I get regular emails that identify which search terms were used, and they come highlighted in the subject so I can decide whether to click through. Love it!

Pros

I had to look up how to use a Boolean search to figure this out, but I get an incredible amount of well-screened information about my industry from the alerts I have selected.

Cons

I had to learn to hone my requests to get the requests that best fit my interest. Now I have standing alerts that I am very happy with.

I like Google Alerts as a light way to keep track of information I want to have a pulse on. I know to always check sources and be cautious of what information is being netted. I also wish more social media tags would pop up but that could also add to the unnecessary “noise” instead of true feedback on alert parameters.

Pros

Google Alerts is the perfect platform to quickly and easily monitor specific information with just a few keywords. For me, they help with general awareness of news I’m interested in or topics I want to stay in the know on, as well as the latest updates on competitors. Setting up Google Alerts is highly intuitive.

Cons

With Google Alerts, you’re not always sure the alerts you’re receiving are coming from reliable sources—which is highly important if you want real news or general data—and sometimes results can be delayed, overwhelming, or non-existent). Too broad of search words result in too many responses, many of which most likely won’t pertain to what you’re hoping to capture for data.

I think the product is very simple to use and set up. From alert delivery times and frequency to the ease of setting up new alert phrases, it is a powerful yet simple tool.

Pros

Helps keep me informed on personal items as well as business related search terms. I am able to stay up to date on everything I need.

Cons

Should have option to suggest adjacent keyword triggers. Like, based on what I set as an alert, it should offer related terms that would help.

Google Alerts has been reliable on many fronts and continues to be a tool in my arsenal for understanding new mentions.

Pros

I have set this up for both personal and business notifications. It has been a great addition to our mention monitoring software to see when we are appearing for new search engine results.

Cons

It could use some additional options for fine tuning the results that are given. Considering that this is a free service provided the interface is not that bad. But a few negative or filter options would be nice.

I had a good experience with it. Anytime I’m online I get notifications about relevant content about what interests me.

Pros

Easy to use and reliable. Anything I look up makes relevant content regarding the search appear to me.

Cons

There isn’t really anything about it that I do not like. It’s very convenient to have info about my searches be easily accessible.

Google Alerts is a useful notification service offered by Google. It allows you to monitor the web for content relevant to your personal interests. Google will send secure email alerts about new articles, blogs, videos, etc., keeping you updated on new opportunities and information.

Simple, set up in the background and forget about it for the most part. No need to mess about too much with it, just does its thing.

Pros

Simple tool, always worked efficiently, delivers prompt email alerts realted to what I have set up. Handy little tool from Gogole.

Cons

It has got some fringe terms or gone a bit off on a tangent and the email digests can be a little messy or hard work to wade through if you set. a lo tof alerts up.

How you can choose multiple ways to get notifications and communications about the things that spark my interest.

Cons

Not enough customization. Alot of the same content or information. Sometimes to many alerts of the same kind.
