### "Texting for Patient Engagement"

As an FQHC, our mission is optimum health and wellbeing for our uninsured and underserved neighbors. It's a pleasure to partner with a vendor that is a non-profit with the same mission.The CEO and Product teams frequently reach out for feedback. We've also been assigned success managers who stay in touch, ask great questions, really want to know the issues we're trying to address with texting, and offer a wealth of suggestions and ideas from other customers. We aren't "just using a product" - we've truly partnered with CareMessage to enhance patient engagement and experience.

Pros

Clean, incredibly intuitive UI - allows for quick rollout with almost no training required. Robust texting features, especially in comparison to what is offered by our electronic health record. Not only mass/campaign texting, but direct 1:1 texting. Ability to easily see reply texts (even on campaigns not intended to receive replies). From the patient standpoint, CareMessage is simply texting - no app, nothing new to learn. Makes patient engagement easier. (Note - CM does have a new app. We start out with SMS texting, and for very engaged patients who want to share more lengthy or sensitive information, we offer the app.) Condition-specific texting 'programs' (i.e. diabetes, pregnancy, smoking) send out a series of automated educational and motivational texts over a period of several weeks to months.

Cons

Minimal reporting. Interface with our EHR primarily a demographics bridge; does not create/store the text thread in the EHR.

Pros

CareMessage is so supportive and prompt with communication and meeting needs.

Cons

We would love if CareMessage developed an integrated patient portal so that we could use the CareMessage for ALL of our patient communication needs.

It has been a good experience. Once you become familiar with the features it is easy to navigate. This has really helped our front desk staff become more efficient on patient reminders, hopefully reducing our no show rate.

Pros

User friendly, patients love the messaging feature. Able to see the individual patient responses. I like that we can stop the messages for patients that opt out.

Cons

Some of the corrective features are limited for supervisors. I would love to see more flexibility with things we can correct on our end without reaching out to support. For example; updating the message template once it has been used. Also, would like to see a report on why the messages were not delivered so that we can correct the issue on our end.

My experience has been great. The customer service from this team is unmatched.

Pros

I love that there is not a limit of messages that can be sent. I also love the one to one messaging feature. The customer support team is absolutely amazing. I can not say enough good things about them. Getting set up was very easy as well and it is all user friendly.

Cons

I wish we had control over how long outreaches last for and also that outreaches came from the same phone number. Using different phone numbers for text messages makes patients think it is spam.

My experience has been very positive. Customer service is an important aspect of this positive experience. I look forward to working with the Care message team to improve, engage & enhance patient care that is meaningful & fulfilling.

Pros

The Care message product is easy to use. They have excellent customer service who respond in a timely manner & go extra mile when needed to meet our needs. It's been an amazing partnership with Care message team & hope to continue to work with them to im\[prove & empower patient care

Cons

The missing piece would be the integration with the EHR for improved patient engagement. Especially when surveys are sent out through Care message the outcome or impact is not transferred to EHR. Only exception being appointment reminders. I am sure it should be possible in the near future to work in an integrated environment

### "CareMessage is a MUST!"

I cannot say enough good things about CareMessage. Not only are they a company rooted in achieving health equity and making messaging available to everyone, the product itself is intuitive to use and allows us to readily reach our patients. With this tool, we can provide patients information that empowers them to take control of their healthcare - from referral follow up, social drivers of health resources, routine health promotion, education, and disease prevention messages, and collecting patient satisfaction data, CareMessage allows clinics to do all of this and so much more. I would recommend this product 12/10 times.

Pros

The ability to send mass text outreaches, one-on-one messaging, and appointment reminders are integral to our practice. Recent implementation of automated post-appointment messaging has increased our satisfaction survey submissions significantly! Their support team and customer success teams are easily the best I have ever worked with.

Cons

The Programs feature is something we have yet to employ, in part due to hesitancy around the frequency of messages and the inability to adjust the frequency.

### "Direct Communication and Engagement with Patients"

From implementation of CareMessage to day-to-day use of the product, the overall experience has been amazing. CareMessage is surrounded by a team of experts and their knowledge of the product and wiliness to share their successes from other clients sets them apart. The monthly calls with CareMessage are always educational as we learn new ways to engage our patients. With CareMessage, we have been able to solve some major communications issues we have had over the years with our patients. The first problem we solved was the patient appointment reminders. With CareMessage, we now have a truly integrated appointment reminder system that pulls data from our EMR system, then directly contacts the patient according to their choice of communication (text or phone call), allows the patients to confirm, cancel or reschedule their appointment and directly updates our EMR system with the patient's response. The second problem we solved was communicating directly with our patients. Whether it is sending a text message blasts to all of our patients on any news and/or events in the community or targeting specific patient populations and setting up wellness programs and reminders, CareMessage makes it possible to communicate with our patients in a variety of ways that truly work. Having the ability to see the patient responses in real-time and engaging the patient with direct messaging makes this an invaluable tool for our organization.

Pros

CareMessage is multi-purpose communication/engagement application. For the appointment reminders, CareMessage was able to interface directly with our EMR system (Greenway Intergy) which allows our patients to confirm, cancel or reschedule their appointments via text or voice and our EMR system will automatically update accordingly to their responses. For patient engagement, CareMessage gives us the ability to communicate with a specific group of our patients or all of our patients. With CareMessage, we have the ability to view text message responses from patients and we can respond back to them in real time. CareMessage is easy to use and it easy to train others. The interface with web-based therefore it works in most corporate environments. Our organization uses Citrix and we did not have to load any special software to deploy CareMessage.

Cons

What we least liked about this software is that our organization did not implement it sooner.

Reason for choosing CareMessage

We choose CareMessage because of its ability to communicate with our patients in a variety of ways and with the many options it offers in setting up programs for continued interaction. With CareMessage, we don't just have an appointment reminder system, we have a direct method of communicating with one, some or all our patients.

I am huge fan of CareMessage and had recommended to other FQHCs and free clinics.

Pros

The implementation required very little IT effort. The system is very self-intuitive; thus, end-user training is very quick.

Cons

The character limitation for the automatic appointment reminders doesn't allow us to provide very detailed instructions to patients.

Currently using CareMessage for appointment confirmation. cancellation, and patient engagement outreach. Our experience with CareMessage has been a robust learning experience. They CareMessage team has assisted in creating process that increases our patient engagement and linking then to care in order to decrease our patient's health care disparities and increasing the quality of care we are providing our patients.

Pros

CareMessage has many great features but one of the most impactful feature is the ability to communicate with patients via text message. In addition, the patient appointment confirmation is phenomenal. The system is user friendly and the implementation process was not cumbersome

Cons

What I least dislike is the fact that our EHR doesn't canceled our appointments automatically. There is a pro and a con to that.
