It is a simple and quick tool that also shares feedback among teammates. Many companies like HubSpot, Netflix, etc. use it for screen recording. Cons It is expensive. Many tools like Dropbox, Slack, etc. can offer more functions than just video messaging, and that's too within the same cost. Review Source Keith E. We also use this for step by step tutorials for our in house documentation. We record what we are doing and embed the video with written documentation in Notion. You can play it right from within the Notion page, which is great! Pros It is so easy to record your screen while you talk and you can do it from anywhere. Cons The only thing I wish it had were the ability to remove the controls from the bottom of the screen while recording. Being in the IT business, I am constantly taking screenshots to explain things to my clients and my own team. Loom ended that because their easy-to-use screen recording software makes screenshots redundant. The free version limits you to 5 min recordings, but the business option allows longer recordings and team folders where shared recordings can be accessed. Once you have taken a recording, you can easily copy the URL and share it with internal and external people or embed it in a website, knowledge base or email. Recipients can comment on the video if you dont disable that feature and Loom shows metrics about views. Loom is super helpful for communicating ideas with people and is much faster and more effective than typing. Its also a great communication aid for remote teams. Pros Loom is a great way to make and share short video messages (talking head and screenshare). It is super helpful to explain complicated ideas to colleagues and clients in a far more effective and efficient way than typing long emails and pasting in screenshots. Pros I work remotely with various clients who record podcasts. That means that I'm managing a tech-based product, often times with clients who are not fluent in technology. I use Loom to go over systems, software, and processes in real time so the client can watch what I'm doing on their own time, and refer back to it if they need to in order to properly learn how to use the system/software etc. Cons There isn't really anything I don't like about Loom - it is exactly what it says it is. Even just using the free version, you can record multiple 5 minute videos if you have a longer message to portray. Reason for choosing Loom Loom was the first product like this that I came across - prior to that I was just taking screen shots and writing emails. I don't think there's an easier or more affordable way to quickly and easily shoot and share video content, and screen shares. Pros I love how easy it is to make a quick screencapture or video and share it with others. I often use it to explain things to clients, without having to write out a full e-mail. It's also helpful when reviewing documents, as they can be viewed along with video and audio commentary. The fact that you can shoot a video, and share the link in no more than a few clicks of the mouse is fantastic. Cons The file structure for completed videos is a bit difficult to manage. I still haven't mastered this, so my video storage is a bit of a mess. I understand that they've released new features recently to make this better, but I haven't had a chance to look at it. VP of Product Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Enables effective asyncronous communication" December 25, 2022 5.0 Pros Loom is my go-to tool for when I'm trying to explain or communicating something that would take a long time to explain over chat or doesn't require a meeting. Loom has a convenient desktop app so I can start my recording in seconds, and as soon as I'm done, a link is automatically copied to my clipboard to the recording - the video processing is done in the background, so there is no need to wait.Prior to using Loom, I found competitors tools to be unreliable - I'd get to the end of the video only to not be able to complete the recording, or the audio was missing. I've never had such issues with Loom. Cons I don't dislike anything about Loom, it is a solid tool. With the addition of build in screen recording in Slack, it'll be interesting to see if I become less reliant on Loom, or if they will continue to innovate in a way that retains the value of the tool. Invested two weeks trouble shooting, waiting, moving on to other part so a project, waiting, then, something else doesn't work, now - recording uploading for over 12 hrs - and no customer response despite 3-4 tickets over 6 days. February 14, 2024 5.0 Positive under all aspects I am very looking forward to attend the next webinar so I can have a better training on how to use its features for our new website launch! Pros I started using this app with the free trial. I use it on daily basis since I work a lot with customer service and it is much easier a very short video explaining any process. Everything is automated! The system will just cut pauses and provide title and description of the video with AI features. You receive notification real time from who watched the video. Among colleagues is also useful. Instead of creating manuals and long books explaining all process/rules in place you can just use Loom to show a new trainee how's the job and what he/she should be doing. As remote worker for an international company this has been a game changer. Even when I am off/away my colleague can go to the library of training and see how it is done. Absolutely brilliant app! I am happy to have now the subscription so I can extend the use of AI features. Cons There is nothing really I did not like about loom so far. May 25, 2022 4.0 I use loom to share progress demos of the application I am developing with the team as well as to share the errors I am facing while developing an application. Pros Loom comes with a browser extension that provides a very quick option to start recording. Loom also automatically generates a link when the recording finishes. Loom even provides comment and emoji reaction features and its video player is also very smooth to use. Cons For free account loom limits recording of each video to 5 minutes which is sufficient to record project demons but some time recording exceeds the time limit. Pros I love how easy it is to make a short clip of myself and/or my screen. Cons The only frustration I run into is not being able to record from my camera simultaneously whenever I'm screen-sharing using my company's proprietary software platform. I'm pretty sure it's a security setting on our engineering team's end though, and not Loom's fault. Pros Loom is incredibly easy to use and is a dependable piece of software. It saves me time in the office. Instead of typing out a lengthy explanation for an idea or troubling over the wording of a question, I can make a quick Loom to share with a co-worker to help express ideas and find solutions more quickly. Cons I wish that the free content was either unlimited or that it was easier to delete older material so that I don't reach my quota for free videos so quickly. Pros What I could emphasize the most is that Loom is very simple to use; it is a software that does not take up much screen space, it is unobtrusive, and you can select the plugin on any screen and record what I am doing; it also has the ability to turn the microphone on and off as needed. In my stack, it's of the tools I use the most. Loom is perfect for asynchronous work/conversations to save time on meeting in my opinion. Pros What I like the most about Loom is its ease-of-use. In 5 minutes, you can record a video and share it. It's the best tool out there for asynchronous work. I use it for my team but also for sales prospecting and product updates. Cons The software can be buggy at times even if you have all the recent updates set up. I also wasn't a big fan of the AI generated summary. I think they can make a better use of AI. It can be a simple how-to video to share with one person, or a long tutorial designed to be viewed by every person in the organization.
