Pros It is a software that helps us make different assessments for different roles, both tech hiring and non tech hiring. The assessments are based on different skills and aptitudes required at that level. Overall our hiring has improved a lot since we have started using this. Cons I wanted it to be integrated with a ATS , so that we can then automate most of the steps. Its integration with India specific job boards/ ATS is limited at the moment. One of the main reasons we chose Test Gorilla was to create tasks for technical roles. However, over time, we’ve realized that the tasks on the platform don’t quite meet our expectations and are unable to fully assess our candidate's technical skills. They are either too simple or too difficult, and some of our candidates also find technical tasks irrelevant for assessing their skills and are unwilling to complete them. Considering all of this, we have decided not to use the platform in our hiring process in 2025 and to return to our own assessment methods. Since we didn’t cancel the subscription, the annual package was renewed. After contacting them within 1-2 hours to say that we didn’t wish to use the product, we requested a refund for the subscription fee. However, our refund request was rejected. Despite repeatedly stating that we will not be using their platform, they are refusing to refund our payment. Customer representatives are not helpful at all and keep dismissing the issue by saying it's company policy. We had a very bad experience with this. It is truly disappointing that we have made a payment for a platform we are dissatisfied with and will not be using. Software Development Manager Media Production Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Essential for remote teams" June 14, 2022 5.0 We felt TestGorilla helped eliminate candidates we didn't need to persuade and helped identify the right candidates with the help of video responses. We were hoping for more non-cognitive skills assessments -- there were a few test suites that helped a bit, but we found that custom questions helped accomplish our goals better. Pros I loved that I could add cognitive and non-cognitive testing, and receive a summary of the test results rather than individual question results. This helps eliminate interviewer bias greatly. Cons I did not like the inability to modify my testing suite after the first interviewer. While I can see how this is interpreted as a feature, I would appreciate the ability to correct mistakes made in the original job posting or test suite composition. Reason for choosing TestGorilla TestGorilla provided more customization options to our unique interview process, and works with teams of interviewers or reviewers more seamlessly. TestGorilla has helped with providing an objective measurement on these skills to ensure we are getting a candidate who can do what their resume claims they can do without having to have a subjective q&a during the verbal interview. Pros The ability to create a modularized exam to cover different technical and behavioral qualifications through pre-built quizzes. This allows for a better objective review of potential candidates we are considering hiring. I also like the scoring benchmarks for comparing potential candidates. January 23, 2025 4.0 Better than expected, but the lack of a short term month to month subscription is a problem for us. Pros Easy to set up and use with some interesting assessments on the free plan. Cons You can't see the invitation or the rejection emails on the free plan. You can't view the test questions, so it's a leap into the unknown as a first time user. If you customise a screening question and need to edit it - you can't. You have to delete it and start again. You have to subscribe for a year. As a first time user from a small start up, we probably would have paid for a plan for a month or two - but can't justify the cost for an entire year for one hire. Pros It is a fantastic and entirely customized tool for assessing candidates. It is a great platform for testing candidates' expertise before hiring them, and we can create tests based on our specifications in a short period of time using numerous modules. Cons Many of my candidates complain that they did not receive their exam invitation invite, so there should be a resend/ reminder that will be appreciated. there are also no multiple-choice questions. I was able to create a test and easily choose questions to test potential candidates for the tole I was hiring for. I could also add custom questions and set time limits per question. While the summary of each test completed was neatly presented I would have liked if it had given and more in-depth analysis of the programming code provided and helped me in deciding if the candidate had the necessary skills rather than just a percentage score base on whether or not his/her code produced the expected result. Some candidates we interviewed based on there scores here were asked to do another practical code test and did quite well. When speaking to them in the interview they would say they were either intimidated by the online test or were confused by the mathematical questions and were not sure what to do. However, when asked to write a simple web page with a login etc they did this with no problem. TestGorila is great if you don't want to sit in lots of interviews with nonsuitable candidates and you can use this tool to choose those who might be suitable. TestGorilla alone though should not be used to decide whether or not to hire a candidate but does save a lot of time to you in the entire recruitment process Pros Library of questions to choose from which you can pick and choose to include in the test based on what skills you are recruiting for. The test can be done online at a convenient time for the candidate and there are checks built in to determine if the candidate was cheating. Various ways to share the test to potential candidates Nice summary of the candidates results Cons Needs more questions in the library for a wider variety of positions. I was charged for an annual subscription I will never use. When I contacted customer support to politely explain my mistake, I was attended to by anonymous representatives who did not follow up on my case and did nothing to help me. Any other service out there would have just suggested a partial refund and a cancellation at the least, but their tactic is just referring to their non-refund policy and ignoring the customer's issue. I will make sure none of the companies I work with will ever be involved with this service. Do yourself a favor and STEAR CLEAR! This has made the process much quicker, more effective and resulted in us interviewing more suitable candidates. Candidates get a faster response which also improves their experience. Pros This platform is a game changer. My favourite features are: The variety of tests, the ability to create specific links for different applicant sources, the automated rejections process and the downloadable excel reports which allow for filtering and sorting data and tracking responses from different advertisements. I love how much time it saves and how easy it is to use. Cons We have had some minor glitches with the technology periodically but these have been quickly addressed by the support team. This helps us a lot because it makes the filtering process easier to advance in other steps of the recruitment process. Cons The only thing that I think makes the assessment a little bit complicated for the applicants is the full-screen + camera monitoring, for us it's actually really good because it ensures that the test is done by one person, but for the applicant's side, makes them uncomfortable and may affect a little the whole recruitment overall experience. I also like how you can change the status of a candidate to "Interviewed", "Candidate withdrew application", "Rejected" etc. Also the Anit-Cheating monitoring is super useful. Cons I would only say it is a bit expensive. There is nothing else I can think of in terms of improvement to the product.
