I was able to send invoices and estimate, organize my finances, and track business expenses. It's a must have if you run a single person business or are a freelancer. Pros It is extremely user friendly. It has an amazing all in one platform that helped me manage all my payments, finances, taxes and more. The user interface is simple. Perfect for my small business. Cons I did not have any issues with it so I wouldn't say there are any cons. It obviously had to be something to learn but it was easy to do so. Cons I do not like how it requires certain accounts from my bank to be linked to the software. This creates inaccurate money tracking. It's easy to get your head around and creating products, services and invoices is super straight forward. I love how I can link my bank account to it. Cons I wish there were more features to tailor to my needs and to integrate other apps/services like GoCardless. However that's quite a big ask considering how cheap the subscription is. President Automotive Used the software for: 2+ years ### "It works better when you take a class" December 2, 2025 5.0 I opened my own business and had to learn to classify all my expenses and categorize them into taxable or non taxable transactions. I had to set everything up as I had a custom business model and there were no presets which was difficult until I decided to go take a class. After the class I was more informed but there was a large chunk of learning left. After my first year everything pops into place with the things I have set up. Pros The learning curve was not to bad for a first time user. I would highly recommend taking a class yearly so you can keep up to date on all of its functions and features. Cons I’m just not as happy with the mobile device functions as I could be. All functions on a desktop should be available on the application of a mobile device whether it be a tablet or a phone. Pros QuickBooks connects directly to my business account making it accurate and easy to use. I can create invoices in real time and email those to buyers and buyer agents. Customers can pay me directly through the electronic invoice. I’m about to track vehicle mileage with in-app tracking as well as create specific trips for my Home Inspection business. My business accountant has direct access to assist with categorizing expenses. I’m able to create reports and track expenses easily. The reporting process is educational and easy to follow for a small business. I feel secure using QuickBooks. Cons I’m not a fan of having some of the pre-set expense categories. September 6, 2023 5.0 The CRA hasn't come knocking, so I can't complain about QuickBooks! It's worked great for what I've needed, and I can only assume it will continue to do so. Pros I've been using QuickBooks for over 5 years now. The software is simple and easy to learn, without too big of a learning curve. I would still very much recommend having a certified accountant set everything up for you in the beginning so you have everything that you need.I've used it to pay bills, collect payments, send invoices, track expenses, and look at reports of my business over time. it's been easy to update and adjust as my processes and business grow, which is a big benefit. Cons Overall it's been pretty good. My biggest problem was when they discontinued used of the desktop app - I don't like having to go to the browser to do my accounting, and truly preferred the application. There are some features that i don't truly understand, but I allow my accountant to tackle those so it isn't really an issue for me. I work with both CDN and USD, so not being able to have 2 deposit accounts is a bit of a pain, and required me to use Stripe to collect US payment. Lastly, having multiple-currency mode activated doubled my monthly rate - I feel that that's a bit expensive for a feature? Would be great if that was a little bit of a lower price point. A hopeless product that you cannot trust, coupled with a support team who don't hellp in any way at all, and a complaints department that won't listen or offer any sort of recompense. Do not use this company for anything, ever! Pros Seemed fine initially but then realised it was duplicating hundreds of transactions and totally skewing the data. When asked to fix it, almost one year later I had to go through and manually delete all of the entries myself which took over 2 days - worst software ever? And the support team just ignore, lie and avoid Cons Everything! Pros QBSE is very easy to setup and use. It links directly to any bank accounts that you use so it's always pulling through transactions for you to check and allocate as necessary. You can customise the invoices easily and use your own branding. It quickly and easily calculates your taxes and estimates your year end liability. I use the app on my android phone as well as the desktop version and both are very good. It's great to be able to raise invoices whilst with a client. Cons The one thing that bothers me is that you can't raise quotations in the software without upgrading the package to a tier that's overkill for what I need. Review Source JD Jessie D. This software prevents me from losing receipts and having to do a ton of work on my taxes at the end of the year. Pros The most obvious pros are the receipt tracking and the integration with TurboTax. You can snap pictures of receipts or upload screenshots for those online and record the biller, amount, date, and any notes. There's also a category feature I find helpful. At the end of the year, QuickBooks will send it all to TurboTax, which makes self-employed taxes way easier. Cons It's expensive. For the tax package, it's $25/month, or $300 by the end of the year. Cons Login issues are the worst. The issues happens when you need the software the most. I have had this issue twice and it alway happens during tax time or when you are trying to correct your bookkeeping for accuracy. The issue is an internal problem and you have to submit a case and get a case number from support. For startups, small, veteran, minority, or disadvantage businesses intuit is the worst company to do business with they have so many bad reviews, they are bias in their business and they will contribute to the failure of your business. Seems to have deteriorated of late, with agents repeating pat answers and fobbing off with published advice that I'd already researched prior to contacting support. Pros Ease of use and bank account connectivity. Cons Inability to edit connected bank account names in QBSE to differentiate multiple accounts held with the same bank. Inflexibility in setting up transaction categories. Understand it's based on those required for tax returns, but I prefer to do my tax returns in spreadsheets with data imported from QBSE. For example, I wish I could send estimates instead of an "invoice" at times, but I have another program I use outside of QB that can do that for me. I can track receipts, import transactions from my bank account, pay my federal quarterly taxes, create invoices, export all of my info to Turbo Tax, and do so many other key business functions from within the software. I mainly use it to get an estimation of my quarterly taxes, but I also use it for sending invoices and tracking business-related mileage. I like that the web application includes rules for setting up automation so that I don’t have to approve every transaction that appears in my Self-Employed account. QuickBooks makes it very easy for me to export the documents I need for my accountant, and also forgetting the report of my overall income, spending and profits. Cons Because QuickBooks imports all my income and pending transactions, I don’t understand why it’s not set up to be used as a budgeting application, like Mint or YouNeedABudget. Pros \-Links to bank accounts and credit cards and categorizes transactions automatically. -Milage tracking is a great feature. -Send invoices to clients. Cons \- When the milage tracking is turned on, it kills my phones battery and drains it in less than 10 hours.
