Love it! Pros I had to look up how to use a Boolean search to figure this out, but I get an incredible amount of well-screened information about my industry from the alerts I have selected. I know to always check sources and be cautious of what information is being netted. Pros Google Alerts is the perfect platform to quickly and easily monitor specific information with just a few keywords. For me, they help with general awareness of news I’m interested in or topics I want to stay in the know on, as well as the latest updates on competitors. Setting up Google Alerts is highly intuitive. Cons With Google Alerts, you’re not always sure the alerts you’re receiving are coming from reliable sources—which is highly important if you want real news or general data—and sometimes results can be delayed, overwhelming, or non-existent). Too broad of search words result in too many responses, many of which most likely won’t pertain to what you’re hoping to capture for data. Finding out what is being said about your own brand anywhere saves a ton of time and allows you to see which industries are aligning with your message or if there's an opportunity to collaborate. Pros I can set it and forget my alerts for market updates in a variety of industries. Getting all this information would take months to obtain. I can decide if I want to find out more information from the list it provides or not. Cons There's too many and it can become overwhelming. It is wise to set it up where you get weekly alerts because it can clutter up your inbox really quickly. I haven't seen the option where I can really exactly what I want to see. Pros The most important thing that I love about Google Alerts is that, I get all alerts it could be a simple alert for anything. or an ad that pops up. or alerts that someone has tried to log into your Google account from an unknown device. i advise for the 2 step login. " October 30, 2023 5.0 Pros As a freelance marketer, as soon as I get a new client I set up alerts for their company name, a few core keywords in their sector and niche ones. I get alerts as they happen, which can drown you, but on the positive side you see so much. You get mentions of the brand, you see what competitors are doing, identify any theft of your content, and learn as well. It does pick up words and stuff that aren't always spot on, but to be honest it has broadened my media consumption. Cons Only complaint is more the human nature effect of if I have a few 'less interesting' stories or mentions, my brain will file all of them for a week or so as useless. It can overwhelm, or sometimes daily alerts are too few but this isn't a product fault. I imagine paid for tools offer more customisation and heavier 'brand mentions' but for b2b this is plenty. Pros It was very easy to set up and it helps me feel safer while I’m on the Internet. It also only takes seconds to let me know that somebody’s trying to login to my Google accounts or on any of my websites. I don’t even have to use two factor authentication anymore so this is positively impacted my life. Cons I love everything about it there’s absolutely nothing I would change about this product.
