### "DbVisualizer is the Best DB Management"

September 5, 2024

5.0

I have been using DbVisualizer since I started working, which is more than 10 years now. DbVisualizer is an easy-to-use tool designed to work with almost every database. The databases I use regularly are DB2 and MariaDB.

Pros

I use the pro package, which has a variety of capabilities. I usually to use check cost of SQL for the most performance running in program.

Cons

One thing I don't like about DbVisualizer is that it tends to hang or crash when used with large databases or tables with huge amounts of data.

### "dbVisualizer meets the needs of the masses."

September 18, 2025

4.0

Overall, I recommend dbV for large scale deployments to give the maximum functionality for the value. But I think power users will require something a little more sophisticated.

Pros

I think it's a great value for the money, especially when needing to deploy to a large number of team members. Better than paying for dbArtisian or RapidSQL for the masses. We deploy dbVisualizer to all database team members and only deploy a more expensive tool for the select few power users.

Cons

In the community version, I'm only allowed to have one SQL Commander window open but in the paid version you can open multiple versions. Also when you expand a database, if knows my default schema is dbo, but it makes me scroll through hundreds of schemas to get there versus putting the default at the top of the list. Also double quotes seem to cause a java error when sending SQL to the database server. I have to convert legacy code to use single quotes.

Switched from

[Rapid SQL](https://www.capterra.com/p/215817/Rapid-SQL/)

cost of deployment for our team size. dbV was far cheaper than the license for RAPID.

### "Great to use"

September 4, 2024

4.0

Great for exploring tables within databases. Very easy to create a connection to a database, and it is more or less intuitive to use.

Pros

For viewing tables in a database -- very helpful!

Cons

My only con about is that I use SAS for data management activities, and it is easier to use SAS/ACCESS instead of querying the database via DBVisualizer, then importing that output into SAS.

### "A Powerful All-in-One Tool for Database Administration"

March 5, 2025

5.0

My experience with DbVisualizer has been excellent. I use it as my primary tool for database administration.

Pros

I like that I can work with multiple databases within a single interface. It is fast and reliable, and since I started using it, I have saved a lot of time in my daily work.

Cons

I wish I could work with a version control system like Git.

Alternatives considered

[Toad](https://www.capterra.com/p/155783/Database-Management-Solutions/)

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

Because I can use all different databases in a single tool.

### "DBViz works well for me"

September 5, 2024

5.0

I use it everyday. The Pro version is a must as I often have many tabs open.

Pros

I like the export functionality the best. It is also fairly easy to set up the drivers and connect. The option for Dark mode is a lifesaver.

Cons

I wish there was a better way to alias columns in bulk, instead of typing ,a. in from of all of them. I wish there was a word wrap on editor tabs so that if I have a long name for a query file it doesn't take up so much horizontal space.

### "DbVisualizer: A Solid Choice for Database Management"

September 4, 2024

5.0

I work with DbVisualizer since 2013 and see how it is evolving over time: adding new databases, new features to databases or making UI nicer. Mostly I use SQL to analyze data and develop tables/views/procedures in different databases.

Pros

It has a nice user interface, support many different databases (just add jdbc). Makes a life of DB developer or analyst much easier.

Cons

It can be demanding on system resources (memory), especially when working constantly on large datasets - I mean keeping lots of data tabs open. And it's written in Java, so all that heap/memory usage topics.

Alternatives considered

[DBeaver](https://www.capterra.com/p/210182/DBeaver/)

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

More robust and feature-reach product comparing to DBeaver.

### "Great tool for browsing databases"

September 4, 2024

5.0

We were using the free version of this tool since many years: there was enough functionnalities for developer purpose. I tried the PRO version and it is really a gain of time for inserting/updating/deleting datas. I recommend this tool for his lower price and lot of functionnality comparing to othe 'big' one.

Pros

The most usefull functionnality for me is the simplicity of the interface and the number of various database I can set up like Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase.

Cons

In the free version, the scripts we can generate to insert/update/delete data is not always working correctly. In a Citrix environment maybe use too many RAM even for small queries.

### "Centralize All Your DB Connections in DbVisualizer"

April 7, 2025

5.0

I've been using DbVisualizer for over 8 years and have been very happy with it. It’s a tool I confidently recommend and have introduced to my team members.

Pros

It's a consolidated tool that helps me manage all my database connections in one place. I also appreciate the built-in Data Expert feature, which allows me to efficiently bulk-export data from a database to a flat file.

Cons

The welcome page needs to be redesigned, as it currently offers limited usability. Additionally, the intelligence feature often fails to function properly. It does not reliably suggest available tables, columns as you start to type scripts. It would be also great to have a feature that allows syncing connections to the cloud, so that all team members can view and use shared connections for collaborative work. Additionally, I find the current feature set per connection to be somewhat limited. For example, with Snowflake, I can only run SQL queries—there’s no support for running Snowflake Notebooks, Python scripts, Streamlit apps, and other advanced capabilities.

### "DbVisualizer integrated with Mimer SQL"

June 2, 2023

5.0

It is used as a frontend to the database server. Allows both the occasional use and more heavy duty daily use.

Pros

DbVisualizer allows access to the Mimer SQL database. In fact, ALL SQL data definition commands can be generated through the menu interface.Very easy to get an overview of the schema and all objects in the database.

Cons

Difficult to setup first connection and get started.

### "An excellent, full-featured, and intuitive database tool."

April 3, 2024

5.0

I've been a user for more than a decade, and can't imagine life without DBVisualizer. It not only saves me time, it helps protect the data from any accidental actions.

Pros

The feature set is remarkable, and an excellent value. Especially useful and robust are the data import/export features and the data and database structure editing tools.

Cons

In many years I have not had any problems or complaints.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

DBVisualizer has greater ease of use and additional features.

### "Our Go-to For Snowflake Connection"

April 3, 2024

5.0

Have used DbViz for over 10 years and one tool wouldn't be without for our data work.

Pros

It is very easy to set up and get going quickly. Full of way more functionality than we will use so haven't found any limitations. One small feature, it's an app you can close down and be right back to where you were once restarting your work/project.

Cons

No real downsides. Have started to use ChatGPT to write SQL so would be nice to have an AI interface or capability built-in.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

Only needed to learn one tool that could be used across various databases.

### "The gold standard for multiple database management work."

September 21, 2020

5.0

I have yet to find a tool that works like DbVisualizer for my multiple database work.

Pros

It is the best product on the market for multi-platform database management. A single interface for all the major databases. It saves me countless hours when working on different platforms. The spend to delivery is why it is my primary tool. The export tools are solid and provides for ease of cross platform work.

Cons

The challenge with being the best for all platforms is that it also comes with its challenges regarding "explain plans" for database optimization.

Reason for choosing DbVisualizer

Clean, powerful, usable and very effective interface.

### "DBVisualizer eases the pain of database management"

September 1, 2021

4.0

Pros

DBVis makes it easy to manage the diverse database systems in our enterprise. In particular the ssh-tunnel feature is invaluable when connecting to databases that only allow local connections. The ability to connect, triage and resolve issues with data is invaluable.

Cons

While it's multi-platform, it is slow on almost all platforms.
