My turnaround times are improved thanks to to the existing pre-translation. Pros Pre-translation quality. Existing pre-translation has significantly improved over the past year. Cons 1) Propagation glitches. Pre-translated segments don't update previous (or subsequent) translations one you confirm a segment, which makes you have to look up similar segments to harmonize them. 2) Crashes/breaks: "Segment cannot be confirmed" pop-ups are, occasionally, rather frequent. 3) Erratic tag placement: time is lost relocating incorrectly placed tags in target. April 4, 2025 4.0 The accounts and the new clients are fascinating, and I love working with the Lilt team, they always offer advice, and we have been collaborating greatly so far. All in all, the platform still needs some tweaking, as well as the payment system, but even with all the platform bugs and the time log issues, the experience is overall positive, and I hope I can continue working with Lilt and expand our collaboration for years to come! Pros The AI has greatly improved since the early years (I have been a registered vendor for Lilt for 5-6 years). The shortcuts greatly help with the translation process and the quality of the output indeed speeds up the workflow. Also, the PM team is always happy to help! Cons The time log is usually not accurate, so I have to submit multiple tickets to fix my payments. Also, the platform still displays bugs from time to time (not confirming segments, ignoring tags) and the QA function is not properly adjusted (for the Greek language, at least). The standout feature is how the platform adjusts and attunes its translation suggestions based on how the translator is entering. That too i real-time. Cons Lately, EM<>HI projects have been far and in between. The projects I've been getting have very low word counts. Besides, there have been too many heads ups about potential onboardings for fresh projects but they never materialized. The challenge is that there is no updates on the status. Pros It is easy to use and very much useful when you are struck in middle of something. Cons The TM words mismatch with the exact meaning and context. For example: the tense (in case of verb) is a very important observation and this needs to be rectified. This can be done by giving the linguists opportunity to work on their own. While I believe it is an excellent product, I still hesitate to take on jobs that are paid hourly due to its time tracking practices. Pros It is easy to use, and the quality of the machine translation is very good. The interface is streamlined for easy navigation and good visibility. Cons When working hourly, I’m unsure how Lilt tracks my time—whether through keystrokes or mouse activity—but it seems to exclude time spent on research and thinking. Once a segment is confirmed, I can’t edit it unless I unconfirm it first. Even copying text from a confirmed segment is not allowed. Tag handling is cumbersome. The QA function is not helpful, as it generates numerous false errors. It would be far more effective if the QA process could be customized for specific clients. Review Source KG Kumar G. I just want to draw your attention on Lilt Translation Platform. Sometimes, I works slowly and I suggest to provide context tab more informative. Freelance translator Translation and Localization Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Generally happy but with inconsistencies in the payment algorithm" April 4, 2025 4.0 Generally speaking I am happy with the translation suggestions and it makes my work easier. Pros the AI-generated translation suggestions are always on point. It is a very powerful tool which gets translation right most of the time. It works particularly well with non-specialised texts as it is a generic language and I suppose that's where Lilt is strongest at. With medical texts, it works well too although you always have to tweak something. Cons The thing I don't like at all about Lilt is the linguist stats section where you get an estimated payment amount for your time spent working on each project. It is never correct and it's overly generous. Just as an example, I have been keeping a record of my time spent on projects and according to my calculations, I had worked 7 hours on a particular project. For this same project, the Lilt platform estimated I had worked 15.56 hours resulting in a potential $210.90 payout. However, when I got the paystub, it said I had worked on it for 3.9 hours. I am not too sure how to take this as nothing corresponds to the time I have recorded. On the one hand, the system is too generous but on the other hand, the algorithm penalises you if you spend more than 30 seconds without typing or accepting segments. In medical texts, sometimes you need to do some research and that time is not counted. I don't think it is correct as the time spent researching is then reflected on the right wording choice. I believe longer times without typing should be considered, otherwise that would result in translators not researching in order not to get penalised because it's time you're not going to get paid for. I feel like it is designed to support, not handicap, linguists, which I really appreciate. I also believe that Lilt is always seeking to upgrade features and remain competitive, while also fairly compensating linguists and not compromising the quality of deliverables. Thank you! :) Pros I like the visual layout of Lilt, with the sidebar when searching Concordance and TM matches. I also like the keyboard shortcuts and suggested TM matches underneath the target field. Cons I often receive errors during the QA check regarding missing spaces but I can't always find where they should be in the source text. Perhaps tags that represent these spaces would be helpful?
