August 26, 2025 5.0 Overall, I've found some of the best restaurants at great prices and was able to support local restaurants when I worked in Hells kitchen NY. Pros I discovered GrubHub in 2014 and have not looked back since. It was easy to use with a super short learning curve, I always felt my personal data was secure, for the most part the vakue for money was perfect, I never experienced bugs or issues within the app itself, but when there was an issue on the part of a seller, the customer service communication was always on point and helped if they could. The addition of a favorites feature was needed from day one, so I'm glad it exists now. Cons The app didn't always reflect the restaurant I wanted it to. Sometimes, when I think I'm ordering from my local fast food place, I've found it was actually another franchise branch and I didn't want to order from. Review Source AM Annie M. The fees are high and we simply didn't get the amount of orders from GrubHub as we did other apps. During Covid, Grubhub was fantastic. Since post covid, it has not been a popular option in our area. DoorDash and UberEats have taken over as the dominate providers. Pros It enables restaurants to increase their sales and exposure, bringing in new customers that may have otherwise not tried our restaurant. Cons The fees. While I understand they have to make money as well, knowing what they charge the customers on top of the fees they press onto us, it can discourages customers. We have to increase our prices on Grubhub to offset fees, leading customers to think we are not as affordable as we actually are. It’s a marketing tool, that’s it. Commission fees are high, and when problems occur, restaurants often carry the financial burden. It’s a tool, not a partnership, and other owners should go in with eyes open. Pros Grubhub does provide additional visibility and access to customers who may not otherwise discover our business. The platform is familiar to many users, making it easy for customers to order, and it can generate incremental sales during slower periods when managed strategically. Cons High commission and service fees substantially reduce margins, and restaurants are often held financially responsible for issues beyond their control, such as driver delays, app errors, or customer disputes. Support can be slow and opaque, and the overall structure feels less like a partnership and more like a cost of doing business that increasingly favors the platform over small, local restaurants. April 25, 2022 5.0 Pros What I like the most about GrubHub is the customer service. They have a chatline that is filled with real people who are ready to help you with whatever issue you may be facing at that current moment. Another thing that I also like about GrubHub is that they were the first and only food delivery service to reach out to a platform (In Grubhub's case, Amazon with Amazon Prime for students) to tackle the convenience issue for students in regards to food delivery. They offer free delivery and promo codes with huge discounts for students that is so helpful and should continue. Cons What I do like least about GrubHub is the coverage, if that makes sense. Compared to UberEats and DoorDash where drivers are quickly responding to orders placed by customers. I have had to cancel and order and was close to canceling one until customer service found me a driver. " May 1, 2025 1.0 It's seriously not worth the aggravation to try to use this company. Even when you try to be nice about the order being incorrect the most you'll get is a $5 or $10 coupon if you can wade through to the manager. Pros Drivers try to work hard. Tip them good if you can. Cons Always a problem with this company. Food is never correct and the last thing they want to do is try to help you. Don't waste your time. Get in your car, jump on your bike and get it yourself. Orders are customizable, and can be tracked straight from your phone or computer, and you can even request contactless delivery where the driver will drop off the order at your door and ring your doorbell without a handoff, which was great at the peak of the pandemic! Cons Grubhub is great for convenience, though it is certainly more expensive than ordering directly from restaurants. Since Grubhub charges service fees and will take a portion of sales, restaurants can sometimes raise prices of their items on the app, making the meal more expensive than if you were to just call the restaurant directly and pick up from them. If you have a lot of money, then you can order whatever you want. Pros Grubhub offers a large selection of restaurants. Whether you want to eat Italian, American, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, you can order food through Grubhub. And Grubhub's coverage area is also very wide. I have not been to a city where Grubhub cannot be used. Cons Grubhub is really expensive. First of all, the price of each dish is a certain percentage higher than the price on the restaurant’s menu. Second, you need to pay service fees, shipping, and tips. The price of using Grubhub to order a meal may be 1.5 times that of a meal in a restaurant. Moreover, Grubhub does not support ordering dishes from multiple restaurants at once. Chowbus already supports one-time ordering of dishes from 5 or 6 nearby restaurants, but Grubhub can only order one. Review Source SN Steven N. Pros The app provides a decent platform for food delivery and ordering services, with local restaurants. Dpending on the location of the store sometimes this plat form provides cheaper options than other mobile food delivery apps. Cons When I first downloaded the app it took a few tries for it to recognize and load the location to show possible options even with strong network bandwidth on my phone. The app however has more average layout and bit of a unclear navigation as to the distance or where your food is . Pros There is a lot to like about GrubHub, it allows access to lots of local restaurants for food delivery. The software is very user friendly. The menu feature that is able to display the options for the restaurants is very well displayed and easy to use. Overall the ease of the software is my favorite thing about it. The app on the phone is a great way to be able to order food when one doesn't feel like going out. Cons The worst part of the software is the fact that their is not a ton of options. Due to other rival apps such as doordash or ubereats the restaurants are divided, and not all options are on doordash.
