When I used to build software simulations, I would do the filming with Camtasia, even though I used high-end software like Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate. It was easier and I could import into the other software. Pros Ease of use, layout, segmentation of video capture and editing into bite size chunks, tons of resources. I've been a user for over twenty years. Cons Sometimes there are too many features, it can be overwhelming. Although they're working on fixing that with simpler workflows built-in. Je recherchai un logiciel de montage convivial et après avoir essayé un certain nombre de logiciels gratuits, j'ai opté pour un achat. Camtasia m'a séduit pour sa convivialité, son ergonomie et se prise en main assez intuitive malgré mon inexpérience relative en montage vidéo. Quel bonheur de pouvoir combiner facilement film, images, textes et sons en quelques clics, de pouvoir redimensionner même la musique en tirant des poignées, d'inverser une vidéo prise par un smartphone, de remonter le son d'un objet, d'apporter des animations, etc. L'on peut se perfectionner aisément avec l'aide des tutoriels. J'ai eu recours au support pour un problème de mise à jour sur Windows 11 qui a rapidement répondu à ma problématique. Je ne regrette mon mini-investissement financier. Screen recording is very easy to do, and post recording editing to remove unneeded portions or redundancies is great for streamlining training. Cons It is a heavy tool that requires a good computer. Die Bedienung ist recht intuitiv und kann innerhalb von 2 Stunden erlernt werden. Danach kann man schon brauchbare Schulungsfilme aufnehmen. Cons Ist sehr oberflächenorientiert. Daher kann eine einmal gemachte Aufzeichnung nicht einfach automatisiert aktualisiert werden. Wenn sich die Bedienung einer Anwendung mit einer neuen Version ändert, muss man wieder alles neu aufzeichnen. I'm able to capture in 1080p resolution, and the end results are always as expected. It's easy to export in the file types I prefer. Pros Camtasia offers me a very effective and convenient way to screen record, capturing both the on-screen visuals as well as computer-audio and microphone audio should I so choose. It also has nice post-production functionality, like smoothing and enlarging the mouse icon. Cons Camtasia asks me to upgrade to the newest version every time I log in, but my license does not include updates. It is only good for the older version. I'd have to pay to update. Software is not backward compatible. Projects created in versions before 2020 (\*.camproj) will not open with newer versions. The technical support group is not there on Fridays and the telephone hotline doesn't work. If you buy a Techsmith product, you will need to figure it out on your own. It doesn't have too many frills so it isn't too challenging to learn. Cons The UI is a little clunky and having "Favorites" are not all in one place. It is a solid alternative to the much more time consuming Final Cut and adobe, and has the always handy screen capture at whim. Pros Product continues to get more enhancements, and can compete well with larger more complex software. You can produce high quality videos with this mighty cost effective platform. Also the built-in affordable assets library ( albeit limited) helps. Cons Random crashes that are inexplicable that slow down the process of editing still happen. It may be partly my computer but not sure. Cons Since moving to a faster computer I also have a Hi-Res screen. It's very disappointing that Camtasia has not been updated to support hi-res screens and user experience was better for me on the old computer even if it was slow. The library of pre-made assets, such as animations, music, and transitions, helps to quickly enhance video projects without needing extensive editing skills. Cons Editing captions is an absolute nightmare in Camtasia. Splitting/trying to sync up audio is awful. It's extremely beginner friendly; the mental bandwidth necessary to get started is low. But it's more than adequate for more detailed, more polished videos too, so my whole team can safely use Camtasia, regardless of our individual level of skill. Video editing pros will be satisfied with the level of control that Camtasia offers, while newbies will appreciate how intuitive and uncomplicated all the basic actions are. Camtasia makes it easy to turn an idea into a rough demo in a very short amount of time, which is its best strength. This is a critical step in the creation process, so the benefit here can't be understated. Cons Though it's not lacking features or control, video editing pros and gurus will occasionally notice a small feature missing that more complex tools would have included. It's way more powerful than people might expect, I know quite a bit about Camtasia but I totally admit there are more some features I haven't learned yet how to use but I know they exist and when I need them I know they will be there. TechSmith is also a really great company to work with, they really care about their products and making them better. Pros 1) The hot spot feature, it's something other tools just don't have. 2) Camtasia has pre-built features that other tools don't have, you can just do things much faster in Camtasia than what it takes me to do in Premiere and Final Cut. 3) TechSmith has made a lot of smart decisions by creating a video editor that most people can learn how to use in a short amount of time. Albeit that Camtasia is not the most advanced video editing platform but it doesn't have to be, it's perfect for the average person who needs to do some video editing. This is why I love Camtasia, I can ramp up new video editors quickly. Even my advanced video editor now sings the praises of Camtasia, he complained at first but now even he sees the light. Cons We have pushed Camtasia to where it breaks with too many layers, yes I know the workarounds but this could be improved upon. I'm a little concerned about the EOL of the HTML output, please don't lose that feature because it's super important for the hot spot feature. I have used others, but remained with Camtasia. When updated versions came out they did not interrupt my ability to work or cause problems as updates can sometimes do. The tutorials make learning easy as they are clear and concise. And there are many of them! Pros Ease of use always!!! Even if I don’t use it for awhile when I return to using it there’s no huge learning barrier to become reacquainted. Second would be price. It was not cost prohibitive like some others. Makes my life a lot easier :-) Pros Easy-of-use and fast result - it is easy to capture the elements I need (Screen Capture), make a few edis and create and publish the video Cons I have sometimes had some technical issues - mostly because Camtasia creates some temp recording that fill up space on my local storage - and eventually breaks down.
