid and continuously updated.

Cons

I honestly have zero bad things to mention about this software. Could it be better? Yes, but having in mind the price (free), it's difficult. Asking for the moon, it would be great if Audacity could be used also as a proper audio file converter. That would make it even more awesome.

Pros

Audacity is a really common software to record and mix your audio, it has a really simple interface which making it looks easy to use for everyone. the software has many free plugins ready to use, and it has many advanced tools to make the audio sound really professional. in this software you can record audio and edit, add effects, control the sound and export your project in multiple audio formats.

Cons

to be honest, the software is great, but if it has a phone version that would be great.

I sometimes have to use an audio editor for recording voiceovers for promotional videos I make for clients. Audacity is excellent for this type of simple task. However, it also offers many options and features that would make it ideal for jobs that require more finesse.

Pros

I love how easy this audio software is to use. I have used other audio editing software in the past and Audacity makes the process of recording and editing speech and music incredibly easy. If you have a relatively simple project and you just need a simple yet reliable audio editor, then Audacity will suit your needs, but also help you to accomplish much more when it comes to tasks that require a more sophisticated platform.

Cons

Unfortunately, the user interface is a little unimaginative and can look a little intimidating when you first begin using the software. However, when you're working, the grey UI means you will not easily become distracted and you'll definitely be able to focus on the task at hand.

Reason for choosing Audacity

I chose to use Audacity because I was working on a Windows machine. The audio editor I had been using up to that point was GarageBand which is only available on Mac.

The greatest free audio editing software (DAW) at the moment is Audacity. Most projects may be completed with this open-source software, which receives frequent updates. It supports a large number of plug-ins, is simple to learn, and is arguably the finest DAW to begin using when beginning any kind of audio editing.

Pros

simple waveform editing without a lot of prior audio editing experience. The UI is quite basic, but also incredibly minimalist. This lessens the impression of being overtaken by the task. It works with all significant audio sources and handles various audio formats exceptionally well.

Cons

The UI is fairly straightforward, however it's not particularly attractive. The program might be improved by adding more eye-catching visuals. For what it is, the functionality has never been lacking, but there haven't been any significant updates in a while. Although the community's support network is quite outstanding, it may be somewhat frightening to navigate through. For new users, having better standardized support resources would be advantageous.

I don't use Audacity for recording as much as for post production, e.g. equalizing the sound, making sure the volume is consistent across a recording, get rid of background noise, cutting out a cough or "ahem" and "ergh" here and there. That type of thing. Although it is not a simple tool (unless maybe you are a professional audio engineer), mostly due to the fact that there are so many things you can do with it, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube and across the internet to help you deal with a specific thing you want to solve. I use it to polish up the audio track with me talking for my podcast. Great tool to use, and you can't beat free!

Pros

First off, Audacity is completely free. But it is also the gold standard right now, which is quite an amazing combination. I mostly use this tool for post production of interviews and my podcast and it can do everything you need it to with relative ease.

Cons

It is chockfull with advanced features and there are so many settings, I find it hard to know what to do and how. My solution has been to bookmark a few tutorials for those tasks I need most and re-visit them. There are tons of how-to's on the internet that guide you through whatever it is you need to do step by step.

Lo uso principalmente para grabar mi voz, editar fragmentos y eliminar el ruido de fondo. Lo recomiendo al 100% si estás pensando crear un proyecto simple, tipo un podcast, pero no para un uso profesional de grabación y edición de audio.

Pros

Lo que más me ha gustado es que es un software gratis y de código abierto, disponible tanto para Windows como para iOS, y cuenta con todo lo necesario para grabar y editar audio. Además no consume muchos recursos de tu ordenador, algo que se agradece mucho.

Cons

A nivel estético no me agrada la interfaz de edición, es un poco anticuada, podría mejorar. En cuanto a funcionalidad no es un software que puedas aprender a usar en el primer momento, tiene su curva de aprendizaje.

I started recording my first vocals with Audacity. I was still in school back then and didn‘t had the expenses to spend for a premium DAW. Made good memories with it.

Pros

Audacity is free and that is also the main reason why everyone interested in producing and/or recording music have to test it as free alternativ before buying as pricey DAW.

Cons

Doesn‘t bring any mention worthy premium features, but that shouldn‘t distract from this beautiful software.

Ich nutze Audacity gerne um Voice overs aufzunehmen, was immer super funktioniert. Schon zu Studienzeiten habe ich damit Studienprojekte bearbeitet und habe immer gute Noten gehabt :D Es ist einfach zu verstehen, man kann einiges damit machen, Ton verbessern und sehr angenehm damit arbeiten

Cons

Hall und Übersteuerungen sind schwer bis gar nicht rauszuarbeiten, dafür habe ich in ein andere Programm investiert. Aber abgsehen davon, kann man damit richtig viel anstellen. Und Hall und Übersteuerung sind ja im besten Falle von vorneherein zu vermeiden.

Un grande vantaggio è il fatto che il software è gratuito e non ha problemi di crash. Se sei un neofita fa per te, altrimenti potresti aver bisogno d'altro!

Pros

Prodotto per principianti e multipiattaforma, cosa non da poco. Ottimo per uso basilare e può essere affiancato da daw professionali. Comodo per cambiare velocemente la tonalità di un file audio e sublime per l'esportazione. La uso generalmente per fare un mix di base. Sei Sei all'inizio è quello che fa per te.

Cons

Per chi è in cerca di un qualcosa di avanzato non la consiglio. E' un software sicuramente di ottima fattura per principianti e non trovo difetti in questo. Piuttosto ritengo che ci siano pochi effetti e l'interfaccia possa essere decisamente migliorata.

Audacity me ha acompañado desde los inicios de mi proyecto, ayudándome a editar audios, grabarlos, añadir efectos... Todo de una manera sencilla, intuitiva, y encima gratis. Salvo que tengas necesidades muy precisas, te recomiendo 100% añadir Audacity a tu set de herramientas, no te vas a arrepentir.

Pros

Pues lo primero que destacaría es que es gratis, y que a pesar de ello ofrece el 99% de lo que puedes necesitar para editar tus archivos de audio. Al menos yo llevo años utilizándolo para grabar formaciones, episodios de mi podcast, etc., y audacity tenía todo lo necesario para hacerlo.

Cons

Es feo de narices, aunque es parte de su encanto. El diseño obviamente ha quedado muy desactualizado, pero su simplicidad se ha mantenido y eso es lo importante.

Allover this application is very helpful and audio quality after trimming or editing the audio is very good you can use it easily as this is very user friendly

Snap guide at the time of editing audio helps most of the time and quick play indicator which helps to help to hear the preview of the final audio

instruments can be added to this and some songs can not be extracted from back ground music

Utilizei durante muitos anos e ainda utilizo o software. Quando se trata de funcionalidades não tenho do que reclamar, ele funciona perfeitamente.

Pros

Possui praticamente todos os recursos que um editor pago de mesma categoria; Suporte a vários formatos de plugins (aos VSTs por exemplo); Suporte a mixagem; Disponibiliza uma infinidade de efeitos; É multiplataforma e de código aberto; Velocidade no carregamento e funcionamento (Escrito quase que em totalidade utilizando as linguagens C/C++)

Cons

Acredito que o único ponto me desagradou é o fato da interface ser pouco polida, um software com tamanho potencial merecia algo mais bem elaborado.
